Frederick Burbridge
BEDFORD, MASS. — A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 18, 2001, for Frederick S. Burbridge, age 87, who died June 14, 2001, in the Church of St. Catherine of Genoa in Somerville, followed by interment at the Bourne National V.A. cemetery.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, he was an electrical engineer.
A long-time resident of Somerville, he graduated from S.H.S. in 1932, and attended the Wentworth Institute. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, a former New Haven Railroad employee and a lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He is survived by his wife, Anne (Griffin) Burbridge; six sons, Frederick Jr. of Groveland, Mass., James of Easton, Mass., John of Lynn, Mass., Thomas of Milford, Mass., Paul of Hunterville, N.C., and Christopher of Peabody, Mass.; two daughters, Elizabeth McGaffigan of Arlington, Mass., and Anne Marie Costanzo of Revere, Mass.; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Larsson of Braintree, and the late Helen Mainey.
Memorial donations may be made to the V.A. Hospital, 200 Spring Road, Bedford, Mass., 01730.

Ann T. Tancreti
WINOOSKI — Ann T. Tancreti, 74, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Burlington Health & Rehab Center after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born August 16, 1926, the daughter of Leonard and Emma (French) Thresher. She made her home with her daughter, Patricia A. Ruhl and her son-in-law Walter, of Winooski for the past year and a half. Prior to that time, she lived in the Newbury and Fairlee area for most of her life.
She was a homemaker and talented seamstress.
She was married
to Leon Kerry, who predeceased her. Later she married
Arnold Tancreti, who also predeceased her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Ruhl of Winooski and Annette Tancreti of Wilmington, Del.; two sisters, Pauline Crombe of Ontario, N.Y., and Alice McIntyre of Brattleboro; two brothers, Leonard Thresher of Randolph and Leslie Thresher of Roxbury; a grandson, Neil Jepson of Poway, Calif.; and a great-grandson, Max Jepson Droney, also of Poway, Calif.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Murray of Rutland and five brothers, Richard Thresher of Nebraska, Calvin Thresher of Randolph, Raymond Thresher of Brattleboro, Daniel Thresher of Vershire and James Thresher of Randolph; and her very dear friend, Fred Colbeth of Newbury.
At her request, there will be no visiting hours. In accordance with her wishes, her remains will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Upper Plain cemetery, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of the Champlain Valley, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, Vt. 05446.

W. Chester Parsons
RANDOLPH CENTER — W. Chester "Chet" Parsons, 81, died Monday morning, June 4, 2001 at his home in Randolph Center.
He was born July 29, 1919 in Boston, Mass., the son of Hedley and Mary (Cleary) Parsons.
He attended the Farm & Trades School on Thompson’s Island in Boston Harbor and graduated from Plymouth (Mass.) High School in 1938. Following high school he attended Northeastern University in Boston.
He married
Claire Tower on March 7, 1941 in Medford, Mass. He was a machinist and he owned and operated Standard Tool & Die Co. in Belmont, Mass. He was a well known, progressive die designer in the metropolitan Boston area.
The Parsons moved to Randolph Center in 1976. He had recently designed and manufactured the TBS (Tea Bag Squeezer) which was being sold nationally through the Vermont Country Store.
His memberships included the Randolph Center Congregational Church, Randolph Center Breakfast Club, National Tool & Die Manufacturer’s Assoc. and the Brookfield Mystic Star-Phoenix Lodge #97 F&AM. He had been a mason for over 50 years.
He leaves his wife of Randolph Center; two daughters: Diane and her husband, Peter Swett, of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Joyce Caras of Arlington, Mass.; a son, Wayne R. and his wife, Betty Parsons of Boxboro, Mass.; a brother Hedley V. Parsons of Mont Vernon, N.H.; two sisters, Grace Evans of Woburn, Mass. and Mildred Huber of Munsonville, N.H.; five grandchildren; Jennifer Caras, Benjamin Caras, Danielle Olander, Richard Parsons, Brittany Parsons; and a great-grandson, Nathaniel Olander. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Eleanor Atwood.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 8, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Center Congregational Church, with Rev. James Lupton officiating. Burial will be in the Johnson’s Corner cemetery, Lyndeborough, N.H. there will be no calling hours.

Velma E. Allen
WEST TOPSHAM — Velma E. Allen, 99, of Route 25 in West Topsham, died Saturday June 2, 2001 at the Woodbridge Nursing Home in Barre.
She was born on July 3, 1901 in Landaff, N.H. the daughter of Frank and Anna (Poor) Worthen. She attended schools in Landaff.
In 1919 she was married
to Guy E. Allen, who predeceased her. After their marriage they lived in Bradford, until moving to Barre for a few years. In 1928 they moved to West Topsham where she lived until the time of her death.
She worked as a deputy sheriff for the Orange County Courthouse in Chelsea, retiring at age 86.
She was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church in West Topsham.
She is survived by her son Chester R. Allen of Leesburg, Fla., and her daughter, Madalene Allen, of West Topsham; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Rona Rogers of Winter Garden, Fla. and Olive Hall of Wilder, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ottobelle Spencer and Hazel Thibideau.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday June 7, 2001 in the Upper Plain cemetery, Bradford, with the Rev. Virginia Deyo of the New Hope Methodist Church officiating. There are no calling hours.

Joanne R. Dame
RANDOLPH — Joanne R. Dame, 54, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, soon after arrival at the Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.
She was born in Newport, March 16, 1947, the daughter of Lorin and Barbara (Johnson) Place. She was educated in Newport schools and at Johnson State College.
She served as a medic in the U.S. Navy. She had been a nursing home nurse. She was a member of the United Church of Randolph.
Her interests included gardening and sewing.
She married
Edgar Dame in White River Jct., March 20, 1993.
She leaves her husband, of Randolph; four brothers: Edwin Place of Randolph, Steven Place of Newport, Gary Place of Lyndonville and Ed Place; two sisters: Mary Jean of N.H. and Sylvia of Middlebury.
Funeral services will be held at the Day Funeral Home, Friday June 8, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Deborah Parrigo officiating.
Calling hours will be Thursday June 7 from 7-8 p.m. Burial will be at the Vermont Veterans Memorial cemetery in Randolph Center.
