Audrey Edna Dutilly
Audrey Edna Dutilly, 76, of Troy died May 2, 2010, in Newport with her family at her side.
She was born January 12, 1934, in Glocester, Rhode Island, a daughter of Frank and Vera (Taft) Howard.
On June 13, 1956, she married
Gerard Dutilly who predeceased her in 1977.
Mrs. Dutilly was employed by Quill Pen Manufacturing in Cranston, Rhode Island, for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and making crafts.
She is survived by her children: Charles Howard and his wife, Sherrie, of Derby, Paul Dutilly and his wife, Cathy, of Virginia, Beatrice Burke and her husband, Patrick, of Chepachet, Rhode Island, John Dutilly and his wife, Maria, of Danielson, Connecticut, and Christine Schneider and her husband, Timothy, of Cranston; by 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her faithful companion, a dog named Belle. She was predeceased by a son, Edward Dutilly, in 2001.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, at the Acotes cemetery in Chepachet, Rhode Island.
Francis Archibald Lacombe
Francis Archibald Lacombe died peacefully on April 19, 2010, in Newport at the age of 82, after a short but courageous struggle with cancer.
He was a son of the late Isabel McKinnon of Glen Sandfield, Ontario, and the late Archie Lacombe of Dalhousie, Quebec.
He leaves to mourn his beloved partner of 38 years, Bryan Bowers; his beloved sister, Gertrude Sheppard of Toronto, Ontario; and two dear members of his extended family: Robert Knox of Montréal, Quebec, and Geegee Zaveson of Jay. He will also be much missed by many other members of his extended family, including his nieces Gail Lacombe deGruchy and her husband, Larry, of Montreal, Beverlee Lacombe Chivers and her husband, Tom, of Washington, Lynn Sheppard of Vancouver, British Columbia, Michele Sheppard of Toronto, Frances Lacombe Burnel, Mary Lacombe Thiele and her husband, Harry, Linda Lacombe Hewitt and her husband, Ted, Ann Lacombe, Marguerite Lacombe Dennis and her husband, Tim; his nephews: Lenny Lacombe, Kenny Lacombe, and Gordie Lacombe; very close cousins, Fred Forde of Toronto, John Lacombe of Rockwood, Ontario, Catherine (Mackinnon) Leroux of Ottawa, Ontario, and Dorothy Lacombe Wheeler of Coquitlam, British Columbia. His many friends in both the United States and Canada with whom he shared a mutual love of music, skiing, playing bridge, gourmet meals, jogging, good conversation and kindness will also miss him.
Mr. Lacombe had a life full of wonderful experiences and unforgettable events. He attended Belmont Elementary School, Loyola High School, and Loyola College, and received his degree in education at l’Université de Montréal in 1956. He was a teacher at Canon O’Meara (Point St.Charles) and at Holy Cross (Ville Emard) elementary schools, and at Cardinal Newman High School. He was assistant principal at John F. Kennedy High School in St. Michel from 1964 through 1969, principal at Pius Ninth High School from 1969 through 1971, William Hingston High School from 1971 through 1981, and Thomas D’Arcy McGee High School from 1981 to 1983. He retired in 1983 after 32 years in education with La Commission des Ecoles Catholiques de Montréal.
Other accomplishments included being honored with a medal from Queen Elizabeth II while he was at William Hingston High School, and working closely with Tony Walsh, the founder of Benedict Labre House until Mr. Walsh took his retirement many years later. It was an exceptional life for an exceptional man.
Following his cremation, he will be interred at a later date at the Mount Royal cemetery in Montreal. At his request, there will be no funeral service, but the family is planning a gathering to celebrate his wonderful life at a date and time to be determined.

Abbie R. Warman
Abbie R. Warman, 75, of Newport, died peacefully on April 27, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born February 5, 1935, in Southbridge, Massachusetts, a daughter of James and Abbie (Howlett) Roberts.
On April 21, 1963, she married
Blair Warman who survives her.
Mrs. Warman was a registered nurse. She was employed by the New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham, Massachusetts, from 1957-1989. More recently she was employed by North Country Hospital in Newport, the Union House Nursing Home in Glover, and for the past ten years by Michaud Manor in Derby Line.
She enjoyed cooking, family and hospitality. She held membership with the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Newport.
She is survived by her husband, Blair Warman, of Newport; two children: James B. Warman and his wife, Michelle, Donna (Warman) Luna and her husband, Jose; five beloved grandchildren: Nathaniel Warman, Kaitlyn Warman, Lindsey Luna, Jose B. Luna, and Isabel Luna; a twin brother, Bud (Alfred) Roberts, and his wife, Edna, of South Lancaster, Massachusetts; and her brother-in-law Pastor William Dudgeon. She was predeceased by a brother, James Roberts, and a sister, Jane Roberts Dudgeon.
A celebration of her life was held on May 3 at the Newport Baptist Church with Pastor Jose Luna officiating. Interment was at the Holland cemetery in Holland, Massachusetts.
Matthew C. Young
Matthew C. Young, 20, of Albany died suddenly on April 30, 2010, in Albany.
He was born October 10, 1989, in Newport, a son of Donald Young and Sharon Pendexter.
He was self-employed. He enjoyed the outdoors, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, hunting, wrestling, and the company of his friends.
He is survived by his mother, Sharon Pendexter and his stepfather, Harry Pendexter, of East Conway, New Hampshire; his father, Donald Young, and his fiancé, Patricia, of Essex Junction; his sisters: Valerie Hartman and her husband, David, of Barton, and Holly Lefebvre and her husband, Corey, of Irasburg; by his grandparents: Clayton Richardson of East Fryeberg, Maine, and Howard and Judy Young of Conway, New Hampsire; and by the following nieces and nephews: Daniel, Dylan, and Devin Sheltra, Aaron Lefebvre and Cadence Sheltra.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 7, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home at 4670 Darling Hill Road in Newport. Friends may call at the funeral home on May 7 from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Interment will take place at a later date in Denmark, Maine.
Mary Jean Buck
Mary Jean Buck, 87, died November 6, 2009, in Omaha, Nebraska.
Mrs. Buck was born January 16, 1922, and was a resident of Derby Line from 1940 to 2008.
She is survived by her daughters Roxanna M. Casper of Williamston, North Carolina, and Joan Sylvia and her husband, Ron, of Cape Coral, Florida; by her sons: Douglas Buck and his wife, Linda, of Omaha, Jack Buck and his wife, Angela, of San Antonio, Texas, and Daniel Buck and his wife, Sonja, of Omaha; by her sister Betty Graveline of Greenfield, Massachusetts; by nine grandsons; by five granddaughters; and by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Cordelia (Bovat) Raymond; by seven sisters; by four brothers; by her grandson Chuck Casper; and in 2000 by her husband, Daniel G. “Bing” Buck, after 60 years of marriage.
Her nieces and nephews and their families in the Derby Line area — Paula and Barry Thibodeau, Pam and Jim Bothwell, Todd and Julie Bedard — and several of her neighbors spent a great deal of time and effort enriching her life since her husband’s death.
A memorial service will be held at St. Edward’s Church on Saturday, November 21, at 11 a.m. followed by interment at St. Edward’s cemetery and a luncheon at the church.

Beverly M. Cavanaugh
Beverly M. Cavanaugh of Williamstown, formerly of Newport, died in Berlin on November 13, 2009.
Ms. Cavanaugh was a daughter of Earl and Edna (Cheney) Liberty. She attended Sacred Heart Schools and graduated from Champlain College with an associate’s degree.
She taught special education students at Lake Region Union High School and medical technology at Hartford Technical School.
She loved cats and dogs, and she and her companion, Jules Gokey, ran Mountain View Kennels for cats in Williamstown for several years.
She was a classic example of a workaholic, holding down several jobs at once, including selling real estate and working at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, among other things.
She was always a happy person who made friends easily and enjoyed being around people.
She is survived by her companion, Jules; by her son Dennis Roberts and his wife, Bonnie, of Holland; by her daughter Mary Palmer and her husband, Paul, of New Hampshire; by her grandson Matt and his wife, Lacy, of Holland; by great-grandchildren Landon and Alexis; by her brothers Ken Liberty and his wife, Gail, of Florida and Charlie Liberty and his wife, Barb, of New Hampshire; by her sister Janice; and by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in Pine Grove cemetery in Newport.

Clifford "Trim" Conklin
Clifford "Trim" Conklin, 62, of Hyde Park died peacefully on November 7, 2009, in New Haven, Connecticut.
Mr. Conklin was born March 4, 1947, to Dr. Clifford T. Conklin Jr. and Marjorie Ruth Brew Conklin of Thomaston, Connecticut.
He was the founder and president of Conklin Associates, a firm known for craftsmanship and construction of fine houses. His core staff has been with the company for more than 20 years, most since its inception.
He was committed to service to his community and served terms as a member of Hyde Park’s elementary school board and planning commission and as a town lister.
Authentic and genuine, he touched all he met. People left encounters with him feeling lucky to have just spent time in his company.
He was a passionate man — passionate about life, including the written word, music, film, art, food, and especially people. In the words of his son Tai, "Everyone he met meant something to him."
He touched all who knew him deeply and leaves his family and friends saddened but greatly appreciative of having him as part of their lives.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; by his son Tai Conklin and his wife, Ciree; by his daughter Chelsea Conklin; by three sisters: Susan Cheffey and her husband, Dale, Christina Martin and her husband, Newell, and Sara Conklin; and by four very special grandchildren: Eli, Roscoe, Jackson, and Georgia. His parents predeceased him.
Calling hours will be held at the Webster Barn at 309 Webster Road in Hyde Park on Friday, November 20, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. The family asks those who knew him to join them in a remembrance of his life at the Webster Barn on Saturday, November 21, at 3 p.m. Dress warmly.

Dorothy J. Deuse
Dorothy J. Deuse, 87, of Derby died November 9, 2009, in Newport.
Mrs. Deuse was born January 25, 1922, in Middletown, Connecticut, a daughter of Howard and Lillian (Kurze) Brooks.
In 1943 she married
Arvid Deuse, who survives her.
She enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, and going to the beach. She loved her dogs. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her children and great-grandchildren; she loved having them over for visits.
She is survived by her children: Virginia Ziemba and her husband, Richard, of Tennessee, Thomas J. Deuse and his wife, Marcia, of Connecticut, and Sally Nedobity and her husband, Frank, of Derby; by her grandchildren: Richard Mislick and his companion, Summer, of Derby, Shelly Spurgeon and her husband, Carl, of Tennessee, Thomas A. Deuse of Rhode Island, Tamara Fahey and her husband, Brian, of Virginia, and Frank A. Nedobity and Paul S. Nedobity of Derby; by her great-grandchildren: Richard Mislick and Susan, Cash and Lorelai Sprurgeon; and by niece Ellen M. Bush. She was predeceased by her daughter Cynthia; by her granddaughter Susan Mislick; and by her sister Virginia Emily.

Leon J. Letourneau
Leon J. Letourneau, 77, of Irasburg died November 13, 2009, in Barton.
Mr. Letourneau was born February 20, 1932, in Newport, a son of Napoleon and Albertine (Ouimette) Letourneau.
On May 21, 1955, he married
Solange Poulin, who predeceased him in 2005.
He helped organize area farmers to pick up their milk to go to Massachusetts for the best price at that time.
He loved his blueberry bushes and cultivated many plants over the years. He enjoyed being with his family and attending family get-togethers.
He and Solange ran the farm together for many years, and it was always a showplace to look at when driving down Route 5.
He liked working in his shop and delighted in making sleds out of steel and wood that could be pulled behind four-wheelers, horses, and snow machinery. He loved his dog Kazoo, his pet deer Bucky, and his ducks.
He is survived by his children and their partners: Nelson and Judy Letourneau of Underhill, Gaetan and Cindy Letourneau of Irasburg, Nicole and Claude LaFleur of Orleans, France Letourneau and Peter Jarry of Orleans, Sylvie Perkins and Steve Nichols of Irasburg, and Carmen and Shawn Columbia of Coventry; by his grandchildren and their partners: Pierre and Charlene Letourneau, Ronnie Letourneau, Becky, Travis, Sara, Trevor Letourneau, Austin Letourneau, Sean and Jocelyn LaFleur, Michael LaFleur and Ashley, Chantal Jarry and Will, Jonathan Jarry, Jesse Fournier and Agnes, Dana Fournier, Shawna Columbia, Sonya Perkins and Robbie, and Michelle Perkins and Jay; by his great-grandchildren: P.J., Carly, and Brooklyn Letourneau, Kyle LaFleur, Alex Roussell, and one due in February; by his siblings: Cecile Fortin, Reginald and Delores Letourneau, Joseph and Delia Letourneau, Laurent and Alicia Letourneau, Andre and Delores Letourneau, Phil and Barb Letourneau, and Paul Letourneau; by his sisters and brothers-in-law: Sylva Piette, Charles and Sue Poulin, Allen and Gaetane Flanders, and Lucille Samson; and by his godchildren: Louise Loubier, Jean Luc Flanders, Denise Poulin, and Sonya Perkins.
He was predeceased by his parents; by brothers Tony and Pierre; and by sisters Simone and Theresa.
Funeral services were held November 16 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Orleans with the Reverend Daniel Rupp celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in St. Mary’s cemetery in Newport.
