SCOTT JAMES COLBURN

WORCESTER, Mass./ENOSBURG FALLS -- Scott James Colburn, age 37, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at his home in Worcester, Mass. Scott was a 1982 graduate of Shrewsbury High School. Immediately following graduation he enlisted in the Army and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his honorable discharge he joined the Army Reserves and qualified as a mechanic expert. At the time of Scott's passing he was in management training for Price Chopper.

Survivors include his son Nathan Colburn of Sutton, Mass.; his parents Albert "John" and Pamela (Chaffee) Colburn of Enosburg Falls and Largo, Fla.; a brother David Colburn and his friend Nadja of Worcester, Mass.; a sister and her husband, Sara and Randall Beach of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; two nieces, Peyton and Chelsea Colburn; and one nephew Tristan Scott Beach. Also many special aunts, uncles, cousin and friends including Vic and Bruce of Worcester, Mass.; Stephanie Colburn of Cape Cod; and Joyce and Bill Hatfield of Sutton, Mass. Scott was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Alice (Logan) Colburn; maternal grandparents, Irving and Genevieve (Roberts) Chaffee; and special friend, Mandy Colburn.

Scott was dearly loved by his family, who appreciated his willingness to help anyone at any time, giving a sparkling smile, gift of gab, and a sense of humor. Scott was immediately liked wherever he went, and always expressed great love, gentleness and compassion for his family, especially his son, parents, brother and sister.

Scott was a gifted musician, with the ability and talent to play any and all instruments. He favored the guitar and piano and had a desire to teach these instruments to his son Nathan.

We do not understand why he was taken away from us so soon with so much to give this world, but we wonder if Scott is perhaps now able to see the "Big Picture."

A memorial service to be held at the First Congregational Church in Sutton, Mass. will be announced at a later date.

A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20, at two o'clock at the Missisquoi Cemetery in Enosburg Falls. For those who desire to bring flowers, the family requests that fresh cut spring flowers be brought.

For those who wish, contributions in Scott's memory may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls is in charge of arrangements.
