HAYSI -- Amos Deel, 72, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at the home of a son.
He was a retired miner and a member of Mountain View Old Regular Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Mae Deel.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Wood and Helen Deel, both of Clintwood; two sons, Arthur Deel, Vansant, and James Deel, Clintwood; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Holger Ekebom
KINGSPORT -- Mr. Holger Ekebom, 88, of 5616 Apache Drive, Indian Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997.
His body was donated to Quillen College of Medicine.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.

Pauline M. Farmer
ABINGDON -- Mrs. Pauline Morris Farmer, 77, of 20545 Parks Mill Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, at her home.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, a retired snack bar employee with Johnston Memorial Hospital and a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of Fort Wayne Farmer.
Survivors include one son, Darryl Wayne Farmer, Abingdon; one sister, Mrs. Edna Morris Mitchell, Abingdon; one brother, James "Bill" Morris, Abingdon; two grandchildren, Wayne Brandon and Heather Lee, both of Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews.

VANSANT -- Edna Shortridge Fuller, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, in Russell County Medical Center.
She was a native of Buchanan County, the widow of Tolby Fuller and was a member of the Pentecostal church.
Survivors include two sisters, Oakley Slone, Vansant, and Violet Street, Pocahontas, Va.; one brother,
Carter Shortridge, Lebanon; four stepdaughters, Gay, Patsy, Ellene and Margaret; and several nieces and nephews.

GLADE SPRING -- Mrs. Joy F. Hicks, 46, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and Roanoke Business College.
She was owner//operator of Hicks Tire Company, Glade Spring.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Hicks; one daughter, Ellen Lesley Hicks, Glade Spring; one brother, Dan Forrester, Suffolk, Va.; and one half-brother, Jerry Forrester, Marion.

NORTON -- Alcie June Hubbard, 78, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, in Norton Community Hospital.
She was an employee of F.W. Woolworth for many years and was co-owner of Hubbard Cake Company.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Norton, and the widow of R.C. "Carson" Hubbard.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna H. Wilson, Cumming, Ga.; one son, R. Gary Hubbard, Blountville; two brothers, Earl Ellison and Clarence Ellison, both of Pound; two grandsons; and two granddaughters.

HENDERSON, Nev. -- Linda A. Lovett Neal, 42, of 449 Concord Way, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, in Nathan Adelson Hospice, Las Vegas.
She was a native of the Bristol area, had lived in Thousand Oaks, Calif., before moving to Henderson where she made her home for the past 15 years.
She was an employee of Eldorado Casino, Las Vegas.
Survivors include two daughters, Desiah Neal and Deverie Barbaro, both of Henderson; two sons, Deon Neal and David Neal, both of Henderson; one sister, Brenda Lovett, Bristol, Tennessee; one brother, William Lovett, Bristol, Tennessee; and two granddaughters.

Kenneth Nottingham
BLOUNTVILLE -- Kenneth W. Nottingham, 77, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
He was a native of Everest, Kan., and had lived in the Kingsport area since 1939.
He was the former owner of Little Construction Company, part owner of Rentenbach and Wright Construction Company and a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II serving with the 2nd Division in the Pacific Theatre, a Mason and enjoyed farming.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Bernice Nottingham.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen M. Nottingham; three sons, Wade Nottingham, Wayne Nottingham and Dell Nottingham, all of Kingsport; two brothers, Aulmon Jay Nottingham, Spartanburg, S.C., and Roy Dell Nottingham, Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Viola H. Proffitt
Mrs. Viola Hill Proffitt, 77, of Bristol, Tennessee, formerly of Doran, Va., died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, in Merritt Island, Fla.
She was a native of Buchanan County and a former nurse with Mattie
Williams Hospital.
She was the widow of her first husband, James Hill, and the widow of her second husband, Roy Proffitt.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Benton (JoAnn) Hess, Doran, Mrs. Jack (Betty) Barnett, Merritt Island, Fla., and Mrs. Diane Hill Proffitt Shelton, Pounding Mill; one son, Bryan Proffitt, Bristol, Tennessee; two stepsons, Bobby Proffitt, Richlands, and Louie Hill, Dayton, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Marcella Ratliff, Dexter, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Carl (Edna) Short, Belfast, Va.; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was a native of Dickenson County and a member of Phillips Chapel Church, West Dante, Va.
