CLINTWOOD -- Geraldine Mullins Fleming, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997, at her home.
She was a member of the Valley View Freewill Baptist Church and had lived most of her life in Dickenson County.
Survivors include four sons, Bruce "Sonny" Willis and Richie Fleming, both of Coeburn, Roger Willis, Pound, and Paul Fleming, Burlington, N.C.; three step-sons,
Carter Fleming, Curt Fleming and Jewel Fleming, all of Clintwood; two step-daughters, Edith Faye Large and Ruth Ann Taylor, both of Clintwood; four brothers, Everett Mullins, Baltimore, Md., Cecil Mullins, Davenport, Va., George K. Mullins and Alger R. Mullins, both of Coeburn; seven sisters, Chloie Hart, Preston, Md., Lora Rogers, Glen Burnie, Md., Susie Rose, Fernada Golden and Rosie Davis, all of Clintwood, Reacie Cobb, Mount Airy, Md., and Diane Hall, Coeburn; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great grandchildren.

Lynn C. Fletcher
KINGSPORT -- Lynn C. Fletcher, 88, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, in Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a native of Russell County, Va., and had lived in Kingsport most of his life.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving with the Sea Bees and retired from the U.S. Postal Department.
He was a member of the American Legion Hammond Post No. 3 of Kingsport and a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsport.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Kiser Fletcher; one daughter, Mrs. Billy (Karen) Barbour, Kingsport; one son, Gary Fletcher, Kingsport; one sister, Danise Brown; two brothers, Bert Fletcher and Jeff Fletcher, both of Kingsport; and three grandchildren.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- James Clarence Greer, 74, died Monday, January 27, 1997, at the home of his granddaughter.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietname War.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife Pauline Addison Greer; one son, Jack Jessee, Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Linda Kingsley, Rossville, Ga., and Barbara Sue Nix, Ooltewah, Tenn.; one sister, Veda Sauls, Bristol, Tennessee; one brother, Jack Brooks, Detroit, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. KNOXVILLE -- Evelyn Dowell
Jones Hayes, 71, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, in Baptist Hospital.
Survivors include two sons, Willard S.
Jones and Michael W. Jones, both of Knoxville; one daughter, Judy A. Marsh, Knoxville; four sisters, Dorothy Chapman, Mildred Stewart, Elsie Surber, all of Saltville; and Sheila Smith, Richmond, Va.; three brothers, David Dowell, Greensboro, N.C.; Douglas Dowell, Manassas, Va., and Paul Dowell, Saltville, Va.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Burial will be in Knoxville, Tenn.

Roby H. Hopkins
PORT CLINTON, Ohio -- Roby H. Hopkins, 74, of South Liz Lane, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at his home.
He was a native of Bristol, Virginia.
He was employed for 36 years at U.S. Gypsum Company, Gypsum, Ohio, retiring in 1984.
He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed working with mechanics in his spare time.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva DeFriece Hopkins; one son, Ernest A. Hopkins, Port Clinton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; four step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday in Clyde, Ohio.

SWORDS CREEK -- Douglas Eugene Hubbard, 28, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, in the
Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native of Richlands, Va., and resided in the Swords Creek area his entire lifetime.
He was a graduate of Honaker High School and a member of Bethel Chapel Church at Swords Creek.
He was a former employee of E. Dillon & Company, Swords Creek.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Hess Hubbard; one son, Channing Douglas Hubbard, of the home; his parents, Roger Lee and Sylvia Dye Hubbard, Swords Creek; one sister, Cathy Smith, Swords Creek; two brothers, Jackie Hubbard, Elk Garden, Va., and Robert Wayne Hubbard, N.Y.; his maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Ida Hess, Swords Creek; and nine nieces and nephews.

ROANOKE -- Kermit Kiser, 65, of Goodview, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997, in a Roanoke Hospital.
He was a member of the Barnhardt Baptist Church and retired from Wilson Trucking Company.

He was a native of Norton before moving to Elkins, Ark.
He was a line supervisor at Daisy BB Company in Fayetteville, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Miller; one son, Ricky Miller, of the home; his mother, Mrs. Joe (Faye) Volpi, Elkins, Ark.; his father, Joe Miller, Norton; two brothers, Joseph Miller Jr. and Randy Miller, both of Norton; one sister, Debbie Sproles, Elkins, Ark.

BUCHANAN COUNTY -- Billy Conn Mullins, 55, of the Little Prater Section, Route 4, Grundy, Va., died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997.
He was a native of Buchanan County and a coal operator and merchant.
He was a member of the IOOF No. 17, of Grundy.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Justice Mullins; one daughter, Mrs. Greg (Tammy) Mullins Williamson, Grundy; one son, Billy Joe Mullins, Grundy; two sisters, Dorothy Grusholt, Naples, Fla., and Shirley Dexter, Grundy; three brothers, Harold Mullins, Vansant, Va., Victor Mullins and Tolbert Mullins, both of Grundy.

CLINTWOOD -- Elmer Newberry, 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997.
He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and attended the Clintwood Methodist Church.
He was a U. S. veteran of World War II and a participant in the D-Day Invasion of Omaha Beach with the 1st Division.
He was a member of the DAV, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Purple Heart Organization.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Lockhart Newberry; one daughter, Eleanor Mullins, Kingsport, Tenn.; one son, Jeffrey West Newberry, Clintwood; one sister, Helen Moore, Clintwood; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Raymond Ringley
Raymond Ringley, 79, of 2635 Everett Street, Bristol, Virginia, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tenn.
He was a native of Washington County, Va., prior to moving to Bristol.
He was a retired painter and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Eula L. Ringley; one son, David Allen Ringley, Bristol; two step-sons, Con Mason and Joe Mason, both of Bristol, Virginia; four step-daughters, Frances Willette, Bristol, Tennessee, Margie Hammett, Fla., Ruby Gillespie and Mary Hayes, both of Tazewell, Va.; one brother, Elmer Ringley, Bristol, Virginia; two grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several step-great grandchildren.
