Nora Ethel Campbell, 88, of 2434 Shakesville Road, Bristol, Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, in Cambridge House.
She was a native of Blountville, and had lived in Florida and New York until moving to Bristol in 1995.
She was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College and was a member of First Christian Church, Tampa, Fla.
Survivors include one niece, Mary Ellen Collins,
Johnson City; and one nephew, George Campbell, Bristol, Virginia.

Vestal C. Carr
BLUFF CITY -- Vestal C. Carr, 86, of 671 Bunker Hill Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at his home.
He was a native of
Carter County and was a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church.
He was a farmer and retired employee of Beaunit Fibers.
He was also a member of Zollicoffer Masonic Lodge No. 444 F&AM, of Bluff City.
Survivors include one son, Mickey A. Carr, Bluff City; one daughter, Phyllis Carr Maines, Bluff City; one sister, Beulah Woodrow Stanfield, Bluff City; two grandsons, Rocky Maines, Bluff City, and Todd Maines, Elizabethton; two granddaughters, Jill Maines Sakellar, Bluff City, and Melanie Carr Bowen, Liberty, S.C.; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

WYTHEVILLE -- Mrs. Gladys "Goff" French, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, in Wythe County Community Hospital.
She was a member of West End United Methodist Church, Wytheville, and was the widow of Robert E. French Sr.
Survivors include one son, Robert E. "Bob" French Jr., Abingdon; one daughter, June Cardwell, Wytheville; two sisters, Edna Henderson, Bristol, Tennessee, and Flo Knutson, Florida; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Roberta A. Gent
ABINGDON -- Ms. Roberta Ann Gent, 64, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at her home.
She was a native of Honaker and had lived her early life in the Honaker area.
She was a graduate of Honaker High School and later graduated from University of Miami. She taught school in several states and foreign countries.
She had lived in Abingdon for several years, moving there from Boston, Mass.
She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Abingdon.
Survivors include three sisters, Virginia MacLeod, Kilmarnock, Va., Helen Coulling, Bluefield, W.Va., and Geanette Lewis, Lebanon; one brother, C.H. "Bud" Gent, Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews.

VANSANT -- Ethel Mae Gilbert, 75, of Route 1, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
She was a native of Buchanan County and a member of Big A Mountain Free Christian Church, Honaker.
Survivors include her husband, Carson Graden Gilbert; seven sons, William Jackie Gilbert, Bobby Rufus Gilbert, Ernest Cooper Gilbert, Roger Carson Gilbert and Jessie Lee Gilbert, all of Vansant, Billy Ralph Gilbert, Raven, and Tommy James Gilbert, Honaker; three daughters, Ruby Mae Hurley, Geneva Jackson and Zella Gay Deel, all of Vansant; four sisters, Crissie Munsey, Honaker, Blanch Childress and Carrie Owens, both of Ligonier, Ind., Thelma Fleming, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one brother, Junior Runyon, Vansant; 31 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Harold P. Hinchey
Harold Preston Hinchey, 59, of Bristol, Tennessee, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Abingdon, and had lived most of his life in Bristol, Tennessee.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in Korea and was a lifetime member of the DAV Post No. 57.
He was also a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clara Ellen Belcher Hinchey; two sons, Harold Preston Hinchey Jr., Saltville, and Terry Wayne Hinchey, Kingsport; one daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Hinchey Campbell, Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, Claude Ray Hinchey, Stevens City, Va.; six sisters, Mrs. John (Georgia) Wilson, Mrs. Roy (Marie) Crusenberry, Mrs. James (Irene) Harless, Mrs. John (Katherine)

CLINCHPORT, Va. -- Muriel G. Moore Lawson, 75, of Route 4, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
She was a native of Wise County, Va., but had lived in Scott County. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She was also a member of Redhill Memorial Church.
She was the widow of James Roy Lawson.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Tyson, Detroit, Mich., and Bobbie Jean Greene, Wayne, Mich.; three sons, Jerry Lawson and Mark Lawson, both of Clinchport, and John Lawson, Romulus, Mich.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Lee Taylor, Clinchport, Helen Attisano, Roswell, Ga., and Beulah Moore; one brother, Edgar Moore, Rochester, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Eula Leatherwood, 84, of 201 Seward Ave., Bristol, Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She had lived most of her life in the Bristol area and was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Vergie Brummitt, Bristol, Virginia, Ethel Stewart, Sparta, Tenn., and Jane Honto, Bristol, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Ina E. Lowe
GRUNDY -- Mrs. Ina Ellen Lowe, 79, of Heritage Hall, formerly of Rockbridge Ave., Richlands, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, in a Grundy hospital.
She was a native of Iowa and was a former carrier for the Bluefield Daily Telegraph for 25 years.
She was a charter member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, Richlands, Va.
She was a member of the XYZ Senior's Organization at Gethsemane Baptist Church and a member of the Richlands Homemakers Club.
She was the widow of Ernest W. "Traveler" Lowe.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ed (Omega) Mitchell, Jewell Valley, Va., Miss Martha Lowe, Annadale, Va., Mrs. Wayne (Margaret) Cochran, Bluefield, W.Va., and Mrs. Joel (Mollie) Swicegood, Fairfax, Va.; one son, Danny Matthew Lowe; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John F. McCauley
KETTERING, Ohio -- John F. McCauley, 87, died Monday, Jan. 20, 1997, at his home.
He was a former resident of Coeburn, and was a former Chief of Police at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Cleveland, Ohio.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving two enlistments in the Infantry and was stationed in Panama. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, during World War II as a B-17 gunner and mechanic.
He was a former member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the FOP, and was a member of American Post No. 526, Michael L. Finnell Lodge No. 711, F&AM, and the Scottish Rite Valley, Dayton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" McCauley.
Survivors include two sons, Billy McCauley, Dayton, Ohio and John E. McCauley, London, Ohio; one sister, Sadie McCauley Baker, Pound; two step-sisters, Edith Kilgore and Genette Bledsoe, both of Kingsport; one half-brother, Dallas Compton, Gate City; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
