SUGAR GROVE -- The Rev. C.F. Carter, 88, died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, at his home.
He was a minister for The Church of God of Prophecy for more than 40 years and was a member of The Home Builders Association.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Lee Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Mary M. Testerman Carter; three daughters, Nell Masters, Augusta, Ga., Maxine Woodard, New Castle, Del., and Bobby Joyce Neal, Wilmington, Del.; four sons, Vernon C. Carter, New Castle, Lewis Carter, Newark, Del., Randall E. Carter, Bear, Del., and Richard L. Carter, New Castle, Del.; five step-children including a special step-son, Ed Testerman, Speedwell, Va.; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pearl Tillison Cox, 77, of 13790
Smith Creek Road, Bristol, Va., died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va.
She was a former employee of the Big Jack Manufacturing Co. and a member of Old Airport Road Baptist Church in Bristol Virginia.
She was the widow of Carl Thurman Cox.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Glenda Andis, Bristol Virginia; one son, Earl Cox, Bristol Virginia; three sisters, Mrs. Selma Owens, Mrs. Hope Gill and Mrs. Christine Wooten, all of Danville, Va.; four brothers, the Rev. Coy Wise, Bristol Virginia, Robert "Bob" Wise, Charles Wise and Carl Wise, all of Danville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong resident of Sandy Ridge.

She was the widow of her first husband, James Edwards.

ABINGDON -- James Cecil Pierce, 78, of 20539 Good Hope Road, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at his home.
He was a native of Clinchburg, Va., but had lived most of his life in Abingdon.
He was a retired electrician and was preceded in death by his wife, Vina Etter Pierce.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. David (Blanche) Fuller, Seneca, S.C.; two sons, Jimmy McClain, Council, Va. and Clifton Garland, Seneca; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
