SUGAR GROVE -- The Rev. C.F. Carter, 88, died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, at his home.
He was a minister for The Church of God of Prophecy for more than 40 years and was a member of The Home Builders Association.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Lee Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Mary M. Testerman Carter; three daughters, Nell Masters, Augusta, Ga., Maxine Woodard, New Castle, Del., and Bobby Joyce Neal, Wilmington, Del.; four sons, Vernon C. Carter, New Castle, Lewis Carter, Newark, Del., Randall E. Carter, Bear, Del., and Richard L. Carter, New Castle, Del.; five step-children including a special step-son, Ed Testerman, Speedwell, Va.; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Seaver- Brown Funeral Service is in charge.

Pearl T. Cox
Mrs. Pearl Tillison Cox, 77, of 13790 Smith Creek Road, Bristol, Va., died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va.
She was a former employee of the Big Jack Manufacturing Co. and a member of Old Airport Road Baptist Church in Bristol Virginia.
She was the widow of Carl Thurman Cox.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Glenda Andis, Bristol Virginia; one son, Earl Cox, Bristol Virginia; three sisters, Mrs. Selma Owens, Mrs. Hope Gill and Mrs. Christine Wooten, all of Danville, Va.; four brothers, the Rev. Coy Wise, Bristol Virginia, Robert "Bob" Wise, Charles Wise and Carl Wise, all of Danville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Campbell Funeral Home, Abingdon, is in charge.

Clyde O. Eldridge
WISE -- Clyde Olin Eldridge, 55, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1996, in Delnor Hospital, St. Charles, Ill.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Eldridge and Barbara Eldridge, both of St. Charles; one son, Olin Eldridge Jr., St. Charles; one sister, Alvonia Miller, Wise; one brother, Bobby Simpson, LaGrange, Ga., and three grandchildren.
Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise, is in charge.

Iva M. Hayes
ST. PAUL, Va. -- Iva Mae Hayes, 70, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, in St. Mary's Hospital, Norton.
She was a lifelong resident of Sandy Ridge.
Survivors include her husband, Emory L. Hayes; one daughter, Susie Hayes, St. Paul; three sisters, Eliza Elizabeth Evans, St. Paul, Dora Trulah Craft and Clara Virginia Hileman, both of Coeburn; three brothers, Lelland Bobby McCoy, Coeburn, Harold Clement McCoy, Castlewood, and Dewey Roger McCoy, Elgin, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, is in charge.

Maggie E. Hudson
Maggie Edwards Hudson, 71, of 3004 Shelby Street, Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a retired employee of Bristol Memorial Hospital and a member of Shelby Street Church of God.
She was the widow of her first husband, James Edwards.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan Edwards, Bristol Tennessee; one son, James Madison Edwards Jr., Morristown, Tenn.; one sister, Texie Hale, Bristol Tennessee; one brother, Ed Cannon, Bristol Virginia; and two grandchildren.

Tedy D. King
BLOUNTVILLE -- Tedy Davis King, 92, died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Scott County and had lived in Blountville for the past 60 years.
He was retired from the Williams Co.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Leonard King; one daughter, Barbara Cross, Blountville; two sons, Paul King, Johnson City, and Ray King, Bluff City; and three grandchildren.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary L. Legard
MARION -- Mary Lee Legard, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was the widow of Charles W. "Jack" Legard.
Survivors include three grandsons, Rick Legard, Marshall, N.C., James Legard, Chilhowie, and Tony Legard, Bristol Virginia; four granddaughters, Cindy Cunningham, Westerville, Ohio, Debbie West, Jacksonville, Fla., Linda Kiddman, Roanoke, and Brenda Colgan, Burlington, N.J.; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Homer L. Leonard Sr.
Homer Lee Leonard Sr., 73, of 308 Rosewood St., Bristol, Tenn., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Bristol Virginia, a World War II veteran and a retired tree surgeon.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Herma Deel Leonard; four daughters, Mrs. Bill (Carolyn) Malone and Darlene Messenger, both of Bristol Tennessee, Mrs. David (Donna) Sneed, Bluff City, and Mrs. Loren (Karen) Kurtz, Franklinton, N.C.; four sons, Homer Lee Leonard Jr., Egegik, Alaska, Gary Leonard, Louisville, Ky., Dennis Leonard, Bluff City, and Joseph Leonard, Blountville; two sisters, Hazel Booher, Bristol Virginia and Beatrice Pickle, Bristol Virginia; one brother, Jeter Leonard, Bristol Virginia; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Carrie E. McBride
MARION -- Carrie Evelyn Rader Jonas McBride, 60, of Route 1, Atkins, died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, in Wytheville Community Hospital.
She was a native of Tennessee and had lived in Smyth County for several years.
Survivors include her husband, N. Lee McBride, Atkins; three daughters, Sharon A. Minter, Rural Retreat, Va., Mitzi G. Nelson, Marion, and Deena R. King, Climax, N.C.; two sons, Douglas C. Jonas, Blacksburg, Va., and Jonathan F.W. Jonas, Bluefield, W.Va.; her mother, Faye Mickels, Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, Jay D. Rader, Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Mary F. Felts, Phoenix, Ariz., Dorthy A. Beasley, Pensacola, Fla., and Wilma L. Rader, Burlington, N.J.; 24 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Daisy S. McGlothlin
HONAKER, Va. -- Mrs. Daisy Sykes McGlothlin, 79, died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, in a Richlands, Va. hospital.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Russell County and was a member of the Tunnel Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Coy McGlothlin.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Miller, Honaker, and Mrs. Wanda Varney, Richlands, Va.; one son, Kermit Lee McGlothlin, Honaker; one sister, Hazel Thomas, Bent Mountain, Va.; two brothers, Russell Sykes, Honaker, and Dallas Sykes, Rosedale, Va.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert L. Osborne
SALTVILLE -- Robert L. Osborne, 70, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Havens) Osborne.
Survivors include three sons, Howard Osborne and Willis Osborne, both of Saltville, and Charles Osborne, Chilhowie; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
The D.R. Henderson Funeral Home, Saltville, is in charge.

James C. Pierce
ABINGDON -- James Cecil Pierce, 78, of 20539 Good Hope Road, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at his home.
He was a native of Clinchburg, Va., but had lived most of his life in Abingdon.
He was a retired electrician and was preceded in death by his wife, Vina Etter Pierce.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. David (Blanche) Fuller, Seneca, S.C.; two sons, Jimmy McClain, Council, Va. and Clifton Garland, Seneca; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
