TAZEWELL, Va. -- Nancy Jane Wash "Granny" Alford, 68, died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, in a Kingsport hospital.
She was a native of Rockbridge County, Va.
She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Tazewell.
She was the widow of Calvin F. Alford Sr.
Survivors include four sons, Calvin F. Alford Jr.; G. Michael Alford, Robert B. Alford and Willie S. Alford, all of Tazewell; three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Susan A.) Dowdy and Mrs. Tom (Jenny A.) Walk, both of Tazewell, and Mrs. Dean (Mary A.) Adkins, Newport, Tenn.; one brother, Hubert E. "Pete" Wash Jr., Chesapeake, Va.; one sister, Peggy Jo Chaffin, Huntington, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home, Tazewell, is in charge.

Carl K. Branham
Carl Kenneth Branham, 64, of Bristol Tennessee, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, in Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a native of Washington County and lived most of his life in Sullivan County.
He was retired from Eaton Construction Co., Bristol Tennessee.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Branham; one daughter, Tressa Jacobs, Bristol Tennessee; two sisters, Joann Coffie, Erwin, and Jewell Bible, Johnson City; two stepsons, Kenneth J. Branch and Charles C. Branch, both of Johnson City; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three nephews; and one niece.
Woodall-Anderson Funeral Home, Johnson City, is in charge.

Howard T. Bruner
Howard T. "Pap" Bruner, 84, of 11-19th Street, Bristol, Va., died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area.
He was a retired employee of Valleydale Packers and a member of the Shelby Masonic Lodge No. 162 AF&AM.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Whittaker and Anne Icenhour, both of Bristol; one son, William A. Bruner, Bristol; one sister, Ruth Tester, Suffolk, Va.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

William G. Davis
SWORDS CREEK -- William Gilmer "Bill" Davis, 76, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, in an Abingdon hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Swords Creek, and a member of the Swords Creek Community Baptist Church.
He was a retired employee of Southwest Virginia Dump Bodies, Richlands.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Dye Davis; eight daughters, Annette White, Diane Davis, Teresa Schweingruber and Denise Miller, all of Swords Creek, Billie Davis, Roanoke, Brenda Able of Pounding Mill, Barbara Payne, Chesterfield and Gayle Musick, Lebanon; one son, Wayne Davis, Swords Creek; one brother, James A. Davis, Falls Mills, Va.; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Biagio DiCarlantonio
POTOMAC, Md. -- Biagio DiCarlantonio, 95, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, in a Washington, D.C., hospital.
He was a native of Italy and had lived in the United States since 1922.
He was a retired railroad employee and a former employee of D.C. Transit in Washington, D.C.
He was of the Catholic faith and served in the Italian Army in World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beulah Ball DiCarlantonio; two sons, Norman DiCarlantonio, Erie, Colo., and Christopher Michael Betcher, Potomac; one daughter, Carolyn Saling, Rockville, Md.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Harold C. Farnsworth
MEMPHIS -- Harold C. Farnsworth, 66, died Nov. 23, 1996, in Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis.
He was a native of Bristol and the owner and president of Farnsworth Armored Inc. of Memphis.
He was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Farnsworth, three daughters and one son, all of Memphis; his mother, Deva Farnsworth, Eureka, Ark.; and one brother, Roger Farnsworth, Eureka.
Funeral services were held Nov. 25 in Memphis.

Earl B. Gibson
Mrs. Earl Brooks Gibson, 90, of Edgemont Towers, Bristol Tennessee, died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996.
She was a native of Lebanon and had lived in Bristol the past 11 years.
She was a member of the Willis Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of C.W. Gibson.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy L. "Hoot" Gibson, Bristol Tennessee; and four sisters, Mrs. Lillian Mumpower and Mrs. Louise Bunn, both of Bristol Tennessee, Mrs. Rose Ella Harris, Birmingham, Ala., and Mrs. Patty Jean Barker, Lakeland, Fla.
Russell County Funeral Home is in charge.

Shirley B. Goff
BLUFF CITY -- Shirley Bascum Goff, 61, of 4481 Bluff City Highway Lot No. 6, died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, at his home.
He was a native of Meadowview.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Joe (Wenoka) Bowers, Bluff City; one niece, Lisa Bowers, Bluff City; one nephew, Chris Goff, Bluff City; and one great-niece and great-nephew.

William U. Havens
SPRING LAKE, N.C. -- William U. Havens, 83, of 1420 Elma Street, died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, in Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, N.C.
He was a retired Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Ok Yon Havens; one daughter, Peggy Shepherd, Arizona; one son, William Joe Havens, Las Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, Muncy Havens, Atkins, Va., Walter Havens, Sugar Grove, Va. and Floyd Havens, Marion; two sisters, Beatrice Parks, Sugar Grove, and Della Mae Stowers, Wytheville; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Estelle M. Hensley
HILTONS, Va. -- Estelle M. Hensley, 76, of Route 1, died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, in Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was a native of Scott County in the Hiltons area.
She was a former employee of the Kingsport Press and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Hiltons Ruritan Club and a member of Hiltons United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Chester "Nig" Hensley; one daughter, Peggy Hensley, of the home; one sister, Mrs. Warren (Ettna) Faulk, Kingsport; one brother, Ervin McMurray, Hiltons; and several nieces and nephews.
Scott County Funeral Home, Gate City, is in charge.

Janice S. Lester
BIG ROCK, Va. -- Janice Stump Lester, 58, died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, in Bowman Gray Medical Center, Winston Salem, N.C.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Buchanan County.
She was a member of Big Rock Church of Christ and was a homemaker.
She was the widow of Ralph Ed Lester.
Survivors include three sons, Paul Lester, Ron Keith Lester and Gary Dean Lester, all of Big Rock, Va.; one sister, Edna Stump, Ohio; two brothers, Bill Stump, Oakwood, Va. and Jim Stump, California; and four grandchildren.
