Murray
Robert Marvin Murray, age 70, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997 at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, N.C.
Mr. Murray was born in Marion on June 23, 1927, the son of John Albert and Bertha Rice Murray. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired employee of Christ the King Church. Mr. Murray was of the Baptist faith and was married to Rachel Adams Murray, who died in 1992.
Surviving are one daughter, Susan Roseberry and husband Dan of Sophia, N.C.; one son, Rev. Eddie Murray and wife Lawanda of Thomasville, N.C.; two sisters, Helen Gullion of Bristol and Hazel Lynch of Marion; two grandchildren, Bobby Roseberry and Kyle Murray.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. in the Harold C. Davis Funeral Chapel with Dr. Keith Letterman and the Rev. Elton Wilborne officiating. Pruitt
Elizabeth Nelson Pruitt, age 62, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997 at her home in Chilhowie.
She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, Glade Spring.
Survivors include one son, Leon Pruitt, Glade Spring; one daughter, Margaret Alderman Davis, Newnan, Ga.; two brothers, Robert Nelson, Columbia, S.C., and Walter Nelson, Saltville; two sisters, Lucille Munch, Chilhowie, and Shirley Clark, Marion; three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mancel Salyer and the Rev. Donnie Mullinax officiating. Burial was in Elizabeth Cemetery.

Stull
Beatrice Dean Stull, age 92, died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997 in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie. She was formerly of Fayetteville, W.Va., and was the widow of Wallie Edward Stull.
She was housemother at Johnston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Abingdon for a number of years until they closed the school and was housemother at the Blue Ridge Job Corp in Marion until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by one son, John D. Stull, and one daughter, Phyllis Bonham.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth S. Tremblay, Greenville, S.C., and Mrs. W.N. (Retta) Greever, Chilhowie; one sister, Ruby D. Martin, Nitro, W.Va.; two grandsons; four granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one son-in-law, Dr. William N. Greever.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in
Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark McFadden officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 15, in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, W.Va., with the Rev. Hazel Marie Guinn Tuell, age 51, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997 at her home in Meadowview.
Survivors include two sons, Lee Tuell, Meadowview, and Gene Tuell, Saltville; her mother, Gracie Guinn, Abingdon; four brothers, Roy Guinn and Bo Guinn, both of Abingdon, Robert Guinn, Washington D.C., and Gene Guinn, New Market; one sister, Mary Jacobs, Abingdon; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were conducted Monday, Oct. 13, in Farris Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Surber officiating.

Richard Russell (Russ) Vance, age 35, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997 in Wilmington, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Sawyers Vance; three daughters, Kasey Vance, Holly Vance and Mandy Vance, all of the home; his parents, Sonny and Brenda Vance, Chilhowie; one brother, Steve Vance, Chilhowie; two sisters, Tammy V. Clary, Chilhowie, and Susan V. Domann, Concord, N.C.; several nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in St. James Lutheran Church with the Rev. Melissa Chappell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wolfe
William Arthur Wolfe Jr., age 91, died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997 at his home in Chilhowie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Lester Wolfe.
He was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann W. Wheeler, Chilhowie, and Jane Quartel, Orlando, Fla.; four grandsons, Bill Wheeler, Raleigh, N.C., James Wheeler, Richmond, Rob Quartel, Washington D.C., and Jim Quartel, Orlando, Fla.; one granddaughter, Kathryn Wheeler, Richmond; four great-grandchildren; three close friends, Roberta Armstrong, Marion, Jim DeBord, Chilhowie, and Jerry Kelly, Raleigh, N.C.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Powers officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Glenn Trigg Copenhaver, age 82, of Wytheville, formerly of Rural Retreat, died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997 in Edgemont Center.
He was born Feb. 25, 1915 in Rural Retreat, the son of the late Emerson Trigg and Nancy Buchanan Copenhaver. He was a life member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rural Retreat and was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Agriculture (Weights & Measures Division).
He was preceded in death by one brother, James H. Copenhaver and his sister, Mary C. Ackiss.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beulah Chapman Copenhaver of the home; one daughter, Martha Chapman Rocco, Glendale, Ariz.; three sons and daughter-in-law, Glenn Trigg and Linda Copenhaver II, Waynesboro, Benny Buchanan Copenhaver, Bristol, and Warren Lynn Copenhaver, Fayetteville, N.C.; one sister, Ruth C. Porter, Hampton; 10 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held today, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat with Pastor Larry M. Bollinger officiating. A lunch and reception will be served immediately following at Grace Lutheran Church. The family requests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Grace Lutheran Church, P.O. Minnie James Cornett, age 99, of Troutdale, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997 in Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Cornett was the widow of Floyd A. Cornett. She was born May 24, 1898 at Flatridge to David James and Virginia Missouri Slemp James.
Surviving are three daughters and son-in-law, Clara Cornett Nelson, Merrett Island, Fla., Virginia Cornett Haga Farmer, Marion, and Kathleen Cornett and George Funk Jr., Independence; one son and daughter-in-law, Floyd A. "Tommy" and Jane Crigger Cornett, Wytheville; a son-in-law, Roy D. Greer, Pulaski; two sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Delp, Elk Creek, Elizabeth and Monroe Nelson of Galax and Marion; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. in Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel in Independence with the Rev. Fred E. Jennings and the Rev. Eddie Beck officiating. Interment will be in Central Cemetery, Flatridge. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
