Farris
Laura M. Parks Farris, age 87, of Meadowview, died Saturday, July 26, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was a native of Fairwood and had lived most of her life in Washington and Smyth counties.
She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Blackwell Chapel Union Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest H. "Shorty B" Farris; two sons, John Preston Farris and an infant son.
Survivors include four sons, William B. Farris, Dover, Del., Charles L. "Buck" Farris, Niceville, Fla., James E. "Jim" Farris, Lebanon, and the Rev. Ted O. Farris, Gallup, N.M.; three daughters, Laura E. "Teeny" Coe and Nina R. Crabtree, both of Marion, and Betty M. Bordwine, Saltville; 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and five nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, July 30, in Farris Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Roberts and the Rev. Carol Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Blackwell Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blackwell Chapel Cemetery Fund, 8214 Blackwell Chapel Road, Meadowview, VA 24361.

Houck
Dorothy Hubble Houck, age 73, died Sunday, July 27, 1997 at the Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Todd Houck.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Compton of Marion; two sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald Houck and Edward and Dana Houck, all of Fredericksburg; one sister, Nora Wygal of Dublin; one brother, Robert Hubble of Abingdon; six grandchildren: Russell Houck, Melissa Thompson, Rhonda Vose, Beth Stover, Todd Houck, and Greta Houck; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kaitlin, Crystal, Macie and Adam; extended family includes the members of the Smyth County Dialysis Unit and the Caretakers of the Francis Marion Manor.
Funeral services will be held today, July 30, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-
Brown Chapel with the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Brown Martin Ingram, age 84, widow of James "Jack" Ellis Ingram, died Sunday, July 27, 1997 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
She is survived by two daughters, Iris Fay Goodman of Lenoir City, Tenn., and Mary Ann Halsey of Albuquerque, N.M.; one son, James Sherrell Ingram of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one sister, Martha "Mattie" Nunn of Hampton; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Nancy E. McKinney, age 58, of Chilhowie, died Thursday, July 24, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was a member of Chilhowie Church of God.
Survivors include her mother, Thelma H. McKinney, Chilhowie; one brother, James F. McKinney, Dublin; one sister-in-law, Joan H. McKinney, Dublin; six grand-nieces and grand-nephews; 11 great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews; and two step-nieces and step-nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, in Chilhowie Church of God with the Rev. E.B. Ford and the Rev. Elbert Cox officiating. Burial followed in Elizabeth Cemetery.

Novak
Rev. William A. Novak, age 83, of Bristol, died Saturday, July 26, 1997. He was a native of Baltimore, Md., and came to Bristol in 1955 with Raytheon as a systems engineer. He began his ministry service in 1961, attended Emory University and Graham Bible College, was ordained in 1969 and continued his 36-year ministry serving the community and surrounding areas until his retirement in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Novak of Bristol; four daughters, Patricia Wingard of Deltona, Fla., Teresa

Johnson of Charlottesville and Linda
Johnson of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 29, at 7:30 p.m. at Akard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rand Forder officiating. Graveside services will be held today, July 30, at 10 a.m. in Glenwood Cemetery.

Blevins
Bonnie Price Blevins, age 92, of Chilhowie, died Thursday, July 31, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Blevins was a native of Grayson County and had lived in Smyth County for over 30 years. She was the widow of Courtney Blevins and a member of the Grosses Creek Baptist Church. She worked as a homemaker all of her life.
Survivors include six daughters: Loraine Robinson, Marion, Dawn Henry, Bristol, Tenn., Eva Walls, Whitetop, Betty Weis, Glade Spring, JoAnn Long, Chilhowie, Joyce Clark, Lansing, N.C.; four sons: R.C. Blevins and Mac Blevins, both of Marion, Jerry Blevins and Phil Blevins, both of Chilhowie; three sisters, Mae McClure, West Jefferson, N.C., Annie Kilby, Independence, Wave Henderson, Rugby; two brothers, Lacey Price, Troutdale, and Charlie Price, Damascus; 34 grandchildren, many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. in Grosses Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Sheets officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to service. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ruth Osborne Clark, age 79, died Thursday, July 31, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
She was a native of Saltville and had lived in Washington County for the past 45 years. She was of the Methodist faith and was active in the senior citizens community.
She was the widow of James E. Clark.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy W. and Nancy Clark, Glade Spring; one daughter, Sue Boardwine, Glade Spring; three brothers, Ray Osborne, Coeburn, Ernest Osborne, Bristol, and Calvin Harrison, Bristol, Tenn.; three sisters, Edna Maiden, Abingdon, Bertha Clark, Glade Spring and Bernita Taylor, Broadford; five grandchildren: Tamara Boardwine, Wesley Boardwine, Rick Boardwine, Kimberly Hayes and Jackie Ferley; four great-grandchildren, Austin Boardwine, Derick Boardwine, Kelly Hayes and Cameron Bare; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted today, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m. in Mount Rose Cemetery with the Rev. Edward Arnold officiating.

Delmas Robert "Rass" Garland, age 82, of Saltville, died Wednesday, July 30, 1997 in Bristol Wellmont Hospice Center, Bristol, Tenn.
He was a retired employee of Olin Corporation and a veteran of the Navy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma E. Garland.
Survivors include one brother, Giles Helton, Chilhowie; several nieces and nephews; two aunts, Vivian Blevins and Eva Bailey, both of Abingdon.
Graveside services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, in Elizabeth Cemetery with the Rev. Shirley
Carter officiating. military rites were conducted by the Saltville VFW Post.
