Rosenbaum
Mary Grubb Rosenbaum, age 74, died Wednesday, May 21,1997 in the Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Rosenbaum was born in Wythe County, but lived in Marion for most of her life. She was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church and was the co-owner of Rosenbaum T.V.
Surviving are her husband, James Edward Rosenbalm, Marion; two sisters, Lillian Kate Epperley, Rescue, and Warena Bell Morefield, Orlando, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Rosetta Grubb, Galax; three sisters-in-law, Glade Grubb, Great Falls, Mont., Louise Grubb, Pulaski, and Cecille Rosenbaum, Charlotte, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 23, at 11 a.m. in the Ebenezer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jim Bangle officiating. Burial followed in the New Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ebenezer Lutheran Church building fund.

Spencer
Cecil C. Spencer Sr., age 82, of Charlotte, N.C., died Tuesday, May 20, 1997 in Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Charlotte.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Bise Spencer; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cassandra S. and Edward Bejarano, Tucson, Ariz., and Carolyn S. and Sonny Lescalleet, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; one son, Cecil C. Spencer Jr., Thomasville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, May 24, in Mount Pleasant Church, Saltville, with the Rev. Aubrey Patterson and the Rev. James Wright officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery , Glade Spring.
There will be a memorial service June 11 at Grace Baptist Church, Charlotte, N.C.

Wellman
Geneva Belle Mills Wellman, age 72, of Glade Spring, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
She was a native of McDowell County, W.Va., and had lived in Dickenson County prior to moving to Washington County in 1975.
Survivors include her husband, Laban Wellman; three sons, Bill Wellman, State College, Penn., Jack Wellman, McClure, and Tom Wellman, Glade Spring; one stepson, Ernie Wellman, Leesburg, Fla.; five daughters, Jean Wellman, Bristol, Vada Rose, Clintwood, Lassie Eide, Meadowview, Captain Barbara Wellman, Kunsan Air Base, Korea, and Pamela Heath, Chilhowie; two daughters-in-law, Danna Antoine and Trina Wellman; four sons-in-law, Ronnie Rose, Gary Eide, Andrew Hecker and Ken Heath; three brothers, Elmer Mills, Spotsylvania, Norman Mills, Ligonier, Ind., and Coeburn Mills, Lebanon; two sisters, June Waters, Ligonier, Ind., and Anne Lewis, Kindallville; eight grandchildren: Amber Wellman, Ashley Wellman, Mindy Rose, Joseph Eide, John Eide, Katie Eide, Beau Wellman and Morgan Wellman; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, in Farris Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sidney Mays officiating. Committal services were conducted at noon Friday, May 23, in Sparks Cemetery, Iaeger, W.Va.

Wolfe
Robert Preston Wolfe, age 75, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Mae Wolfe, Crockett; three stepchildren, Barbara Montgomery, Thomas Barnett and Tony Barnett.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 23, at 2 p.m. in Barnett's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial followed in Rose Lawn Cemetery with full military honors being rendered by the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post 4667.

Barker
April Brianna Barker, infant daughter of Brian and Virginia Barker, died Saturday, May 24, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
Survivors in addition to her parents include one brother, Eddie Surber of the home; one sister, Jessica Surber of the home; her grandparents, Mary and Joe Peck, Saltville, and Margaret and David Wayne Barker, Saltville; her great-grandmother, Naomi V. Peck, Russell County; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services were conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, May 26, in Elizabeth Cemetery with the Rev. Shirley
Carter and the Rev. Andy Bresnock officiating.

Claypool
David Earl Claypool, age 59, of Chilhowie, died Thursday, May 22, 1997 in the Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport, Tenn.
He was retired form ACCO Industries of Saltville, past president and director of the Chamber of Commerce of Smyth County, and was a member of the Cattlemen's Association. He attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Marion.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Anne Claypool of Chilhowie; two daughters, Christie Claypool Sheets and Susan Denise Claypool, both of Chilhowie; two sons, John David Claypool and Kevin Matthew Claypool, both of Chilhowie; one daughter-in-law, Lisa Claypool; one sister, Betty Ann Cook of Oceana, W.Va.; three grandchildren: Ty David Sheets, Ryan Matthew Claypool, and Allie McKenzie Sheets.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at the Newberry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Eggers and the Rev. Lloyd Sheets officiating. Interment followed in the Westwood Memory Gardens. There will be a memorial Mass of Resurrection at St. Johns at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 31. Memorial donations may be made to the Chilhowie Rescue Squad.

Edmiston
John William Edmiston, age 74, of Chilhowie, died Sunday, May 25, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Francis Marion VFW Post 4667. He was a farmer and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Eller Edmiston.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John Edgar and Eileen Bruce Edmiston, Melbourne, Fla.; one daughter, Joyce Ann Edmiston, Marion; a brother, Joe Edmiston, Marion; his twin brother, James W. Edmiston, Greenville, Tenn.; two sisters, Elizabeth Dinkins and Alice Cress, both of Chilhowie; his father-in-law, Edgar F. Eller, Chilhowie; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted today, May 28, at 2 p.m. in
Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sage and Mr. Perry Bruce officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chilhowie Rescue Squad.

Gambill
Dale Gambill, age 76, died Friday, May 23, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mr. Gambill was born April 1, 1921 to Hampton and Gertrude Gambill in Ashe County, N.C. He worked as a maintenance man for 30 years for Walter Jackson and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cress Gambill and one daughter, Mary G. Perkins.
Survivors include a loving friend, Mary Hill, Marion; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Janice Gambill, Austin, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia G. and Paul Epperly, Stuarts Draft; one brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Doris Gambill, Maryville, Tenn.; a special niece, Norma Testerman, Marion; a great niece, Faye Ford, Marion; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted Monday, May 26, at 11 a.m. in Roundhill Cemetery in Marion with the Rev. Herman Cress officiating.
