Henegar
Ernestine "Teenie" Henegar, 68, of Saltville, died Thursday, April 24, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
She was a member of the McCready United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Turner Henegar; one son, Charles T. "Fozz" Henegar, Smithville; one daughter, Jane Barrett, Bristol; three brothers, Ted Roberts and Eugene "Beany" Roberts, both of Saltville, and Jim Mellinger, Marion; three sisters, Edna Haga, Abingdon, Mazie Morgan, Prattsville, Ala., and Nell Lambert, Stewarts Draft; two granddaughters, Tatum and Julie Barrett; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in McCready United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Wright, the Rev. Glenda Dennison and the Rev. Howard Hawk officiating. Burial was in Elizabeth Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the McCready United Methodist Church or Community Hospices of America Inc., 540 W. Main St., Wytheville, VA 24382.

McCoy
Melvia McCoy, 76, died Sunday, April 27, 1997 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.
She is survived by her husband, Buford McCoy of Calypso, N.C.; two daughters, Dolores Hayes of Goldsboro, N.C., and Juanita Kelly of Newportville, Penn.; two sons, Dwain McCoy of Lindenwald, N.J., and Gary McCoy of Bangor, Maine; two sisters, Dorothy Gillenwater of Ronks, Penn., and Mary Roberts of Beckley, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, April 30, at 1 p.m. at the Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church in Atkins with the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service.

Mitchell
Ernie Mitchell, 80, died Friday, April 25, 1997 in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie. Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Whited Mitchell of Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Marleda and James Queen of Marion; three grandchildren, Teresa Church, Angie Blevins and Jamie Queen, all of Sugar Grove; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Marchant, Adam Blevins, Paige Queen and Kara Queen; two sisters, Estelle Horne of Bristol, and Ozella Bond of Coeburn; one brother, Ival Mitchell of Richlands; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 27, at 8 p.m. at the Sturgill Funeral Home, Coeburn. Graveside services were held Monday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery, Bristol.

Rupard
Lucille Hayes Rupard, 76, of Greer, S.C., died Friday, April 25, 1997 in Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, S.C.
She was a native of Damascus and had lived in Greer, S.C., for three years. She was a member of Konnarock Seventh Day Adventist Church and the widow of Walter Winfield Rupard. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James Harvey and Rosa Stamper Hayes.
Survivors include two daughters, Gay Daugherty and Sharron Yarber, both of Greer, S.C.; two brothers, J.D. Hayes, Bristol, and James Warren Hayes, Konnarock; one sister, Helena Adams, Konnarock; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, in Konnarock Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Ron Ihrig officiating. Graveside services were conducted in Azen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Timothy Wayne Aker, age 35, of Rural Retreat, died Wednesday, April 30, 1997 in Marion.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Louise Aker of Rural Retreat; one daughter, Rebecca Louise Aker of Rural Retreat; his father, Carl A. Aker Jr. of Rural Retreat; his mother, Edna Stump of Bradenton Beach, Fla.; his grandmother, Mabel Vernon of Marion; one sister, Coritha Juanita Carty of Newport News; two brothers, David Carl Aker of Marion, and James Michael Aker of Rural Retreat; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held today, May 3, at 2 p.m. in Seaver-
Brown Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Wade Edward Barker, age 81, died Tuesday, April 29, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle
Jones Barker.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Kenneth Hall and Brenda and Robert Sexton, all of Marion; one sister, Nannie Parks of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren, Melissa H. Sheffield, Jamie Hall and Samantha Kell; five great-grandchildren, Justin D. Sheffield, John R. Sexton, Christopher Hall, Matthew Hall, and Aaron Kell; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-
Brown Chapel with the Rev. David Neitch and the Rev. Donald Medley officiating. Burial followed in the Slemp Cemetery, Sugar Grove.

Blevins
Okie Virginia Blevins, age 84, widow of Earl Blevins, died Thursday, May 1, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Blevins was a native of Grayson County and had lived most of her life in the Smyth County area. She was employed at Harwood, Southwestern State Hospital, and the Dime Store in Marion for several years.
She was also a member of the Lincoln Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Joann Blevins, Marion; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Viona and Paul Emerson, Troutdale, and Ethel Blevins, Marion; six sisters-in-law, Wilma Rotenberry, Mabel Vernon, Blanche Russell, Ruby Woods, Paris Shelton and Marie King; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, in Barnett's Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Otis Barker, the Rev. Joe Powers and the Rev. Scott Flippen officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memory Gardens in Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Shirley Ann Woods Gross Brown, age 52, of Sugar Grove, died Wednesday, April 30, 1997 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Mrs.
Brown was a native of Smyth County and was a lifelong resident of the Sugar Grove area. She was a member of the Valley View Baptist Church.
Mrs.
Brown was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Mae Woods.
Survivors include her husband, Ray M.
Brown Sr.; three daughters, Jo Ann Gross Woods, Katherine M. Gross Poole, both of Marion, and Sherry L. Gross Testerman, Thomas Bridge; two sons, John F. Gross, Marion, and Ray M.
Brown Jr., Sugar Grove; one sister, Barbara W. Harrington, Adwolfe; two brothers, Roger F. Woods, Chilhowie, and Steve L. Woods, Marion; 10 grandchildren: John Gross Jr., Angel Gross, Sunshine Gross, Destiny Gross, Stephanie Woods, Stacy Woods, Sonya Woods, Natasha Poole, Jessica Poole and Jason Earl Testerman.
Funeral services will be conducted today, May 3, at 2 p.m. in Valley View Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Frost and the Rev. Marion Boggs officiating. Interment will follow in Slemp Cemetery.
