Billie Rhea Hayden, 63, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was a member of the Buckeye Hollow Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Hayden, Saltville; three sons, Ronnie Hayden, Marion, Bobby Hayden, Glade Spring, and Jerry Hayden, of the home; five daughters, Sandy O'Quinn, Saltville, Carol Stevenson, Marion, Robin Blevins, Glade Spring, Tina Kegley, Atkins, and Sally Reed, of the home; three sisters, Pauline Kestner, Evelyn
Johnson and Edna Davidson, all of Saltville; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted today, April 19, at 11 a.m. in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Briggs and the Rev. Wade Kestner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.

Holley
Vida Hicks Holley, of Glade Spring, died Monday, April 14, 1997 in Francis Marion Manor. She was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include three sons, Fred Hicks, Glade Spring, Perry Hicks, Bristol, and Ralph Hicks, Chilhowie; one sister, Mary Payne, Hampton, Tenn.; five grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in Mount Rose Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Dunn officiating.

Newton
Pascal Wiseman "Jack" Newton, 71, of Saltville, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Newton.
He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and the Raytheon Company.
Survivors include one son, Jackie Thomas Newton, Saltville; one daughter, Phyllis Ann Newton, Saltville; three sisters, Daisy L. Northington, Taylorsville, Miss., Mrs. William Selby, Walls, Miss., and Mrs. Pershing Spruill, Greenwood, Miss.; one brother, J.H. Newton, Jackson, Miss.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, April 19, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Olinger officiating. Burial will be in Elizabeth Cemetery with the Saltville V.F.W. Post 7328 conducting military rites. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Saltville Rescue Squad.

Stamper
Avery Dale "Popeye" Stamper, 47, of Wytheville, formerly of Chilhowie, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was the grandson of the late Harvey and Hattie Powers Stamper and Calvin and Maggie Pennington Campbell.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Elizabeth Sexton Stamper of Wytheville; his parents, James and Lucille Campbell Stamper, Chilhowie; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma and Ron Irwin, Jacksonville, Fla., Sadie and Brad Greer, and Ruby Powers, all of Chilhowie; two brothers and sister-in-law, Don Stamper, and Millard and Cherylee Stamper, all of Chilhowie; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m. in the Parkers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with burial in the Macedonia Cemetery, Chilhowie.

Webb
Mildred F. Webb, 80, died Thursday, April 17, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was a member of the Plasterco United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Bruce Webb; one sister, Glenna W. McKee; and one brother, Charles Webb.
Survivors include two sisters, Edith Carpenter, Roanoke, and Mrs. Roy E. (Dixie) Martin, Charlotte, N.C.; one brother and sister-in-law, William E. and Martha Webb, Fincastle; one brother-in-law, Robert V. McKee, Glade Spring; special cousins, Mary and Lawrence Cumbo, and Ethel Lawrence; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. today, April 19, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Hazelwood officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery.

Edwin Bradley Sanders
Edwin Bradley Sanders, 86, died Tuesday, April 22, 1997, at his home.
Sanders was a lifelong resident of Chilhowie. Sanders, a retired United States Postmaster, served four years as a Chilhowie town councilman and eight years as the town's mayor.
Sanders also served as the chairman of the Chilhowie Redevelopment and Housing Authority. He assisted in getting help from the Tennessee Valley Authority to relocate the residents of Railroad Avenue out of the 100 year flood plain.
Sanders was an active member of the Seven Mile Ford Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Chilhowie Lions Club. Sanders was also a 50-year member of the Chilhowie Masonic Lodge Number 250; the Lynn Commandry 9 and the Marion Royal Arch Chapter 54.
Chilhowie Mayor John Mason said Sanders was, "a fine friend. We worked together a long time, I was a vice-mayor for him. He had a lot of friends who will miss him terribly. The Lions Club will miss him, for sure."
Chilhowie Clerk-Treasurer Katherine Tuell said Sanders was, "a super guy. He was excellent to work for. He was a person who cared about everyone."
Marlene Henderson, Tuell's assistant said, "Mayor Sanders was a good fellow to work with. We worked on the housing relocation together. We'll all miss him."
Bill Blevins, Chilhowie's representative on the Smyth County Board of Supervisors, said he worked with Sanders on many projects. "Ed was just a solid person. He was very loyal to his lodge and his community. We worked together over 37 years. You just won't find many any solider than Ed. We will miss him a lot at the lodge and in the community in general. He was just a fine, loyal person," Blevins said.
Sanders was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Sydnor Sanders. He is survived by one son, the Rev. E. Benjamin Sanders, Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Betsy Slemmer, Redlands, Calif.; a sister, Carlotta S. Franklin, Delray Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Rev. Timothy E. Bird conducted funeral services at 11 a.m., Friday, April 25, in the Seven Mile Ford Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in the Beatie section of Westwood Memorial Gardens, Chilhowie.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Seven Mile Ford Presbyterian Church.
Cutlip
Evelyn DeBord Cutlip, 65, of Saltville, died Wednesday, April 23, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, James "Jimmy" Cutlip; two brothers, Carlton DeBord, Petersburg, Penn., and Mackie DeBord, Chesapeake; three sisters, Effie Reese, Gap, Penn., Nancy Henderson, Goshen, Ind., and Brenda Rye, Saltville; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Matthew Helton.
Funeral services will be conducted today, April 26, at 2 p.m. in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Mumpower officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
