Moser
Charles Baker Moser, age 82, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mr. Moser was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. He was the former president of the Carpenters Union Local 176 and served on the Virginia State AFL/CIO Executive Board. He also worked for the West Virginia State Apprenticeship Council.
Survivors include his wife, Eliza Pickle Moser, Chilhowie; one daughter, Linda Moser McClure, Chilhowie; two sons, James E. Moser, DeBary, Fla., and Gene Moser, Taylors, S.C.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. in Barnett's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Otis Barker and the Rev. Avery Sheets officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Patterson
Daisy Woodward Patterson, age 73, of Burgin, Ky., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997 in Ephraim McDowell Medical Center, Danville, Ky. She was the widow of G.B. Patterson Jr.
Mrs. Patterson was a native of Saltville and a homemaker. She was a member of the Burgin Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Judy) Carey, Harrodsburg, Ky.; four brothers, David Woodward, Marion, Thomas D. Woodward, Roanoke, John H. Woodward, Halifax, and William K. Woodward, Abingdon; two sisters, Helen Campbell and Mary L. Fields, both of Saltville; one granddaughter; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, in the Ransdell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Geoff Barrett officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Scyphers
Gay Cumbow Scyphers, age 75, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997 at her home in Abingdon.
She was a native of Russell County and had lived most of her life in Washington County. She was a member of Greendale Chapel and was a former employee of People, Inc. She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Cumbow.
Survivors include her husband, Reece Scyphers; three sons, Evan Scyphers, Marion, Cecil Scyphers and David Scyphers, both of Abingdon; two daughters, Delores Jones, Roanoke, and Patty Cochran, Abingdon; two brothers, J.W. Cumbow, Rural Retreat, and Ronald Cumbow, Atkins; four sisters, Pauline Holmes, Abingdon, Alice Cumbow, Bristol, Jean Thompson, Greer, S.C., and Dorothy ReMine, Roanoke; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, in Greendale Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Burial was in Knollkreg Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Greendale Chapel, P.O. Box 1314, Abingdon, VA 24312.

Thompson
Ennis Lundy Thompson, age 83, of Chilhowie, died Friday, Feb. 21, 1997 at her home. She attended the Lowman Valley Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Millsaps, Chilhowie; one son, Fred Heffinger, Bristol, Tenn.; one sister, Gladys Adams, Independence; four half brothers, Joseph Jack Lundy, Chilhowie, Bill Lundy, Roanoke, Owen Lundy and Ed Lundy; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Newberry Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Hutton and Charles Turley officiating. Burial followed in the Middlefork Cemetery.

Tibbs
Woodrow Tibbs, age 83, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997 at his home in Marion.
Mr. Tibbs was retired from the Franklin Furniture Company in Greenville, Tenn., where he worked for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife, Flossie Lucille Tibbs, Marion; two daughters, Earline Blakely, Clio, Mich., and Lucille McFarlane, Kingsport, Tenn.; one son, Frank Tibbs, Dade City, Fla.; one brother, Garland Tibbs, Rural Retreat; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. in the Faith Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.B. Arthur and the Rev. Bobby Sawyers officiating. Interment followed in Wassum Cemetery.

VanHuss
Kermit R. "Dick" VanHuss, age 52, of Damascus, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, was employed by Mike Wills as a milk hauler, and was a lifelong farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Louise VanHuss; two sons, Will VanHuss, Damascus, and Jay VanHuss, Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, JoAnn Smith, Abingdon, Shirley Neely, Damascus, and Lenna McCall, Meadowview; one grandson, William VanHuss; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, in the
Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Bill Reece officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad, 32094 Government Road, Damascus, VA 24236.

Wright
Gertrude Wright, age 75, of Damascus, died Friday, Feb. 21, 1997 in the Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was the widow of Dub Wright. She was a member of Damascus United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Wayne Shifflett, Damascus; one sister, Lavona Hurley, Meadowview; one grandson, John Shifflett, Damascus; one step-grandson, John Revils, Dewitt, Ark.; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Wright and Nellie Preston; a lifelong special friend, Wanda Doss.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, in
Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Cullop officiating. The committal service and interment was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus.

Brosmer
Raymond J. Brosmer, age 83, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Storms Brosmer of Marion; two sons, Allan Scott Brosmer of Bangor, Maine and Bradley James Brosmer of Parks, La.; one sister, Ruth B. Kane of Ithaca, N.Y.; three stepdaughters, Margie Ann Hamrick of Louisville, Tenn., Sharman Stacey Storms of Marion, and Melody Beth-Ann Billeaud of Youngsville, La.; one stepson, Michael Kent Storms of Hazelton, Penn.; one niece, Karen Kane Nichol of Ithaca, N.Y.; one first cousin, David Phelps of Norwich, N.Y.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held today, March 1, at 5:30 p.m. at the St. John's Catholic Church, Marion, with Father Bob Krenik officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the St. Paul's Cemetery, Norwich, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 North Michigan Ave., Chicago, Ill. 60611. The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the St. John's Catholic Church in Marion.
