Gollehon
Frances Victoria Gollehon, age 91, of Chilhowie, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996 in Francis Marion Manor. She was a member of the Seven Mile Ford Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Gollehon.
She is survived by five daughters: Juanita Crouse and Frances Shorey, both of Chilhowie, Okie Gaetzke, Renton, Nettie Kidd, Lynchburg, and Ruby Gilbert, Marion; three sons, Joe T. Gollehon, Gene Gollehon, and Watson Gollehon, all of Chilhowie; three daughters-in-law, Ann Gollehon, Josephine Gollehon, and Debbie Gollehon; five sons-in-law, Bud Crouse, Lee Gaetzke, Fred Shorey, A.G. Kidd and Bill Gilbert; three sisters, Ocie Farmer, Mecie Rupard, and Effie Wingler, all of Whitetop; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Newberry Funeral Home. A committal service was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at the Gollehon Cemetery.

Holdaway
Howard Rex Holdaway, age 63, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996 at his home in Marion.
He is survived by one sister, Mattie Pritchett and husband William, of Roanoke; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be held today, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at Central Cemetery, Flatridge.

Jackson
Herbert Wilbur Jackson, age 72, of Saltville, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include three brothers, Glenn Jackson and Ervin Jackson, both of Saltville, and Dale Jackson, Tannersville; three sisters, Roxie Davenport, Tannersville, Stella Jackson and Sylvie Woodward, both of Saltville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Franklin Chapman and the Rev. Clarence Frye officiating. Burial was in Elizabeth Cemetery.

Jackson
Shirley Jane Mitchell Jackson, age 50, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
Survivors include her husband, Ira Mike Jackson; three sons, Mick Jackson and Michael Jackson, both of Saltville, and Wade Jackson, Marion; one daughter, Teresa Johnson, Glade Spring; her mother, Littie Mitchell, Glade Spring; one brother, Dennis Mitchell, Bristol; seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers.

Miller
Henry Earl Miller, age 73, of Bristol, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Meadowview and a retired night watchman from Burlington Industries. He was a member of High Point Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva F. Miller; four daughters: Betty Johnson, Janet Arnold and Tammie Gates, all of Bristol, Tenn., and Jan Pentecost, Bristol; one son, Gary Miller,
Johnson City, Tenn.; three sisters, Margaret Branch and Rebecca Stapleton, both of Bristol, and Pearl Widener, Chilhowie; three brothers, Paul Miller, Damascus, Lynn Miller, Marion, and Julian Miller, Bluff City, Tenn.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five step-grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, in Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Gary Garland officiating.

Reedy
Stella Murray Reedy, age 89, of Troutdale, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996 at the Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home. She was the widow of John Daly Reedy. She was born March 18, 1907 in Troutdale, the daughter of Cebert and Sarah Elizabeth Spencer Murray.
Surviving are one daughter, Esther Reedy, Richmond; three grandchildren, Ron Umbel, Miami, Fla., Donna Umbel, Charlotte, N.C., and Rick Umbel, Pawleys Island, S.C.; one sister, Viola Phipps, Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Wiley Murray, Troutdale.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. in the Sugar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Price officiating. Interment will be in Troutdale Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for 30 minutes preceding services.

Ryan
Stella Tucker Ryan, age 70, of Meadowview, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Smyth County and had lived in Meadowview most of her life. She was a graduate of Chilhowie High School and was a member of the Meadowview United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of J.D. "Dan" Ryan. She and her husband had operated Ryan's Service Station in Meadowview until his death.
Survivors include one son, James David Ryan, Meadowview; two sisters, Alice T. Hutton, Marion, and Emma Goodman, Chilhowie; one brother, James A. Tucker, Marion; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. today, Dec. 18, in Campbell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted and those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Meadowview Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 84, Meadowview, VA 24361.

Mattie Shortt Smith, age 74, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996 at her home in Saltville. She was the widow of Eugene M. Smith. She was preceded in death by one son, Charles R. Teague.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda J. Holmes and Minnie J. "Dolly" Smith, both of Saltville; two sons, Robert H. "Dave" Smith, Saltville, and John H. Teague, Powhatan; six grandchildren: Curtis and Charlotte Teague, Sacramento, Calif., John and Joy Teague, Richmond, Robert Eastridge and Jody Smith, both of Saltville; one great-grandchild, Curtis Teague Jr., Sacramento, Calif.

Minnie Irene Spencer died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996 in Valley Health Care Center. She was a native of Glade Spring and a lifelong resident of Washington County.
Survivors include two half-nephews, Glenn Caywood and Garland Caywood, both of Glade Spring; three half-nieces, Mary Croson and Delores Prater, both of Glade Spring, and Sharon Shortridge, Thomas Bridge.
