Robert O. Jackson 27
Robert O. Jackson, 27, of Alexandria died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, as the result of an automobile accident in Oak Grove.
Mr. Jackson worked as a laborer for the City of Alexandria. He was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church in Oak Grove, and was a 1993 graduate of T.C.
Williams High School in Alexandria.
Survivors include his parents, Robert W. and Audrey Jackson of Alexandria; a brother, Vondell Jackson of Alexandria; two daughters, Takeria Saunders and Tásia Jackson, both of Alexandria; and his maternal grandmother, Mary Alice
Green of Colonial Beach.
A funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 3, at Little Zion Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. The Rev. William B. Scott officiated.

Justin Andrew Hartman 21
Justin Andrew Hartmann, 21, of Woodford in Caroline County died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002. He was the son and step-son of Diana and James Reamy of King George County, and brother-in-law of Richard and Krista Wenninger of King George.
Born July 14, 1981, Justin had attended Stafford High School. In school, he had been on the wrestling team. As a young boy, he also enjoyed skateboarding, soccer and bowling, and achieved his brown belt in karate. Justin loved the outdoors, boating, fishing and hunting. He was employed as a cook at Shooter's Restaurant. He was a very devoted father and a loving husband.
In addition to his family of King George, Justin is survived by his wife, Bridget L. Hartmann of Woodford; a daughter, Haylie R. Hartmann of the home; his parents, Dan and Mary McCormick of Fredericksburg; his father, Michael Hartmann of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Jessica L. and Victoria R. McCormick, both of Fredericksburg; a brother, Daniel A. McCormick of Fredericksburg; grandparents, Leigh and Bill Daniels of Fredericksburg and Karl and Emma Hartmann of Ketchum, Okla.; a father-in-law, Duane Wenninger of Sauk Center, Minn.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Brandon Wenninger of Woodford, and Robert and Jennifer Wenninger of Fredericksburg; and numerous other family members and friends. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Massie and Dolly Simpson.
A funeral was held today at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. Interment was in Fairfax Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Richard and Brandon Wenninger, Mike and Tony Zarrella, Christian Lincoln, Randy Kliest, Luis Carrasquillo and Joshua Hurdle.

Margarite Decatur 84
Margarite Decatur, 84, a native of Spotsylvania County, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond. She was the mother of Beverly Lane Decatur Cook and Kenneth Dale Decatur, and mother-in-law of Betty Decatur, all of King George County.
Formerly of 4631 Harrison Road, she is also survived by two granddaughters, Karen and Jennifer; three grandsons, Jeffrey, Michael and Barry; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Found & Sons Funeral Chapels in Fredericksburg. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stafford County. The Rev. Maurice Timberlake officiated.

Nathaniel "Nat" Byrd Sr., 68, of Colonial Beach died at his home Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002.
Mr. Byrd, the son of the late Frank and Otha Jackson Byrd, worked as a laborer.
Survivors include his wife, Louise R. Byrd; three daughters, Evelyn Byrd of Bowling Green, Gladys Byrd
Johnson of Fredericksburg, and Deborah Byrd of Colonial Beach; five sons, Nathaniel Byrd Jr. of King George County, Clifford Byrd of Dahlgren, Gerald Byrd of King George, Kenneth Byrd of Colonial Beach, and Jeffrey Byrd of Ashland; six brothers, Charles Byrd of Colonial Beach, Willie Byrd of King George, Thomas Byrd, Milton Byrd, Edward Byrd and Everette Byrd, all of Colonial Beach; a sister, Beatrice Berry of Fort Washington, Md.; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Little Zion Baptist Church. Burial was in Robb's Hill in Colonial Beach. The Rev. W.B. Scott officiated.

George Washington Bowman 80
George Washington Bowman, 80, of Montross left his residence Tuesday, July 30, 2002, to go to a better place, his mansion in the sky. He will be missed, but his and our faith in the Lord will see us through.
Born in Marion, N.C. on Sept. 22, 1921, he was a security guard at Stratford Hall Plantation and a member of Currioman Baptist Church at Zacata.
He was the son of the late George Marshall Bowman and Pantha Freedman Bowman.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Woodring Bowman; six daughters, Mary DeAtley of Colonial Beach, Estelle Meyers of Wichita, Kan., Ann Church of Colonial Beach, Brenda Schools of Warsaw, Pauline Callis of Colonial Beach, and Linda Patterson of Orange; three brothers, Boyd Bowman of North Carolina, Cecil Bowman of Montross and Junior Bowman of North Carolina; six sisters, Jeanette Pipes of Buffalo Cove, N.C., Roxie Hamlet of Montross, Cedren Robbins of Georgia, Florence Balderson of Montross, Reba Alverson of Montross, Betty Sue Kerby of Patterson, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Bowman. "Keep looking up."
A funeral was held Friday, Aug. 2, at Currioman Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Rev. Curtis Hawks and the Rev. Gurney Robbins officiated.

Catherine Ware 54
Catherine Ware, 54, of Supply in Essex County died of a heart attack Sunday, July 21, 2002, at her residence. She was the mother of Earl Thomas Ware Jr. of King George County.
Born in Essex County, Mrs. Ware worked as a housekeeper at Fort A.P. Hill. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply. She was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Richardson.
In addition to her son of King George, Mrs. Ware is survived by her husband, Earl Thomas Ware Sr.; three daughters, Tracy Ware, Christine Ware and DaShanda Rich, all of Supply; a sister, Annette Richardson of Tappahannock; a brother, Purnell Richardson of King William; and four grandchildren.
A funeral was held Thursday, July 25, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Charles W. "Mookie" Smith, 50, of King George County died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Mary Washington Hospital of an apparent stroke.
Mr.
Smith was a former employee of White Packing Co. for 20 years and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Royal.
Survivors include two sons, Michael and Antonio Johnson, both of King George; two sisters, Joyce Roy and Pinky Jackson, both of King George; five brothers, Wilbur, Clarence Jr., George and Donald Smith, all of King George, and Michael of Upper Marlboro, Md.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gregory Nick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body may be viewed from noon to 8 p.m. today at Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, Port Royal, and one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday.

Charles Thomas Sherman 65
Charles Thomas "Tom" Sherman, 65, of King George died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at his home.
Born in Washington, D.C., Mr. Sherman had retired as a operations manager with AT&T in New York, N.Y., and was employed by R.J. Moore Associates Home Inspections in the Washington area. He had served in the U.S. Air Force. He was formerly of Northern Virginia and Westfield, N.J.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene H. Sherman; three sons, Michael Sherman of Charlottesville, Steven Sherman of White House Station, N.J. and Matthew Sherman of Bernardsville, N.J.; a sister, Janet Trebac of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Monday, July 29, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Shiloh. The Rev. William Bragdon officiated.

Donna Davis Gouldman Morehouse 73
Donna Davis Gouldman Morehouse, 73, of Biloxi, Miss., formerly of Colonial Beach and Montross, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002.
She is survived by a son, Kevin Gouldman of Leedstown; two daughters, Cathy Perry of Leedstown and Dani Dodd of Oak Grove; a sister, Marion Knight; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A son, Kirk Gouldman, preceded her in death.
She was a longtime member of Leedstown Resolutions Chapter DAR, serving as regent and in various other capacities. She was also a faithful member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Oak Grove.

Ronald Lee Miles 64
Ronald Lee Miles, 64, of Fredericksburg died Monday, July 29, 2002, at his home. He was the father of Ronald Miles Jr. of Colonial Beach and Robert Miles of King George County.
Mr. Miles had retired from Bowl America as a mechanic after many years and was a member of the Colonial Beach Moose 1267.
In addition to his sons of Colonial Beach and King George, Mr. Miles is survived by his wife, Shirley; two other sons, Charles Miles of Fredericksburg and Joey Miles of Woodbridge; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A memorial service was held today at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel.
