Anthony Kaiser Hudson, 93, of Silver Spring, Md., a native of King George County, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at a nursing home in Silver Spring. Mr. Hudson was the widower of Marie Hudson. Survivors include a stepson, Jim Skinner of Wheaton, Md.; a sister, Marie Rollins of Arlington; a brother, Emerson "Reds" Hudson of Fredericksburg; four stepgrandchildren; numerous stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Saturday at Collins Funeral Home, Silver Spring.
Chylo H. Briggs 55 years
Chylo H. Briggs, 55, of King George County died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, of pancreatic cancer at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond. She was born in Camden, N.J. Survivors include her husband, Douglas Briggs; three daughters, Tracy Hottle, Ami Cherry and Dawn Brule; four sons, Daniel Argilan, John Argilan, David Lee and Bryan Briggs; her mother, Hazel Donaldson; her stepfather, Jim Donaldson; three sisters, Elizabeth Bracy, Edie Mc
Carter and Betty Gallagher; four brothers, Daniel Carson, J.R. Harriman, John Paul Harriman and Robert Harriman; and 24 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, at Peace Lutheran Church in King George. Robert A. Biggs 84 years
Robert Andrew Biggs, 84, of Montross died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Rappahannock General Hospital. Born in Washington, Mr. Biggs had retired as a generator mechanic with Potomac Electric Power Co. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 2666 in Oak Grove and Andrew Chapel United Methodist Men's Group. He was also a hospice volunteer and a World War II Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Velma Beahm Biggs; a daughter, Bonnie B. Chandler of Montross; two sons, Robert A. Biggs of Charlestown, W.Va. and John K. Biggs of Covington, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Barbara B. Skiffington of Fairfax; three stepsons, Robert L. Beckwith of Manassas, Richard A. Beckwith of Virginia Beach and Stephen L. Beckwith of Chesapeake; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral was held last Tuesday at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Marjorie Elizabeth Barden, 78, of Colonial Beach died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Mary Washington Health Center, Colonial Beach. She was a member of the American Legion and Women of the Moose Lodge, both in Colonial Beach. Survivors include five daughters, Elizabeth Eisenmann of Douglasville, Ga., Brenda Y. Coffey, Shirley S. McKenney and Melinda D. Pierce, all of Colonial Beach, and Patricia Berryman of Durham, N.C.; three sons, Marshall R. Barden and Arthur E. Barden, both of Colonial Beach, and Henry T. Alvin Vincent Yeatman, 75, of Montross died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital. Born in Westmoreland County, Mr. Yeatman was a self-employed painter. He was a member of Nomini Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Clara Y. Tolson and Neal Y. Wilkins, both of Montross; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held last Sunday at Welch Funeral Home, Montross. Burial was in Nomini Baptist Church cemetery.
Johnny Rollins 64 years
John Weston "Johnny" Rollins, 64, of King George County died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Rollins retired as an electronics technician at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, where he worked for 32 years. He also served in the Coast Guard and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church in King George. Mr. Rollins is survived by his wife, Josephine W. Rollins; two daughters, Cynthia R. Callis of Yorktown and Sheila L. Roberson of Fredericksburg; a son, John D. Rollins of King George; a brother, Winfred B. "Winks" Rollins of King George; and three grandchildren. Emerson R. "Brother" Purks Jr., 88, of Colonial Beach died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital. Mr. Purks was born in King George County and grew up there. He had retired as a test mechanic at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division. He also was the owner and operator of Purks Lawnmower Service in Colonial Beach. Mr. Purks, an Army Air Corps combat veteran of World War II, was a member of Colonial Beach Moose Lodge and Colonial Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Mamie Wilkerson Purks; two daughters, Terry Lynn Purks of Stafford County and Deborah Ann Thompson of Warsaw; a sister, Agnes Glasco of King George; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also the husband of the late Floy S. Purks. A graveside service was held Thursday in Potomac Baptist Church cemetery in King George. Paul Carroll Pulzone, 73, of Callao in Northumberland County died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital. Mr. Pulzone had retired as superintendent of engineering from the U.S. Postal Service. His memberships included the American Legion, Callao Moose Lodge 917, Moose Legion 148, Train Collectors Association and the Owls Club in Waynesboro, Pa. Survivors include his wife, Frances G. Pulzone; two daughters, Marie Carol Pulzone and Angela Jean Pulzone, both of Callao; two sons, Paul Carroll Pulzone Jr. of Callao and Douglas Philip Pulzone of Stafford County; two sisters, Geraldine McCreary and Cecilia Heitmanek, both of Fredericksburg; and two granddaughters.
