Lewis Kenneth Thompson 76 years
Lewis Kenneth Thompson, 76, of Montross, died Saturday, June 24, 2000 at his home. Born in Westmoreland, Mr. Thompson had retired as a forklift operator at Montross Lumber Company. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church and Westmoreland Mason Lodge 212.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby B. Thompson; a daughter, Edna Mae Thompson of Montross; a son, Lewis M. Thompson, of Alamogordo, N.M.; three sisters, Bernice Rutherford and Annie Wilson, both of Philadelphia, Va., and Irene H. Thompson of Glassboro, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral was held July 1 at Siloam Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clarence Long officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery. Weldon-Fisher Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
James B. Gorman 86
James B. Gorman, 86, of Colonial Beach died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at his residence.
Formerly of Alexandria, Mr. Gorman had retired as general manager of Freeman Distributing Co. there.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the Elks Lodge, the American Legion and St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Colonial Beach. He was the widower of Marie C. Gorman,
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Rose Marie Bell of Ellicott City, Md.; a stepson, Dalton
Carter of Chattanooga, Tenn., a sister, Margaret Lomp of Arlington; and a number of stepgrandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Nov. 22, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. The Rev. Vincent P. Bork officiated and burial of ashes will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Lola Winfield Nalls, 69, of Colonial Beach died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Washington, Mrs. Nalls is survived by her husband, William S. Nalls; a daughter, Virginia L. Ferguson of Fredericksburg; three sons, William S. Nalls Jr. of Alexandria, Ralph W. Nalls of Newport, N.C., and Russell C. Nalls of Woodbridge; a brother, Frank W. Winfield of Rockville, Md.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A fumeral was held Monday, Nov. 20, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. The Rev. Willard Bowen officiated and burial followed in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alaxandria.

Betty B. Hendrix 94
Betty Barbara "Bets" Hendrix, 94, of Colonial Beach died at her home Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000.
Born at Bowler Farm in Spotsylvania County, Mrs. Hendrix was a member of Colonial Beach United Methodist Church, the Colonial Beach Lioness Club and the Colonial Beach Historical Society. She was the widow of C. Walter Hendrix.
Survivors include three sons, C. Walter Hendrix Jr. of Brookville, Md., Robert W. Hendrix of Silver Spring, Md., and William E. Hendrix of Colonial Beach; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Colonial Beach United Methodist Church at a later date.

Sally Virginia Smith, 56, of Colonial Beach died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Maryland.
Mrs.
Smith was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 4315, and Fredericksburg Bowling League.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Beane of Randleman, N.C., and Jenny Stoll of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Cecil Halsey of Charlotte, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Randleman, N.C.

Ethel Rivers, 61, of Colonial Beach died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Cressopa, W.Va., Mrs. Rivers was employed at the Riverboat Restaurant in Colonial Beach and was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church there.
Survivors include her husband, Larry K. Rivers; three sons, Mitch Rivers of Mechanicsville, L. Craig Rivers of Knowville, Tenn., and Ken Rivers of Richmond; a sister, Helen Able of Centerville, N.Y.; a brother, James Blake Jr. of Waynesboro, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral was held Friday, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George. The Rev. Francis J. Peffley officiated and burial was at Historyland Memorial Park, King George.

June Homrighausen, 84, of Colonial Beach, formerly of Alexandria, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Bute, Mont., she had retired as an elementary school secretary with Fairfax County schools and was a member of the Westmoreland County Home Demonstration Club. She was the widow of Donald A. Homrighausen.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Reddick of Ocala, Fla., and Christine J. Lewis of Sterling; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Tuesday at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach.

Lila Mae Parnell, 89, of Hague in Westmoreland County died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Heritage Hall Health Care in King George County.
Mrs. Parnell, born in lee County, S.C., had been a resident of Heritage Hall since 1994. She had retired as a seamstress from Sears Roebuck and Co.
Survivors include two sisters, Helen P. Creasy of Hague and Mary Frances Cline of Bethany Beach, Del.; a brother, William H. Parnell of Gardnerville, Nev.

Gloria Wood Henderson, 64, of Montross died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Henderson was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, where she was a youth Sunday School teacher and served as clerk of the church for 20 years. She was a member of the Professiona; Rooler Skating Association and was an American Red Cross Volunteer.
Survivors include her husband, James S. Henderson; a daughter, Kim H. Evans of Mechanicsille; a son, Donald G. Henderson of Newland; a sister, Cheryle Rambo of Colonial Bluffs, Iowa; a brother, Bill Koehrsen of Colonial Bluffs, Iowa; and two grandchildren.
A funeral was Saturday, Nov. 4, at Beulah Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Carl Hoban 86
A funeral for Carl Hoban, 86, of Colonial Beach was held Saturday, Nov. 11, at Little Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove. The Rev. William B. Scott officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hoban died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Warsaw Health Care Center.
Born in Westmoreland County, he had retired from the World Bank in Washington. He was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, the Rev. Robert Honan and Sherman Hoban, both of Colonial Beach.

Moses Peyton, 76, of Oak Grove in Westmoreland County died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Tappahannock Manor Adult Home.
Born in Westmoreland County, Mr. Peyton had retired from the federal goverment. He was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove, where he was an usher and choir member.
He is survived by his wife, Olivett R. Peyton.
A funeral was held Monday, at Little Zion Baptist Church. The Pastor William B. Scott officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
