Eugene Infante
Eugene Infante, 70, died Oct. 17 at his Chantilly home.
He was born July 15, 1934, in Columbia, South America, to the late Herminio and Trinidad Cardoza Infante.
He was the husband of the late Elena Infante. Survivors include two sons, Juan Carlos and his wife Natalia Infante of Ashburn, and Pedro Nel Infante of Chantilly; three daughters, Maria Eugenia Infante of Chantilly, Luz Elena Infante of Chantilly, and Cristina and her husband Jamie Infante of Ashburn; brothers Amelia Rodriguez of Spain, Eduardo Infante of South Riding, and Alfonzo Infante of Sterling; and four grandchildren.
A prayer service was held Oct. 19 at the Adams-
Green Funeral Home in Herndon with Father Lino Rico officiating. Interment will be private.
Gertraud Ida Henderson
Gertraud Ida Henderson, 71, a resident of Sterling Park since 1963, died Nov. 5 after a brief period of declining health due to emphysema.
She was born July 1, 1933 in Hamburg, Germany, and is recalled in Sterling as the receptionist for Sunscene II Tanning Salon.
She loved knitting, gardening, the outdoors, and her family.

Joseph P. (Joe) Zigadlo
Joseph P. (Joe) Zigadlo, 70, of Reston, died at Fairfax Hospital Center Nov. 20.
He was born April 25, 1934 in Auburn, New York, to the late Peter and Mary Knapp Zigadlo.
He was the husband of Jannette V. Zigadlo. He is survived by daughter Pamela and her husband Andrew Hamingson of Brooklyn, New York; son Mark and his wife Christine Zigadlo of Ashburn; sister Virginia Fleszar of Cortland, New York; and grandchildren Madeleine, Linnea and Colin Hamingson, Kevin, Victoria, Allison and Katherine Zigadlo.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 23 at St. Thomas a' Becket Catholic Church in Reston. Interment at Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

Julia Angelini Caracciolo
Julia Angelini Caracciolo, 84, died at Arleigh Burke Pavilion in McLean Dec. 18.
She was born in Quincy Mass., the eldest of two daughters of Marguerite Wyler and John Angelini. She graduated from Hickock Secretarial School in Boston. Prior to marriage she worked at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy. She later worked for the American Cemetery Association in Roslyn, from which she retired 21 years ago.
She married Felix Caracciolo July 1, 1945. As a Navy family the Caracciolo's lived in Newport R.I., San Juan, Puerto Rico, Norfolk, Madrid, Newport News, McLean and Boston. After retirement she lived in Ipswich, Mass., and Largo, Fla. before returning to Virginia.
Survivors include her sister, Georgette Granara of Ipswich; two sons, Peter and his wife Sharon of Great Falls, and Christopher and his wife Lori of Dumfries; four daughters, Nancy and husband James Warner of Ipswich, Linda and husband Richard Ash of Herndon, Mimi and husband John Raiello of Ashburn, and Bonnie Caracciolo of Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren Julia, Anna, Nicholas, Daniel, Timothy, Melissa, Danielle, Christopher, Gabriel, Julian, Andrea and Allison; great-grandson Gary Kyp and his parents Jim and Wendy Kyp of Great Falls; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held Dec. 20 at The Christian Fellowship Church in Ashburn. Vilma A. Kaufmann
Vilma A. Kaufmann, 88, of Sterling, died at Loudoun Long Term Care in Leesburg Dec. 29.
She was born March 31, 1916 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, to the late Charles and Anna Szamedli Monek. She was the wife of the late William C. Kaufmann.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Ann Morgan of Sterling, Patricia Caruso of East Northport, New York, and Barbara Principe of Sterling; and eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
The family received friends and a rosary was said Jan. 3 at Adams-
Green Funeral Home in Herndon. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 4 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Sterling. Interment was private.

Howard J. Schoenfeldt
The Rev. Howard J. Schoenfeldt, 92, of Sterling, died Dec. 28 at Sunrise of Reston retirement community.
He was born Dec. 15, 1912 in Elyria, Ohio to the late John and Matilda Ewald Schoenfeldt. He graduated from Concordia College, in Fort Wayne, Ind., and received his Masters of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.
He served Lutheran parishes in Syracuse, New York, Bristol, Conn., Providence, Rhode Island, Ridgewood, New York, Livingston, New Jersey, and was Pastor of Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, N.C. In retirement he served parishes in southern Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. He received the Christ the Servant award from the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in 2000. He was founder of The Lutheran Friends of the Deaf in 1947 and the Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf, remaining on its various boards since its inception, serving as Director Emeritus until his death.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothea Sonstoem Schoenfeldt; two daughters, Sandra Betsch and her husband David of Canton, Conn., and Dorie Miller and her husband Tom of Reston; a son, John Schoenfeldt and his wife Wendy of Wildwood, Mo.; and six grandchlidren.
A memorial service was held Dec. 30 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Reston, the Rev. Money Frohm officiating. A committal service will be held later at the Memorial Gardens of Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Michaela Lynn Wegner
Michaela Lynn Wegner, 15, of South Riding died Monday, Jan. 5.
She was born Oct. 10, 1989 in Norfolk, Va.
Survivors include her parents, Brian Wegner of Alexandria, and Lorijane and Richard Graham of South Riding; a brother, Jeffrey Wegner of Alexandria, and two sisters, Nicole McNamara of South Riding and Morgan Ashley Graham of Jacksonville, Fla.; and her grandparents, Joyce Wegner of Mishicot, Wi. and Betty Moore of Jeffersonville, Ind.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6 at Adams-
Green Funeral Home in Herndon. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at the Herndon United Methodist Church, with interment at Stonewall Memory Gardens. Dr. John M. Archer
John Matthew Archer, M.D., 53, of Potomac Falls, died suddenly Jan. 7 of a myocardial infarction while vacationing in Orlando, Fl.
He was born July 26, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, and grew up in Bethesda, Md. He graduated from Gonzaga High School in Washington, DC, and attended Boston College. He served in the United States Navy before completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, earning Phi Beta Kappa honors. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in urology, and continued as an Associate Professor of Surgery throughout his career.
Dr. Archer practiced urology in Washington, Leesburg and Reston, served two terms as Chief of the Medical staff at Loudoun Hospital Center and was named “Best Medical Specialist” in Loudoun County. He was active in organizations including the Georgetown Clinical Society, the Osler Society and Loudoun County Medical Society. He was an avid golfer at Lowes Island Club.
Survivors include his wife. Dr. Heidi Archer; two sons, 14-month-old Brendan Baxter and Matthew Joseph of Bethesda; two daughters, Kathleen Cecelia of Charlottesville and Christine Marie of Potomac Falls; two brothers, William of Flagstaff, Arizona and Thomas of Gaithersburg, Maryland; and one sister, Mary McIlwee of Woodstock, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to his favorite charity, Gonzaga High School's scholarship fund for fatherless boys.
Joshua Emet S. Cuasay
Prayer services for Joshua Emet S. Cuasay, son of Jay Cuasay, Christ the Redeemer Eucharistic Minister, and Eileen Sarett-Cuasay, a clinical psychologist, were held Jan. 17 at Adams-
Green Funeral Home in Herndon.
He was stillborn Jan. 11 at Loudoun Hospital Center.
Interment was at Sterling Cemetery.
Joseph E. Schaefer III
Joseph Eugene Schaefer III, 56, of Sterling, a pilot with Life Net, died Jan. 10 in a helicopter accident.
Schaefer was born in Alexandria Jan. 14, 1948, to Birdie and Joseph Schaefer. As a young child his family moved to Jacksonville Beach, Fl., where he graduated from Bishop Kenny Catholic High School. He attended the University of South Florida where he studied Chemistry.
From 1967 to 1972 he served in the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer. He completed two tours of duty in Vietnam as a pilot, completing numerous combat and air rescue missions. He received decorations for valor in combat, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star and multiple Purple Hearts.
He worked 30 years with AT&T in network operations, computer programming and as an instructor. He retired from AT&T in 1997 and worked as a computer consultant and pilot until his death.
He served Loudoun County as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad, participating in helicopter rescue and recovery operations. He had more than 4,000 flight hours in helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Cele (Mary Cecilia); three sons, Michael Joseph, James Patrick, and Andrew Kevin Schaefer, all of Sterling; a sister Denise Button, of Canon City, Colorado; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary, and his brother, Kevin.
A private interment with full military honors will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad, 46700 Middlefield Dr., Sterling, Va., 20165.
