Brown Lane "Gerry" died July 8, 2001 at her home in Richmond, Va. Mrs. Lane was the widow of O.C. Lane. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ada Brown, and her devoted companion, Bill Tolley. She was born May 25, 1925 in Johnston County, N.C. Mrs. Lane was a resident of Richmond, Va. and Rocky Mt., N.C. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Johnny Schwartz of Richmond, Va., and Mitchie and Frank Bozelle of Nashville, N.C.; two granddaughters, Amanda Doggett of Richmond, Va. and Nicole Boone of Spring Hope, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Desa'Rae Doggett, and Joshua and Codi Boone. She was loved and will be missed by her family and many friends. There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life Saturday, July 14, 2001 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, N.C. The family will begin receiving friends at 1 p.m.

Charlotte L. (Peay) Moore, age 54, of Richmond, died Monday, July 2, 2001. In spite of prolonged health problems, she was a devoted and a hard working secretary covering three different offices with the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services for twenty years as well as a long time employee of the Richmond Times-Dispatch. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma B. Denton and her husband, George Moore Jr. She is survived by her brother, Phillip Terry Peay of Oakland, Calif.; three aunts, Ellen Bawsell, Annie Albright, Eva Davidson; mother-in-law, Ethel Moore; her two devoted shelties, Sable and Topaz; and many loving friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richmond SPCA and Diabetes Association. Dorothy Dunn Moore, 73, of Richmond, died July 11, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Temple Moore Sr.; sons, Joseph Temple Moore Jr. and Douglas Lee Moore and wife, Delinda Lea Moore; daughter, Susan Moore Wilson and huband, Donald Malton Wilson; daughter, Deborah Lynn Moore; four grandchildren, Austin Douglas Moore, Joseph Grayson Moore, David Wesley Moore and Daniel Christian Moore; and her sisters, Helen Dunn Puryear and Laura Dunn Williams; and a special friend, Ella Crockett; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a member of Bethany Place Baptist Church for many years. Helen A. Nantz, age 86, of Charles City, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2001 while in residence at Elizabeth Adam Crump Manor. She was preceded in death by her husband, I. Rufus Nantz and is survived by her children, Joy N. Starkey, Jeannie N. Clayton, I.R. (Rudy) Nantz Jr., and Bonnie N. McAllister; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and her sister Anne A. Orren of Cornelius, N.C. Mrs. Nantz was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Merilyn Van Epps Nichols, 67, joined her Lord in heaven on Tuesday, July 10, 2001. Remaining on Earth to celebrate her life are her husband and best friend of 47 years, Max Leroy Nichols Sr.; her sons, Max Leroy Nichols Jr. and his wife Wanda, Donald Otis Nichols and Jeffery Allan Nichols and his wife, Betty; her daughter, Judy Lynn Kanode. She was preceded in death by four other children. She was blessed with six grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Two sisters remain, Bonnie Morrell of South Bend, Ind. and Margaret Norton of Three Rivers, Mich. Merilyn retired in 1998 from Chesterfield County after 20 plus years of service. Louise Clyborne Oliver, widow of Franklin S. Oliver, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001. She was a resident of Lakewood Manor Baptist Retirement Community, First Baptist Church, and its Palmore Class. She is survived by her nephews, Gerald S. Maloney of Jacksonville, Fla. and William H. Clyborne of Mechanicsville; her nieces, Ruth C. Arvin and Mary C. DuVal, both of Mechanicsville; ten great nieces and nephews; and seven great-great nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2001 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Edgar A. (Bo) Paschall, 61, of Kents Store died July 10, 2001 at his home. Born May 7, 1940 in Drewey, N.C., he was the son of the late Charlie P. and Cassie F. Paschall. He was a retired machinist from WESTVACO and a member of Byrd Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include his beloved wife, Ruth Atkinson Paschall at home; a daughter, Juanita P. Clary and husband, R.W. (Ron) of Mechanicsville; three brothers, Charlie M. Paschall of Norlina, N.C., Walter Ray and Earl Wayne Paschall, both of Richmond; four sisters, Mamie Wilkins of Stem, N.C., Julia Capps and Pannie Kirchmier, both of Clarksville and Faye Anderson of Wilmington, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Tricia and Marie Clary of Mechanicsville. She leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Reed and Gail Schweickert of Midlothian; her son, Robert "Bob" Schweickert of Grays Lake, Illinois; and a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Tom Black of Oxford, Mississippi. She has three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Chic Granger of Jensen Beach, Florida.
