Elmer E. Hawk, 91, of Maidens, Va., widower of Lucille Donovan Hawk, joined his wife in heaven February 28, 2002. He was a retired electrician of duPont and a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church. He is survived by three sisters, Edith Whiteside of Richmond, Mary Pinney of Goochland and Jean Harris and husband, Bobby of Maidens, Va.; three brothers, Edward (Ed) Hawk of Maidens, Robert Gay Hawk of Arizona and Earl Hawk of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2002. Lucy Earl (Big Mama) Kennon Hiter, 92, of Louisa, died March 1, 2002. She was the widow of Harry M. Hiter Sr. She was the oldest member of the Church of the Incarnation in Mineral. Survivors include her sons, William Franklin Hiter of Mineral, Va., Harry M. Hiter Jr. of Louisa, James E. Hiter of Gordonsville, and Gerald Y. Hiter of Louisa; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce H. Sacra. Services will be held 2 p.m. today at the Church of the Incarnation, with interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa. Donations may be made to the Church of the Incarnation, Mineral, Va.

Robert H. Holloway, 77, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annie C. Holloway; his daughter, Linda Gifford and her husband, James; two grandsons, Eddie Gifford and his wife, Colleen and Joey Gifford and his wife, Holly; one brother, Charles L. Holloway; and a host of devoted family and friends. He enjoyed his work as a plumber with J.W. Bastin and was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church of Goochland. Dennis Scot Mold, 50, of Midlothian, Va., died suddenly Thursday, February 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Robin Baldwin Mold; two stepsons, Anthony and Justin; and many other relatives and friends. He was a U.S. Army veteran and an employee of CCW Group-Castlewood Services, Inc. He was very active in the youth sports leagues in Chesterfield County for the past ten years. During those years, he was a coach and commissioner in the Chesterfield Baseball League and the Richmond Senior Babe Ruth League. He has served as a coach and commissioner of the Chesterfield Basketball League and presently the commissioner of the Senior Division. His dedication and experience in working with the Chesterfield youth will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd.

Irene Bowen Moseley, age 90, of Lawrenceville, Va., died March 2, 2002. Opal Veith Mueller, 95, of Richmond, died Thursday, February 14, 2002. Survivors include her husband, Claire; her son, John and his wife, Peg; and her sister, Nela Miller; as well as other devoted relatives and friends. A memorial service to celebrate her life and give thanks to God will be held Thursday, March 7, at 11 a.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church. Dr. Fletcher Bailey Owen Jr., 72, died February 28, 2002. Dr. Owen was born on November 6, 1929 in Richmond, Va., the son of Annie Laura Ennis and Fletcher Bailey Owen. He graduated from John Marshall High School. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Richmond in June 1951, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Medical College of Virginia in June 1956. He received his M.D. from the Medical College of Virginia in 1959. The following year, 1959 to 1960, he served one year of rotating internship at Richmond Memorial Hospital. Dr. Owen was a member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of Virginia, the Richmond Academy of Medicine, the Virginia Academy of Science, the New York Academy of Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Owen was the Director of Medical Services for the A.H. Robins Company from July 1, 1960 until his retirement in February of 1990. He was named Assistant Vice President in 1998. In addition to his responsibilities at the A.H. Robins Company, he held the title of Lecturer in Pharmacology with the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Owen was respected and loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his sister, Mildred Owen Lane; his niece, Bonnie Belvin Brown; nephew, Orion Belvin III; three grandnieces and nephews and two great-grandnieces and nephews. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday. PARRISH
Agnes Hughes Parrish, 100, of Kents Store, died February 28, 2002 at the King Adult Home in Louisa. Born August 28, 1901 in Wilmington, Va., daughter of the late John S. and Mary Ella Perkins Hughes. She was the widow of Louis Edward Parrish and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Parrish. Mrs. Parrish taught school in Fluvanna County from 1919 to 1922 when she married. She and Mr. Parrish raised their four children and in 1946 she began teaching again. Most of her teaching was fourth and fifth grades at Columbia District School in Fluvanna County from which she retired in 1967. Mrs. Parrish was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Louis E. Parrish Jr. of Kents Store, John Franklin Parrish of Strasburg and Robert Overton Parrish of Kents Store; one sister, Mary Ella Hughes Perkins of Greensboro, N.C.; two grandsons, Gregory E. Parrish of Apopka, Fla. and Barry N. Parrish of Amarillo, Texas; two granddaughters, Marjorie L. Rummel of Warrenton and Anne-Marie Parrish of Kents Store; six great-grandchildren, Jeremy Parrish and Danny Parrish, both of Apopka, Fla., Joe Rummel and James Rummel, both of Warrenton, Meadow Parrish and Bayley Leyshon, both of Kents Store. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 at the Beulah Baptist Church, Kents Store, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Greene. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Margaret "Mickey" Petric, 74, of Richmond, passed away March 1, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia; sons, John, Daniel, and Robert; a granddaughter, Caroline; sisters, Kathleen, Rosemary, Dorothy, Mary Ellen, Patricia Ann; and her brothers, Donovan, Richard, Sidney, John. She was the former president of the Women's Club at Carriage Hill. She will also be remembered for her many good works and acts of kindness. She raised her family in Ohio and returned to Richmond upon the birth of her granddaughter.
