Glenn F. French, 81, of Richmond, died Wednesday, September 18, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ruth E. French; daughter, Glenda L. French; two grandsons, Glenn Allen and Douglas W. Fowler; also six great-grandchildren. Mr. French was a retired member of Teamsters Local #592 where he served as business agent and treasurer. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday (today) at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Avenue. Interment Washington Memorial Park. HAMILTON
Angela Williamson Hamilton of Portsmouth, Va. died in Richmond, Va. on September 19, 2002 following a brief struggle with cancer. She was born March 5, 1922 in Lynchburg, Va. to Albert and Beulah Dudley Williamson. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and sisters, and her husband of 36 years, Henry Adams Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton is survived by a daughter, Patricia Hamilton Brodie and her husband, Owen W. Brodie M.D. of Richmond; two grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Brodie Venn and her husband, Michael S. Venn of Baltimore, Md. and Andrew Owen Brodie and his wife, Michelle S. Brodie of Mechanicsville, Va.; and two great-grandchildren, James Andrew Brodie and Chandler Joseph Brodie of Mechanicsville. In addition, she is survived by many devoted nieces, nephews and friends. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and a good and caring friend to many. The funeral service will be at Snellings Funeral Home, 5605 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, Va. at noon on Saturday, September 21, 2002. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Florence Byrd Harris, who celebrated her 100th birthday on January 5, 2002, departed this life on September 17, 2002 at Kennesaw Nursing Home in Baltimore, Md. Before going to Baltimore, she was a resident in the 1400 block of West Cary Street, Richmond, Va. for many years. Born in 1902 in Manchester, now South Richmond, Mrs. Harris at an early age was baptized by Dr. Anthony Binga at the First Baptist Church, South Richmond. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Florence Byrd; and all her siblings, including Charles E. Byrd and Ethel Byrd Edwards and her daughter, Evelyn Jackson Monroe. She is survived by two devoted granddaughters, Saretha Constella Monroe, Baltimore, Md. and Lynette Monroe, Las Vegas, Nev.; one great-granddaughter, Dwyan Monroe, Baltimore, Md.; six nieces, Ruth E. Ward and Edith E. James, Brooklyn, N.Y., Helen Edwards, Dorothy Rose Edwards, Geraldine B. Story and Dr. LaVerne Byrd Smith, Richmond, Va; three nephews, one devoted, C. Mary Jane Topian Harris, 77, of Hopewell, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 18, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arthur

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend; a long-time member of St. James Catholic Church; and traveled the world with her husband. Katherine Barlow Haynes, 77, went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Cephas S. Haynes. She is survived by her three children, Karen Hall and her husband, John, Cynthia DeBusk and her husband, Paxton and children, Kathy and Laura, and Charles Haynes and his wife, Zully and children, Kim, Brandon and Cameron. She is also survived by three sisters, one brother and several nieces and nephews. She retired from Westhampton United Methodist Church after 23 years of service. She faithfully served the Lord and the church her entire life. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Myriam Ammons Leadbetter, 72, a homemaker, of Gum Spring, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 18, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Knight Leadbetter; and her two sons, Leon Knight Leadbetter Jr. and Ronald Coleman Leadbetter. She is survived by her three daughters, Evelyn A. Warrens, Patricia L. Gibson and her husband, Robert and Mary L. Richardson and her husband, Scott; her daughter-in-law, Vicki P. Maynard F. Mowbray, age 78, of Winchester, Virginia, died Wednesday, September 18, 2002 in the Winchester Medical Center. Mr. Mowbray was born on December 10, 1923, in Elkton, Virginia, the son of the late John Howard and Nettie Irene Kisling Mowbray. He was a truck operator for 50 years, having retired from Western Distributing in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Mowbray married Irene G. Shifflett Mowbray on June 14, 1941 in Ellicott City, Maryland. Surviving with his wife are four children, John F. Mowbray of Winchester, Va., Ronald W. Mowbray Sr. of Winchester, Va., Joyce A. Moore of Providence Forge, Va. and Patricia I. Graham of Stephens City, Va.; a son-in-law, Milton Moore of Providence Forge, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Louann Mowbray of Winchester, Va.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at Elk Run Cemetery on Saturday, September 21, 2002, 11 a.m., with Pastor James Kites officiating. Burial will be in Elk Run Cemetery, Elkton, Virginia. Lizzie Ezelle Niermeyer, 104, of Petersburg, widow of Otis Charles Niermeyer, died Thursday, September 19, 2002 in Colonial Heights Convalescent Center. She was born in Southampton Co. and was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Rosa Scarborough Ezelle. She was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and a former member of High Street United Methodist Church. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Diana and Howard Love and Catherine and Hart Hudson, all of South Hill, Nancy and Earl H. Ezelle of Colonial Heights, Irving H. and Frances Pritchett and Nancy and Charles D. Story Jr., all of Prince George. Graveside services will be held today (Friday) at 11 a.m. in Blandford Cemetery, with the Rev. Betsy C. Basehore, pastor of Washington Street United Methodist Church, officiating.
