Victor W. Hobson, 82, retired brigadier general, U.S. Army, formerly of Midlothian, died on December 31, 2000 in Fishersville, Va. He was preceded in death by his wife, Migia; and daughter, Susanna Nichols. His daughter and son-in-law, Marlena Hobson and Paul Borzelleca; a grandson, Mike Nichols; a brother, Belcher; and dear friend, Mary Kelsey survive him. Valerie June Horn, 68, died Sunday, December 31, 2000, at her home in Lake Gaston, N.C. She was the mother of Gladys "Cricket" McCafferty of Sandston and Leonard W. Horn of Richmond. Teresa Weinstein King, 91, of Richmond, passed away in her sleep January 1, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis King; and her parents, Abraham and Millie Roth Weinstein. She is survived by her only child, Ruth Ann King; one sister, Regina Goodman of California; three brothers, Marcus and Phillip Weinstein, and Joe West, all of Richmond; and a host of relatives and friends; devoted friends, Judy Mallory, Dianne Preston and Shirley Jones. Teresa King was a favorite student in the Department of Painting and Printmaking at VCU and accepted a special award at the Department Annual Larrick Center Student Exhibition of VCU. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hebrew Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Teresa W. King.

Harold J. Lawlor, 82, of Richmond, died Monday, January 1, 2001, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Anne Seward Lawlor; and his children, Eileen M. Lawlor of Monterey, Mass., Susie K. Lawlor of St. Petersburg, Fla., and H. Seward Lawlor and his wife, Rebecca N. Lawlor of Hampton, Va.; a granddaughter, Claire Lawlor of Hampton; two sisters, Bridget Krochmal of East Hanover, N.J. and Patricia Napolipano of New York, N.Y. Mr. Lawlor was a retired realtor and former owner of Harold J. Lawlor & Company and retired as Lt. Col. after 29 years of service in the U.S. Army Reserves. Mr. Lawson was a Past Master of Powhatan Masonic Lodge 294 A.F.&A.M. and was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 146. Mr. George Morris McCants, 86, of Petersburg, Va., passed away Friday, December 29, 2000, at Hampton, Va. He was a native and lifelong resident of Petersburg and was the son of the late George A. and Blanche

Lee Herndon Pemberton, born January 3, 1906, died December 30, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Fensom Pemberton. He is survived by a son, Donald Lee Pemberton and his wife, Joe Anne; grandchildren, James Richard Pemberton and his wife, Susan, Susan Lee Tennant and her husband, Leonard and Amy DeShazo Pemberton; great-grandchildren, Emily and Paul Pemberton and Rebecca Tennant. Mr. Pemberton started his career as an electrician, served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Department of Defense. He was a seventy year member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry for many years as both junior and senior warden, also serving as Sunday School Superintendent and a trustee of the church. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Laurel St. and Idlewood Ave. Interment in Riverview Cemetery. Jean Marie Pratali, artist in the local Richmond area, left this life Saturday, December 30, 2000, to join in the eternal mystery. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy H. Pratali of Richmond; her son, Neal H. Clay III of Las Vegas, Nev.; her sister, Patricia Pratali of Salem, Va.; and her brother, Wayne Pratali of Costa Mesa, Calif.
