HOLLAND
Janelle Holland, 57, of Portsmouth, Va. died August 22, 2001 in a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Denton and Vernelle Denton Carter. She is survived by her loving partner of almost 21 years, Carol L. Nelson; her daughter, Cristine Holland-Zapata; and her grandson, James Zapata; as well as many friends who were like family. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 15 at the Unitarian Church of Norfolk with Rev. Danny Reed officiating.
HOLLEY
Tina Margaret Holley, 56, of Midlothian, died Wednesday, August 22, 2001 following a brief illness. Mrs. Holley is survived by her husband, Charles Holley; two daughters, Lynda Holley and Nicole Holley-Shero; two sons, Michael and Marc Holley; brothers, Richard and Michael Savasta; several aunts, uncles, and a niece and nephew. Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Holley was an English teacher at Midlothian High School. A memorial service will be conducted 6 p.m. Sunday at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Bon Air Library.

INGE
Floyd E. Inge Jr., 73, of Ruther Glen, Va., departed this life on August 23, 2001 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Diane Inge; and children, George Troy Bradford, Raymond Todd Bradford, Pamela Bryant; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Sutherland, and two grandchildren. Mr. Inge was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and worked for the State Penitentiary. A memorial service will be conducted at Bethel United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 26. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions be made to Bethel United Methodist Church.
LEVEY
Anne Snellen Levey, 68, died Friday, August 24, 2001, at Johnston-Willis Hospital. She was a victim of Lou Gehrig's disease. A Richmonder, she attended the old Westhampton schools and then Thomas Jefferson High School, where she was president of the Student Government Association, the first female to do so. She was president of the State Association of Student Governments, also the first female to serve in that capacity. She graduated from Mary Washington College with honors in English in 1954. She was president of the Student Government there and president of the Honor Council as well. Miss Levey taught English in the Hanover and Chesterfield high schools until the late 1950's when she became a computer programmer for IBM in Washington, D.C. and an instructor of other IBM employees in the corporate training center there. She also programmed the Georgetown University Law Library, one of the first such collection to be computerized. Returning to Richmond in 1967, she wrote several major computer operations, including the State Bureau of Vital Statistics. She taught computer science at John Tyler Community College for 10 years. In 1980 she returned to her love of books and established the Book Store on Forest Hills Avenue. It became a mecca for book lovers throughout central Virginia and she became widely known as the "Book Lady." In 1989 she retired and moved to Gwynn's Island in Matthews County where she shared a home with Mrs. Jack Godsey. She was the daughter of the late Harry Nelson Levey and Alma Snellen Levey. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Maude Levey Kerby of Midlothian, Va. and Mrs. Emma-Jo "Jody" Levey Davis of Williamsburg. A brother, Charles Allen Levey preceded her in death. Her nieces and nephew who also survive are Carol Anne Levey (Cecil) Thompson, Midlothian, Barbara-Jo Levey (Stephen) Sunday, Bon Air, Allen Hampton Levey, Midlothian, Martha Kerby (Richard) Graydon, Powhatan, Anne Davis (John) Kellum, Richmond and Kelsie Lee Davis of Williamsburg; and numerous great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Kerby residence in Midlothian on Sunday, August 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be a memorial service at the Gwynn's Island Baptist Church on Monday, August 27 at 2 p.m. Interment of her ashes at the family plot in Hollywood Cemetery will be private. LOCKHART
Patricia Fox Lockhart of Richmond died August 24, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Jess Lockhart; children, Brandon Fox, Carson Fox, Julie Ogle and Stephen Lockhart; grandchildren, Isabella Fox Arias, Miranda Fox Arias, Jessica Ogle and Jack Ogle; sister, Catherine Cragg; brother, John Battenfield; her former husband, James E. Fox. MAZZELLA
Linda Mazzella, 41, died Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at her home. She was a native of Roselle, N.J. She is survived by her spouse, Jim Cubilla; her daughter, Jessica Lin Cubilla; her son, Nicholas Mazzella; two sisters, Helene Cotoia and Elizabeth Rotkewicz; her father, Rudolf Kliesch; and her mother, Gerlinde E. Fellner. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 27, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. at Corinth United Methodist Church, 23 West Williamsburg Rd., Sandston. There is a memorial fund being created for her daughter.

Retired SFC Floyd C. Ponton, USA, age 75, of Petersburg, died Thursday, August 23, 2001. He was the widower of Aina C. Ponton and is survived by four sons, Henry Ponton of Urbana, Robert Ponton and his wife, Marian of Williamsburg, Ronald Ponton of Crewe and Donald Ponton and his wife, Erin of Hopewell; one daughter, Sandra Beason and her husband, David of Smithfield; eight grandchildren, Richard, Travis, Tyler, James, David, Markie, Kelsi and Lindsey; five sisters, Elizabeth, Joan, Virginia, Alice and Bernice; one brother, Robert; special friends and neighbors. Mr. Ponton was a retired U.S. Army veteran having served in WWII and Korea, was retired from VDOT, was a member of Powhatan-Starke Lodge No. 124 A.F.&A.M., a member of Petersburg Union No. 7 Grand Royal Arch Chapter, a life member of DAV Chapter 47 and a member of American Legion, J. Thompson Wyatt Post No. 2. A Masonic memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at the Petersburg chapel of J.T. Morriss & Sons Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2001 at Southlawn Memorial Park with full military honors.

James Monroue Sanders, 77, of 812 Brook Hill Rd., Apt. 112, died August 23, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Imogene "Gene" Sanders; children, Evelyn Dolbow of Glendale, Ariz. and Letcher Bradshaw of Richmond; sisters, Lillian Sevier of Annapolis, Md. and Dorothy Herr of Rosamond, Calif.; grandchildren, Brian and Sara Dolbow of Glendale, Ariz. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. Graveside services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Signal Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Sanders was retired from Allied Medical Supply.

Donald Ray Scott, 66, of Richmond, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 23, 2001. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was a POW. He also served in the US Army. He is survived by his daughter, Veona Ackerman and her husband, Jon; three grandchildren, Joshua, Adam and Shauna; his fiancee, Jackie Gibson, all of Richmond; two sons, Kevin and Jerry Scott; a daughter, Renomia Scott; sister, Betty Hunnycutt; granddaughter, Amber Scott, all of California. A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Road (Rt. 10). Interment Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif.

Claude Edward "Ed" Sonne, age 76, of Richmond, Va., died August 23, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Carr Sonne; his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Michael White of Richmond, his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Michael Terry of Charleston, S.C.; and his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Priscilla Sonne of Lynchburg, Va. He is also survived by his sister, Marcia Dean Becknell of Charlotte, N.C.; and loving nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his six grandchildren, David Wilkinson, Sarah White, Caleb Sonne, Suzanne, Mindy and Jonathan Terry. He was retired from Graybar Electric and belonged to the Lakeside Eagle Aerie 4211. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, at the Church of the Epiphany, 8000 Hermitage Rd., with Reverend Keith Emerson officiating.

Harold Montell Wheeler, age 84, of Chesterfield, died Friday, August 24, 2001. He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Tami and Jennifer. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Cole Wheeler; two sons, Stanley Alben Wheeler, Charles Montell Wheeler; a daughter, Janice Anne Jennings; a brother, James Marshall Wheeler; and a sister, Eleanor Stalcup; 12 grandchildern, eight great-grandchildren. George R. Allen, 75, of Richmond, died Wednesday, January 3, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Alma S. Allen; four children, Stuart W. Allen, Linda A. Hobson, Larry R. Allen and Gail A. Payne; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucy A. Edwards; and a brother, James L. Allen. Mr. Allen was retired from Greyhound Bus Co., was a member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church, an honorary member of the Sparta Hunt Club, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. James H. Arvin, 80, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Burruss Arvin. He is survived by his son, James H. Arvin Jr. and his wife, Renee; grandson, Ashby C. Arvin; two brothers, Aubrey H. Arvin and his wife, Mabel, and Charles R. Arvin and his wife, Dorothy. Mr. Arvin was a dedicated employee of Marcellus Wright Cox & Smith, Architects, for 42 years. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 4 at First Presbyterian Church. Michael Jude Barclay, 43, of Richmond, an applications analyst with the MCV School of Dentistry, was carried into the arms of Jesus January 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 16 and a half years, Sarah H. Barclay; three children, Jonathan, Joshua and Elizabeth Barclay; his parents, George and Cecelia Barclay; his aunt, Sissy and uncle, Bob Kelly. Mr. Barclay was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.
