Mildred K. Denton, 77, of Doswell, Va., passed away Monday, September 9, 2002 quietly in her sleep. She was the widow of Julius A. Denton Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Judith E. Watkins and Clara E. Chandler and her husband, Walter; and two sons, Shawn W. and his wife, Teresa and Thomas W. Denton and his wife, Diane; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Watkins and her fiance, C.L. George, Rebecca Noelle Turner, Nicholas Andrew Denton, Haley Elizabeth Denton, Tiffany Kerrick, Joseph Denton, Jennifer Denton, Jennifer
Smith and Lara Jones; one brother, Edward Prendergast; and one sister, Mary E. Holman, both of Arizona; four sisters-in-law, Bessie Satterfield, Clara Hitchens, Pearl Denton and Venda Denton; and one brother-in-law, Edward Denton. Mrs. Denton retired from the Richmond Times-Dispatch after 23 years of service.
FETZNER
Alice M. Fetzner, 85, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2002. She was the widow of George Fetzner. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Dunham; sons, Ken Fetzner, and Gil Fetzner; sister, Dorothy Jaeger; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Fetzner was a retired records clerk at St. Mary's Hospital and was a member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church. A graveside service will be held 12 noon Monday at Westhampton Memorial Park. Lewis D. Fowler, 83, of Richmond, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2002. Born November 14, 1918, the sixth of nine children to the late William H. and Pattie W. Fowler. He was the widower of Margaret Joyce Page Fowler. Surviving him are his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce F. and Carl E. Stargardt; sister, Charlotte F. Elliott; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fowler was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, a former fireman with the McGuire Veterans Hospital Fire Department, and a retired maintenance worker for the City of Richmond. His family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Branch's Baptist Church Cemetery. Jean Marie Grubbs, of Chester, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2002 on her 63rd birthday. She is survived by her husband, Ray E. Jimmy McLennan Sr., 70, of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, September 14, 2002. He was the widower of Joyce McLennan, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Anne McLennan; and granddaughter, Ashley McLennan. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy M. and Donald Waller and Debbie M. and Edward Williams; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Jr. and LaDonna McLennan; two brothers, Charles and Harford McLennan; and 11 grandchildren. Frances Luck Mills, 85, of Montpelier, widow of Jeff Mills, passed away in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Friday, September 13, 2002. She is survived by two sons, Lewis T. Mills of Topeka, Kan. and W.J. (Buddy) Mills of Beaverdam; a daughter, Jerelene M. Richards of Winston-Salem; one brother, W.T. (Junior) Luck of Bumpass; a sister, Goldie L. Mildred Millner Mills, age 86, of Roanoke, Virginia, died Thursday, September 12, 2002 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Gordon W. Mills. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter, Sandra M. Richardson and her husband, Boyer G. Richardson; two granddaughters, Karen Richardson Cooke and her husband, James E. Cooke Jr., all of Richmond, Va.; and Kimberly L. Richardson of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Josephine M. Montgomery of Roanoke. She is also survived by her three great-grandsons, Jameson Boyer, Grayson Joseph, and Marshall Edward Cooke. She was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church and a charter member of Hidden Valley Country Club. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2002, in Sherwood Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Boyden Joseph Nuckols, 94, of Rockville, died at home on September 14, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth W. Nuckols; three children, Lawrence P. Nuckols and his wife, Christine, Lucy Proffitt, and Ann Nuckols, all of Rockville. He is also survived by a brother, Roggie Nuckols; eight grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Sue C. Sanders, 63, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Richmond, passed away August 29, 2002. Two daughters, Daphne Potts Witzel of Jacksonville, Fla. and Angelia Potts Wactor of Seattle, Wash.; and four grandchildren survive her. Two sisters, Charlene C. Crews and Linda C. Lentini; and one brother, A. J. Cummins, also survive her. A private burial was held on September 8 in Jacksonville.

Vernie Franz Self, 86, a lifelong resident of Weems, Va., passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2002. She was a lifelong member of the Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, and a retired bookkeeper with the Standard Products Company in Kilmarnock. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Jan Self of Fredericksburg; two grandsons, Don Self Jr. and Shannon Self; two granddaughters, Kimberly Moulds and Melissa Kaila; and nine great-grandchildren. Ruth Nolte Sobrito left this life for a much better place on September 14, 2002. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 64 years, Charles J. Sobrito Sr.; two sisters, Lucille Scott and Mary Swann; one brother, Frank Nolte Jr. Mrs. Sobrito had four loving sons, Charles Jr., Thomas Wayne, Steven Paul, and Michael Frank Sobrito, and their wives. She was also survived by 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
