MARTIN
Mrs. Charlotte Britt Martin of Richmond, went to be with the Lord February 3, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Garvin C. Martin; children, Wendellyn M. Romine and her husband, Steve, Dr. Sidney N. Martin and daughter-in-law, Carolyn, Hope M. Chenault and her husband, Keith, and Dr. Lewis P. Martin and his wife, Susan; nine grandchildren, Toni Noel, Michael, Britt, Scott, Aaron, Ryan, Rachel, Stephanie and Abigail. Mrs. Martin worked at Chippenham Hospital for 14 years and was the recipient of the Dr. Frist Humanitarian Award in 1992. She was a longtime teacher and counselor at Bethany Place Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Maury Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Place Baptist Church, 1501 S. Providence Rd.

McCOWIN
John Lee McCowin Jr., 57, of Columbia, Va., departed this life suddenly on February 2, 2001. He was born March 10, 1943 in Goochland County, son of the late John Lee and Lorena McCowin. John was a devoted employee of Richfood for 34 years. He is survived by his wife, Felicia McCowin; two sons, Jeffery and Anthony McCowin of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Sue Courtney McCowin; one grandchild, Jeffrey "Jay" McCowin; two brothers, Daniel and Vaughn McCowin and his wife, Florence McCowin; one sister, Fronnie McCowin of Columbia; one aunt, Viola Walker; and one uncle, Frank Walker of Newark, N.J.; special friends, Michele Carroll, Malcolm and Brenda Price, Sherwood Pryor, Marvin Courtney, Frankie Payne, Glenn Duke and Cora McGhee. Remains rest at Thomasson's Funeral Home, Louisa, Va. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Goochland, Va. Rev. Lloyd Feggans will officiate. Interment church cemetery.

McVEY
Departed this life February 4, 2001, Mr. Lorenzo J. McVey of 2807 Sandy Lane. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

MEACHAM
James L. Meacham, 86, of Sandston, died Saturday, February 3, 2001. He was born in Raleigh, N.C. He was a graduate of the University of Richmond, obtained his Master's from VCU and had taken several graduate education courses from UVA. He worked with Henrico County Public Schools from 1955-1979 as the principal of Sandston Elementary and Jacob L. Adams Elementary Schools and later was the coordinator of an Adult Education program. He served as a captain of a PT boat during World War II in both the Pacific and European Theatres. Mr. Meacham is survived by his wife, Juanita Keck Meacham; three sons and their wives, Arnold and Benigna Meacham, Patrick and Carol Meacham, all of Georgia and Michael and Carolyn Meacham of Midlothian; three stepchildren and their spouses, Bo and Teresa Bennett of Mechanicsville, Vicki and Ron Dean of West Point and Tere and Larry Pistole of St. Stephens Church; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Antioch Baptist Church. Interment church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund.

MITCHELL
Charmaine C. Mitchell of 1117 N. 26th St., entered eternal rest January 28, 2001. Cherishing her memory are her daughter, Meryl Mitchell; four grandchildren; her mother, Irene Nunnally Mitchell; other relatives and friends. A eulogistic service will be conducted Tuesday, 1 p.m. at the All Faiths Chapel of the A.D. Price Funeral Establishment, 212 E. O'BIER
Richard Brandon O'Bier, age 2, of Richmond, son of Richard and Carmen O'Bier, and brother of Hunter McGhee, died Saturday, February 3, 2001. Other survivors include his maternal grandparents, Charles E. Choate and his wife, Debbie and Glenda S. Gunn and her husband, Robert; paternal grandparents, Neale and Elaine O'Bier; maternal great-grandparents, Dovey and Lillian Choate and Raymond and Nina Sumner; and paternal great-grandmothers, Louise Hayden and Faye Ashburn. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St. Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the MCV Children's Medical Center, c/o Heather Kinney, P.O. Box 980202, Richmond, Va. 23298-0202. POLLARD
George M. Pollard, 81, of Richmond, died Friday, February 2, 2001 after a brief illness. Born February 18, 1919 in Richmond, he was the son of the late Herman Pollard Sr. and Lucy Brooke Catlett Pollard. Mr. Pollard was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Alease Royall Pollard in 1991. He is survived by his son, Robert M. Pollard of Hampton; brother-in-law and best friend for 65 years, Andrew J. Winston and sister-in-law, Marian Royall Winston of Richmond; three nieces, Jean Pollard Dimmitt of Topeka, Kansas, Crystal Rae Winston Metcalf of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. and Jacqueline Harmon of Richmond; and a nephew, William Joseph Winston of Richmond. Mr. Pollard was a graduate of the University of Richmond, Class of 1940. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Metropolitan Lodge No. 11 AF&AM, Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies, ACCA Temple Shrine and its Legion of Honor, American Legion Post 125 and a longtime member of Ginter Park Baptist Church. His professional career spanned five decades, first in the insurance industry at Universal Life, Atlantic Life, Southwestern Life and Southwestern General Life, and he retired as a Senior Bank Examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, and where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 5. Interment in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ginter Park Baptist Church Memorial Fund or a favorite charity.

REAMS
Frances Oakes Reams, 69, of Midlothian, Va., died Saturday, February 3, 2001. She is survived by her husband, James R. Reams Sr.; her daughter, Pam R. and husband, Larry L. Wooton; her son, Rick Reams; grandchildren, Andrea and Ryan Wooton. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Patrick Henry Boys and Girls Plantation, P.O. Box 1398, Brookneal, Va. 24528.

RUCKER
Gloria Jeanne Rucker of Manakin-Sabot, died Sunday, February 4, 2001. She is survived by her husband, McDaniel Rucker III; and her son, Robin Randolph Rucker, both of Manakin-Sabot; sister, Jacqueline Wright of Englewood, Colo. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2001. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Manakin Fire & Rescue Company #1 or the Richmond S.P.C.A.

SADLER
Ellen Rathine Sadler, 90, of Chester, passed away February 3, 2001 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Sadler was born in Charles City County, January 18, 1911, and was the daughter of the late Harry and Bertha Cornelia Foster Rathine, and was the widow of Charlie Sadler. She was a retired employee for Titmus Optical Co. and a member of Chester Baptist Church, and a resident of Petersburg for many years before moving to Chester. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Linda Sadler of Chester; and daughter, Dorothy Craig of Aylett, Va.; three sisters, Velma R. McDaniel and Virginia Butler of Chester, and Doris Hubbard of Fairfax; brother, John Rathine of Chester; and grandchildren, Tracy S. Antrobius, Chuck Sadler, Julie McComb, Phillip Craig and Glenn Craig; and four great-grandchildren, Lauren Sadler, Christina McComb, Elizabeth Phelps and Richie Phelps. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, with the Rev. Edward Stanfield officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

SEWARD
David W. Seward Jr., age 23, of North Carolina, formerly of Richmond, passed away Friday, February 2, 2001. He is survived by his mother, Melody Foster and her husband, Matt; his father, David W. Seward Sr. and his wife, Amy; maternal grandparents, Wood and Evelyn Owen; two brothers, Taylor and Grant Seward; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Wednesday at Corinth United Methodist Church, Sandston. Interment Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Inn at NIH, 7 West Drive, Bethesda, Md. 20814.

THOMAS
Norma Taylor Thomas, 76, of Richmond, formerly of Norfolk, widow of William E. Thomas Jr., died suddenly February 2, 2001. A retired legal secretary, she is survived by her sons, Lt. Col. Warren E. Thomas and his wife, Laurie of Baltimore, Md., and Norman A. Thomas of Norfolk; brother, Kenneth Allen Taylor of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Wesley A. Thomas, K. Paige Thomas, Hannah R. Thomas and William Taylor Thomas. Also one niece, Janet Gail Taylor; and one nephew, Kenneth Allen Taylor Jr. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Stratford Hills United Methodist Church, the D.A.R., Oxford Civic Assoication and an auxiliary member of the National Association of Rainbow Division Veterans. She was also a charter member and past president of the Chesmond Women's Club and a former Docent at the Virginia Governor's Mansion. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held Wednesday, 3 p.m. A graveside service will be held Thursday, 2:45 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Stratford Hills United Methodist Church.

WEST

WROBLEWSKI
Maria E. Wroblewski, age 47, died Friday, January 26, 2001. She was a native of Poland, a local resident of Richmond, Va., for seven years. She owned the European Deli in Richmond, Va. She is survived by her husband, W. Jan Wroblewski of Richmond; one son, Daniel Wroblewski of Richmond; parents, Stainislaw and Mieczyslawa Slowinski of Poland; one sister, Malgorzata Ketlinski of Holland; two brothers, Bogdan Solle of Poland and Jacek Solle of Richmond. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Bridget's Church, 6006 Three Chopt Rd., Richmond, Va. 23226 by Rev. Albert Pinto. For those of you who act fast, your life will be short. If you look for the next morning at twelve noon, you will live only half of your life. By W. Jan Wroblewski.

ZIRKLE
Marianne H. Zirkle, 41, of Ivy, died on Sunday, February 4, 2001. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at St. Pauls, Ivy with interment to follow at noon in the Port Republic Cemetery, Port Republic. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Committee of the Martha Jefferson Hospital, 459 Locust Ave., Charlottesville, VA. 22902. Hill & Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ATTKISSON
Mason O. Attkisson, 89, of Rockville, departed this life after a long illness May 17, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances S. Attkisson; a son, James O. Attkisson and his wife, Linda of Rockville; a daughter, Faye A. Kennedy and her husband, Bill of Layton, Utah; and two grandchildren, David C. Kennedy and his wife, Jennifer of Roanoke and Mary K. Cole and her husband, Michael of Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Attkisson retired from VEPCO in 1974, and was an active member of Berea Baptist Church, Rockville. His remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., where the family will receive friends Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, May 20 at Berea Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berea Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 280, Rockville, Va. 23146.
