Cornelius S. (Bus) Norrell Jr. departed this life April 23, 2001 in Philadelphia, Pa. He is survived by his sisters, Gladys N. Stewart, Irene N. Cooley, and Lillie N. (Bernard) Ford; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Moore Street Baptist Church, 1408 W. Leigh St., Dr. Alonza L. PEYRONNET
Marion Stuart Miller Peyronnet, 84, passed away Monday, April 30, 2001, in Boca Raton, Fla. Until her move to Florida in 1993, Mrs. Peyronnet had been a lifelong resident of Richmond, graduating from Westhampton College. Beginning her teaching career in a one-room school house in Carson, Va., she retired in 1983 from Skipwith Elementary School in Henrico County after 25 years of teaching. Her passions were children, reading, gardening, bird-watching and nature. Mrs. Peyronnet was a member of the Three Chopt Garden Club and St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Before the church moved to the West End, she was a member and Sunday school teacher at Laurel Street United Methodist on Oregon Hill. She was an associate member of First United Methodist Church of Boca Raton. Her family and friends will remember her determination and love of life. For her no one was a stranger. Mrs. Peyronnet was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Peyronnet; and her sister-in-law, Julia B. Miller. She is survived by her brother, William Edwin Miller Jr. of Richmond; two daughters, Carolyn P. Timberlake and son-in-law, Merv "Tim" Timberlake of Boca Raton, and Mary P.

Williams of Coppell, Texas; five grandchildren, Stephen, Mary Paige, Christian Paul Timberlake, and Kelley and Melissa Williams; and a nephew, William Edwin Miller III. Remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street, where a service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2001, with interment to follow in Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. immediately preceding the service.

Mr. Edward F. Putney, age 91, died May 1, 2001, in Farmville. Mr. Putney retired after 40 years of service with the Virginia Dark Fired Tobacco Growers Association; also a member of the Farmville Moose Club, the Cumberland Ruritan Club and Cumberland Farm Bureau, and a lifetime member of Tar Wallet Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Thelma Spencer Putney; and nephew, H. Coleman Goodman Jr. of Midlothian. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, Farmville. Graveside services 11 a.m. Friday at the Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cumberland, Va. Taylor Jr. of 2108 Third Ave. He is survived by one daughter, Marthenia Richardson; one grandson, Keith Jones; great-grandson, LaKeith Hurd; mother, Elsie T. George Junior Timmons, age 70, of Mechanicsville, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Rachel Timmons. He is survived by three children, Michael W., George C. and Rachel C. Timmons; a brother, Milton R. Timmons; two sisters, Shirley M. Timmons and Carolyn L. Nelsen; a niece, Dawn M. Varnier; and six grandchildren. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Lyndes Virginia Thomas Walker, 78, passed away on April 29, 2001 after a lengthy illness. A native of Warsaw, Virginia she rendered 36 years of service to the Richmond County public schools as an elementary school teacher. Her entire career was devoted to her allegiance to the Lord, teaching and the welfare of her family. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 54 years, Jessie L. Walker Sr.; two sons, Jesse Jr. and Edward; daughters-in-law, Monica, Theresa; two grandchildren, Joelle and Kerrell; granddaughter-in-law, Taene; one great-grandson, Kamron; a sister-in-law, Henrietta Hardy; an aunt, Viola Tabb; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at the Lee Funeral Home in Warsaw, Virginia, where friends may pay their respects during the hours of 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 4. George B. Williams, 68, of Richmond, died May 2, 2001. Survivors include his fiancee, Donna Smith, who had made his last six years extremely happy; his daughter, Sandra Williams-Dick and son-in-law, Vincent Dick; sister, Madeline Schools; sister-in-law, Violet Williams; nephews, Bucky Schools and Skip Williams; and niece, Wanda Towberman. George was a loving and supporting father to Sandra and had just learned he was expecting his first grandchild. He was like a father to his nephew, Bucky. George enjoyed "piddling" with his many projects, including his boat "U-an-I". He was a unique and special person who will be missed by many. George was a lifelong resident of Richmond. He was retired from the RRHA after 30 years of service. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Vivian J. Wimmer, age 36, of Bon Air, died Monday, April 30, 2001. She was a registered nurse. Survivors include her husband, David L. Wimmer, Bon Air; father, John Dunn, Richmond; sisters, Katherine and Marie, Richmond; brother, Anthony Dunn, Richmond; niece, Josephine, Richmond; her pets, Lady, J.C. and Sheila; and other family members. Richard George Anderson, 77, of Glen Allen, died Saturday, August 18, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Helen Holley Anderson; two daughters, Patti Jo Anderson and son-in-law, J. David Grose of Yorktown, Va., Cynthia A. Schmidt and son-in-law, David R. Schmidt of Richmond; four grandchildren, Kaitlynn H. Grose, Lauren A. Grose, Travis B. Schmidt and Berkley R. Schmidt. Mr. Anderson was the son of the late Jesse C. and Berkley W. Anderson of Danville, Va. He retired from Bell Atlantic Telephone Company as a Security Supervisor and served in the 5th Air Force of the Army during World War II. He was also active in the Telephone Pioneers of America. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2001. Mildred Maddrey Butler, a longime resident of Petersburg, died peacefully in Franklin, Va. on August 18, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, H. Morris Butler. She is the daughter of Janet Ruth
Williams Maddrey of Southampton County, Va. and John Thomas Maddrey of Northampton County, N.C. Mrs. Butler was a graduate of Longwood State Teachers College and the VCU School of Music. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed church music very much and over the years was organist and choir director at The Washington Street Methodist Church, The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Petersburg. She enjoyed and was forever grateful for her many friends in the church and music communities. She is survived by her daughter, Janet B. Barker of Tucson, Ariz.; her son, Thomas S. Butler of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth B. Klingensmith, James R. Barker, Elizabeth M. Butler and Thomas S. Butler Jr.; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances M. Healey of Williamsburg, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 225 Claremont St., Petersburg.
