DALEY
James Clement Daley, 21, beloved son of Mary Jane and James Daley of Richmond, died suddenly on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 in Marion, S.C. A 1998 graduate of James River High School, "Jimmy" is also survived by his sister, Erin Dyer and her husband, Ashley Dyer of Richmond and his grandmothers, Mrs. Mary Hauck of Baldwin, N.Y. and Mrs. Margaret Zimmerman of Amityville, N.Y. Jimmy, who worked at Capel Rugs in Richmond, was an avid softball and basketball player who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was born in Germany on October 31, 1980. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with a Christian Wake Service at 2 p.m. Saturday. Funeral Liturgy will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
DEAL
Donald Frederick Deal, 66, of the 700 block of Oak Grove Rd., died Sunday, October 28, 2001 in Chesapeake, Va. Born in Old Norfolk Co., Va., he was the son of the late Willis Rutter and Mary Elizabeth Dixon Deal and was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Hildegard H. Deal. Mr. Deal was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Deal is survived by a daughter, Lisa Deal Schroeder and her husband, Scott of Ely, Iowa; two sons, Randall R. Deal of Clarksville, Tenn., Frank Koblischke and his wife, Ann of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren, Amy Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Shiloh Deal of Broxton, Georgia; one sister, Kay
Smith and her husband, Winford of Norfolk, Va.; and one nephew, Mark Lowe and his wife, Michelle of Virginia Beach, Va. There will be no services or gatherings. Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, is handling the arrangements.
DYE
We mourn the passing of Hibernia Cheives Dye on Thursday morning, November 1, 2001. She was born in Petersburg, Virginia on May 26, 1939 to the late Edward J. Cheives and the late India Cheives Pearson. She was the widow of Charles M. Dye. Hibernia was a graduate of Peabody High School. She was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church located in Petersburg, Virginia. She was a former member of the Senior Ladies Usher Board. Hibernia married Frank Dyson of Petersburg, Virginia and in 1959, the family relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There she was employed by the Macke Company as a secretary. In 1975, the family returned to the Richmond area. She retired in 1995 after 17 years of service with the Department of Mental Health/Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services for the Commonwealth of Virginia serving as executive assistant to the director. She leaves to mourn her, her stepfather, Robert Pearson of Petersburg, Va.; her children, Larry Dyson Sr. (Sharon) of Stone Mountain, Ga., Rene' Dyson of Chesterfield, Va. and Calvin Charles Dyson of Richmond, Va.; her brothers, Robert S. FLETCHER
Helen McHugh Fletcher, 86, of Old Church, Va., died on November 1, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Samuel Harold Fletcher; son, Samuel Kimbrough Fletcher and daughter-in-law, Sandra
Carter Fletcher of Houston, Texas; grandson, Michael Fletcher; granddaughter-in-law Beth Fletcher; and great-granddaughter Samantha Fletcher; sister, Dorothy Montgomery; and brother, Donald McHugh of Duncansville, Pa. Mrs. Fletcher was born and raised in western Pennsylvania. Following her marriage in 1940, her life was spent living in Virginia. A memorial service will be held Monday, November 5 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Old Church, Va., where Mrs. Fletcher was a member. The family requests that a contribution to the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Building Fund be considered in lieu of flowers.
GRAY
Elmer Stringfellow Gray, 96, died Wednesday, October 31, 2001, in Chattanooga, Tenn., where she resided for the past three years, having lived most of her life in Waverly, Va. A native Virginian, she was born at Belair Farm in Culpeper County, the daughter of the late George Stringfellow and Mamie McMullen Stringfellow. She was a graduate of Randolph-Macon College where she earned a bachelor's degree in both Latin and Mathematics; a lifelong member of the Episcopalian Church; a very active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Waverly at both the parish and diocesan level, and served as Altar Guild head; had served as a board member of the Order of St. Luke Anglican Fellowship of Prayer, and was a member of the Virginia Historical Society. During WWII, she was employed by the United States Army at Ft. Lee, Va. as an editor of technical journals. Mrs. Gray was the widow of the late Alfred Landon "Pete" Gray. Mrs. Gray is survived by her son, John D. Gray of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; her sister, Frances Stringfellow Gray of Newport News, Va.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2001, at Christ Episcopal Church, 203 E. Main St., Waverly, Va., with the Rev. Macon Walton and Dr. Rufus Womble officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services. Leona Buchanan Harris, 92, widow of Clarence LeRoy Harris, died Thursday, November 1, 2001, at Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston. Surviving are daughters, Shirley H. Clay of South Boston and Carolyn H. Toone of Clarksville; a son, Clarence LeRoy Harris Jr. of Newport News; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakhurst Cemetery located in Clarksville. Grace Gatling Herrmann of Chester passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2001. She was born in Portsmouth and was the daughter of the late Thomas David and Annie Monell Gatling. She was an accomplished pianist working for WTAR Radio in Norfolk and later transferring to WRNL Radio in Richmond. She was a member of Meadowbrook Country Club. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, George F. Herrmann, who retired as superintendent of Chesterfield Power Station; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy H. and Kenneth Wayne Viar of Chester; two very special grandchildren and their spouses, Peggy V. and Christopher W. Powers of Wilmington, N.C. and Kenneth Wayne and Stephanie F. Viar Jr. of Chesterfield; and two great-grandchildren, April Lynn Powers and Caroline Gatling Powers. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. C. Lynn Jonske, 37, of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, November 1, 2001 at her home. She is survived by her husband, David P. Patricia Kline Ludwig, 54, of Colonial Heights, died Thursday, November 1, 2001 in Medical College of Virginia. She was born in Columbia, Pa. and was the daughter of the late Harry H. and Murel Recter Kline. Ms. Ludwig attended St. Ann Catholic Church and was a retired civil service accountant. Russell Vaughan Palmore, 85, of Ashland, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Conde Booth Palmore; his children, Russell V. Palmore Jr. of Richmond, Conde P. Hopkins and her husband, Ron, Lelia P. Wehman and her husband, Paul, all of Ashland. He is also survived by a brother, Fred W. Palmore Jr. and his wife, Betty; and grandchildren, Ryan Hopkins and his wife, Elizabeth, Haden Hopkins, Annie Palmore, Jessie Palmore, Ragan Bowman, Peyton Bowman, Brody Wehman, Cara Wehman and Blake Wehman; a sister-in-law, Clifford Booth Pierce; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Palmore was retired from American Hardware Co. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Ashland. He had served as a member of Hanover County's Selective Service Board, the Hanover County School Board and the Ashland Town Council. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2001 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Ashland. Dorothy F. Pogge of Alexandria, Va. went to be with our Lord on October 30, 2001. She is survived by her husband, retired Lt. Col. Wesley H. Pogge, a WWII veteran. She is also survived by her son, Roger of Hampton, Va., the Republican Chairman of Virginia's 1st Congressional District and his wife, Brenda. She is also survived by five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Annie King Pulley, 87, died at her residence at 9710 Qualla Rd. in Chesterfield, Va. She was formerly of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. Mrs. Pulley was preceded in death by her husband, Alton E. Pulley. She is survived by one daughter, Emma Marie Pulley; one son, James R. Pulley; two grandchildren, Kimberly Pulley and Scott Pulley; two great-grandchildren, Kaila and Morgan Pulley, all of Chesterfield, Va. She is survived by three sisters, Mamie Etheridge and Mattie Everton of Norfolk, Va. and Eula Boyd of Roanoke Rapdis, N.C. The visitation will be held Saturday, Novemebr 3, 2001 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Branch Funeral Home. The service will be Sunday, November 4, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Branch Funeral Home.
