Roy Ronald Buxton Attride Jr., 59, peacefully but unexpectedly on May 16, 2002. Mr. Attritude, formerly of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., Alexandria, Va. and Raleigh, N.C., resided in Richmond, Va. Mr. Attride is survived by his family and loved ones, Mrs. Roy R.B. Attride Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Attride, Mr. William Attride and Mrs. Isabel Summer of New York; Mr. and Mrs. James McCullough of California; Mrs. Helen Attride, Mr. and Mrs. Roy R.B. Attride III, Mr. Thomas Attride, Ms. Susan Jay of North Carolina; Mr. and Mrs. Jon Abrams of Georgia and Mr. Ryan Jay of Florida. He had three nieces and two great-nephews. Mr. Attride served during the Vietname War and was a captain in the Air Defense Artillery. He was employed with Louis Berger and VMS of Richmond for the last 15 years and served as their Vice Presidents. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Attride will be held in Raleigh, N.C. on June 22, 2002. Miss Esther G. Barrett of 2811 Barton Avenue died May 23, 2002. Surviving are three brothers, James Jr., Alvin and Jerome Barrett; one sister, Ethelynd B. Taylor of Hyattsville, Md.; three nephews; three sisters-in-law, Katie Smith, Constance and Delores Barrett; cousins, other relatives and friends. Miss Barrett taught for 42 years at Woodville Elementary School before retiring, and was the former choir director at Moore Street Baptist Church. Mildred H. Bayne, 63, of Chase City, died May 25, 2002. She was clerk of General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for Lunenburg County, a member of Black Branch Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband, Ned Bayne; son and daughter-in-law, John Stuart and Kathryn Bayne; mother, Maude Hankins; brothers, Harry and Charles Hankins; sister, Doris Ruggera; granddaughter, Hailey Lynn Bayne. Lacy O'Neal Brumback, widower of Tanner Koiner Brumback and beloved father of Jane Brumback Bachmann, departed this life Saturday, May 25, 2002. Lacy was born in Frederick County, Virginia September 23, 1905, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech in 1930. He taught vocational agriculture in Augusta County, Virginia before joining Southern States Cooperative in 1936. Lacy retired as Director of Membership Relations from Southern States in 1970. From 1970 to 1980, he served in public relations for Dairymen Incorporated. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Cooperative Council, served as Conference Vice-Chairman of the 40th Session of the American Institute of Cooperation in 1968. He was chairman of the Agricultural and Conservation Committee of the West Richmond Kiwanis Club, a member of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and former president of the Richmond Chapter of the VPI Alumni Association. He was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Richmond and served as a member of the Board of Deacons and a member of the Session as Elder. He is survived by a daughter, Jane Brumback Bachmann; son-in-law, Andrew G. Bachmann; two grandsons, Andrew Gregory Bachmann and Brian O'Neal Bachmann; and three great-grandchildren, Sage Laura Bachmann, Connor O'Neal Bachmann and Bryn Virginia Bachmann. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment 3:30 p.m Wednesday at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro, Va. Mary Jane Dunlow, 98, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2002. She was the widow of Clarence Graham Dunlow and was preceded in death by her son, R.C. Dunlow. Ennis Davis Haney, 98, of Earld Farms in Ruckersville, died May 24, 2002 at home. He was born February 16, 1904, in Greene County, a son of the late George A. and Haseltine
Powell Haney. He was a retired employee of Sprint Telephone Company, a member of the Piedmont Stella Masonic Lodge #50 for 69 years, the Greene County Republican Committee and Westover Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 65 years, Frances Deane Haney; three brothers, Everette, Ovel and George S. (Pete); and one sister, Beulah H. Garrison. He is survived by a son, George W. Haney of Ruckersville; two daughters, Barbara D. Haney of Mechanicsville and Betty H. Woodward and her husband, Clement L. Woodward of Richmond; a grandson, William Overton Woodward and his wife, Leslie G. Woodward; and two great-grandchildren, Will and Catherine Woodward, all of Alexandria; and a brother, Edwin B. CWO Berryman Leonidas Hicks (U.S. Air Force Retired), 81, of Colonial Heights, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Hopewell Convalescent Center, Hopewell. He was born in Spartinsburg, S.C. and was the son of the late Richard Burton and Myrtle Langford Hicks. Mr. Hicks was a CWO with the U.S. Air Force, having served 29 years and receiving a Bronze Star, along with many other medals. Mr. Hicks was a member of Downtown Baptist Church in Alexandria and a member of West End Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a long time member of the Gideon Society. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his wife, Lois K. Hicks. He is survived by a sister, Myrtle L. Swanson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister-in-law, Dorothy M. Kennedy of Alexandria, Va.; five nephews, M.
