WHITE
Dickey McKee White Sr., 75, of Powhatan, died December 12, 2001. He was the son of Jessie J. and Robbie K. White. He was born in Nelson County and raised in Newport News. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Ella Hughes White; daughter, Margaret L. White of Virginia Beach; son, Dickey M. White Jr. and his wife, Peggy of Newport News; stepson, William C. Hughes and his wife, Sharlene of Hawaii; sister, Twyla W. Pittman and her husband, David of Florida; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. White was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of Red Lane Baptist Church and American Legion Post 201. He was Past Master of Powhatan Masonic Lodge No. 295, served as District Deputy Grand Master and a Past Patron of Powhatan OES 146. He retired from Bass Construction after 23 years, and again from Parker & Lancaster as general field superintendent. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan, and where a Masonic service will be held 6:45 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at Red Lane Baptist Church, Powhatan. Interment 2:30 p.m. at Jonesboro Baptist Church Cemetery, Piney River.
YETZER
Marie S. Yetzer, 86, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 11, 2001. She was born in St. Mary's, Pa. where she lived for 47 years prior to moving to Farmville, Va., where she and her husband retired. In 1989 she moved to Newport News, Va. to be closer to her family. In 1996, upon the death of her husband of 53 years, Casper Leo Yetzer, she moved to Richmond to live with her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Isabel Schreiber; and three brothers, Leo, Edward and Leonard Schreiber. Marie is survived by a brother, John Schreiber of St. Mary's. Pa.; her son and his wife, Joe and Rhonda Yetzer of Carrollton, Texas; two daughters and their husbands, Diane and John
Smith of Newport News and Debbie and Craig Churn of Richmond; and five grandchildren, Joe Bob Yetzer, Beth and Michael Smith, and Christina and Travis Churn. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, December 14, 2001 at 12 noon at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church by Father Charles Breindel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may go to your charity of choice. Weymouth Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
AGEE
Matthew and Zachary Agee, infant sons of Randolph T. Agee II and Jennifer Rae Hardy Agee, died July 3, 2001. Also surviving are their brother, Christopher Agee; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Randy T. Agee, Mr. and Mrs. Ray D. Hardy and Linda Parsons, all of Mechanicsville; two great-grandmothers and a great-grandfather; two aunts and an uncle; five great-aunts and nine great-uncles. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Old Church. Martha Rochelle Andrews, age 78, joined our Lord on July 7, 2001; wife of the late Ernest H. Andrews; the daughter of Sabra Jolly and Edward Rochelle. She is survived by Genine A. and Edward Evans; grandson, Troy and Melissa Blackman; and great-grandson, Jackson Scott; grandson, Adam and Samantha Blackman; and great- granddaughter, Eily Victoria; E. Courtney and Doris Andrews; granddaughter, Jeannette Louise; devoted lifelong friends, Gretchen B. Hinton and Bernice B. McFarland; her loving LPC family and neighbors. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Services will be conducted at Lakeside Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. on Monday. Flowers are graciously declined for Mausoleum burial at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Jon Gothard Bach, 46, of Ashland, died July 6, 2001 after a long and brave battle with leukemia. He is survived by his wife, Cathy

Carter Dry Goods and Notions, from its beginning in 1927 until it closed in 1993. CHAPPELL
Lydia Hatfield Chappell, widow of the artist, illustrator, book designer and author Warren Chappell, died June 25, 2001 at her home in Charlottesville, Va. of natural causes. Lydia Chappell was born in Hickory, N.C. in 1908. At the age of 16. she entered Westhampton College in Richmond, Va., where she met her future husband, a Richmond native who was attending the University of Richmond. The couple lived in New York City and Norwalk, Connecticut for many years before moving to Charlottesville, Va., in 1978 where Warren Chappell was affiliated with the University of Virginia as an Artist-in Residence. Throughout his career, Warren Chappell considered his wife his muse and inspiration, and one of the typefaces he designed was called Lydian after his wife. When she was hospitalized following a stroke in 1985, he wrote, "I can make the drawings and run the errands, but she makes the days and nights for us both". Mrs. Chappell is survived by her brother, Weston P. Hatfield of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Washington, D.C. Martha Kemp Crowe of Millers Tavern, died July 6, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert L. Crowe and Russell L. Crowe. She was born in King and Queen Co., but lived most of her life in Richmond, where she was employed by the American Tobacco Co. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Georgia C. Brooks and Helen Kemp; and beloved nieces and nephews. She was a member of Smyrna Christian Church Bruington, where a service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday. Family will receive friends at the B.W. Marilyn R. Faison, 64, of Richmond, died Thursday, July 5, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Frank A. Faison; her children, Larry, David, Beth and Trish; four grandchildren, Jimmy, William, Stephanie and Kristina; and an aunt, June Dunbar. Diane Covington Gibson of Mechanicsville died July 6, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Stuart Gibson. Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Susan Gibson. Other survivors include her sons and daughter, Steven Gibson, Kevin Gibson and his wife, Robin, and Robin Walsh and her husband, Keith; grandchildren, Chase Gibson, Kristi and Nicole Walsh; brother, James Covington Jr.; sister, Sharleen Hudson. Ellyson T. (Sam) Goodman, 91, of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, July 7, 2001 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor G. (Aggie) Goodman; his daughter, Patricia Childress and her husband, Herbert; two grandsons, Robert E. (Buzz) Childress, Charles R. (Rusty) Childress and his wife, Pam; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Collins Goodman. Cary Patricia "Patty" Hall, 51, of Charlottesville, died Thursday, July 5, 2001 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born September 15, 1949 in Richmond, Virginia and was the daughter of Harry L. and Cary Gilman Smith. Patty was a kindergarten teacher at St. Anne's Belfield prior to her illness. She previously taught pre-school at St. Anne's, Molly Michie and Canterbury in the Charlottesville area. She also taught in Williamsburg and Richmond. Patty grew up in Richmond and graduated from Mary Washington College. She was a board member of Children, Youth, and Family Services. Patty was committed to her role as a teacher of young children and dedicated herself to providing positive educational experiences in their early years. Her courage and kind spirit served as an inspiration to her family, friends and all who knew her. She was a member of Church of Our Saviour. Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, James B. Hall of Charlottesville; her children, Anna Kate Hall, Cary Binggeli and her husband, Carl; and one granddaughter, Olivia Binggeli, all of Charlottesville; a sister, Susan Savage and her husband, Rod Savage, MD of Roanoke; three nieces, Claire Savage of Boston, Mass., Courtney Fender and her husband, Steve and their daughter, Sydney, all of Chesapeake, Va., and Taylor Savage of Roanoke; nephew, Scott Savage of Roanoke. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2001 at Church of Our Saviour with Rev. Harold H. Hallock, Jr. officiating. Interment will be private. Miss Eloise White Hayes of 2711 Barton Ave. departed this life July 4, 2001. She is survived by her parents, Melvin R. and Virginia J. Hayes; son, Vayise Greene; devoted friend, James Greene; four siblings, Aisha Hassan, Yasmeen Hassan, Ameer Hassan and Jessica Hayes; grandmother, Martha J. Greer; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, and a great many devoted friends. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School, where she was a scholar and a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She was a member of the City of Richmond Advisory Council, Spanish Honor Society, Holler Back, Bethlehem Softball League and many other organizations. Her remains rest at the W. S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home. After 10 a.m. Monday, her remains will rest in Bethlehem Baptist Church, where her family will receive friends at 1 p.m., and where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Rev. George L. Hutt, age 91, of Montross, widower of Lucille Shearwood Hutt, died on Friday, July 6, 2001. Mr. Hutt was retired as President of the Peoples Community Bank, formerly the Peoples Bank of Montross. Along with a nephew, Benjamin Edwards of California, Mr. Hutt is remembered by many business associates, and long standing community members.
