George F. (Frank) Moore, 75, of Varina, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Moore; his sons, Carl of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Earl and his wife, Karen of Coopersburg, Pa., John and his wife, Anissa of Mechanicsville, Curtis and his wife, Paula of Varina; his sisters, Ruby Wyland of Esmont, Atlee Moore of Schuyler, Tina
Brown and Gloria O'Brien, both of Scottsville; also his granddaughters, Heather, Jenna, Rachel, Terri, Kimberly and Tanya. He was retired from Philip Morris after 43 years and was a member of the VFW Battlefield Post #9808. His remains rest at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, and where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday. William Forrest (Bill) Phillips, a veteran of World War II, entered eternal life on Saturday, August 18, 2001. Forrest was a longtime member of Fairmount Memorial Baptist Church and a retiree of Dupont. He is survived by his wife, Margie Bond Phillips; his two daughters, Frances D. Phillips and Nancy C. Phillips; two sisters, Elizabeth P. Ramsey and Mary Hugh Cook; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, and where services will be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Joe Pleasants Sr., sunrise June 9, 1922, sunset August 15, 2001. He was born in Hanover County, Va., to the late Andrew and Mary Jane Pleasants. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maebell Pleasants; seven daughters, Mary S. Dance, Dorothy M. Pleasants, Cheryl M. Thompson, Francine Pleasants, Joann Pleasants, Arnette Heiskell and Lisa Crump; four sons, James Jordan, Andrew and Joe Pleasants Jr. and Jerome Crump; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Irving Pleasants; a host of nieces and nephews; three daughters-in-law, Clementine Jordan, Maria Pleasants and Denise Crump; two sons-in-law, Roy Dance and Alvin L. Thompson; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Lee and Betty Allen; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. ROBINSON
Mrs. W. Wyche Robinson, age 90, died on Saturday, August 18, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. William Wyche Robinson. The former Annie Pearl Tignor, a native of Elmont in Hanover County, was a longtime resident of McKenney, and was active in the affairs of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, James Benton Robinson and his wife, Brenda McDonald Robinson of Richmond; a sister, Hazel Tignor Parker of Richmond; a brother, Arthur Carlton Tignor of Ashland; three grandchildren, William Wyche Robinson II of Richmond, Victoria Gilmer Robinson of Richmond, and James McDonald Robinson, also of Richmond. The family will receive friends at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 103 S. Adams St., Petersburg, on Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Asbury Cemetery, McKenney.

Emma Olsen Schneider, 84, of Midlothian, died Friday, August 17, 2001. She is survived by her brother, Edwin A. Olsen of New York; three nephews, George Schneider, Barry and Bradley Olsen; a niece, Laurinda Olsen Meisner; and five great-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Schneider was a member of Salisbury Country Club. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. Funeral service 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 9800 W. Mason Alexander Shutts, 3 1/2 months, went home to his Lord on August 18, 2001, after a valiant fight with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Survived by his parents, Don and Beth Shutts; a brother, Austin; grandparents, Bob and Betty West Buchert; Aunt Beverly Buchert; Uncle Blake; and Aunt Christin Buchert. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery by Rev. James M. Tongue and Rev. Philip Waltz. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, and the family will receive friends following services at the church. Elizabeth Crawford Taylor, 84, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 18, 2001. The former owner and operator of Chipman's Shoe Store in Laurel, Delaware. She was the widow of Lacy F. Taylor, and is survived by her daughters, Carol T. Shockley and Betty T. Garrett; sister, Frances C. Smotherman; grandchildren, Erin S. Corbitt and T. Louis E. Thurston, 81, of Henrico, passed away August 18, 2001, the widower of Madeline (Toney) Seay Thurston. He is survived by a brother, Thomas Earl Thurston; two sisters, Rosemary Mancha and Peggy T. Butler; and several nieces, nephews and a host of fishing buddies. He was retired from William Byrd Press and an Air Force veteran and a former Flotilla Commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Michael Vitale, age 40, of Studley, died August 17, 2001. He was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Michael Vitale; and a sister, Carol Ann Vitale, and is survived by his wife, Susan Gwen Bryan Vitale; his daughters, April Kristen Vitale and Erin Leigh Vitale; his parents, Mary Myers and Jim Vitale; his mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law, Norma and Al Hopper and Nita and Ron Bryan; his brothers and sisters, Charles Vitale, Denise Vitale, Annette Shuff, Cecelia Peay and Tony Vitale; and numerous other family members. Mr. Vitale was the owner and operator of Studley Enterprises and a member of Bear Wallow Hunt Club.
