Trey was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Trey was a gifted and creative artist who also loved hockey, skateboarding and computers. He was a student at Atlee High School. John D. Carter, 67, of Midlothian, died Friday, December 22, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Polly Carter; his son, Douglas P.
Carter and his wife, Nancy of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three nieces, Diana Miller, Debbie Thornton and Denise Sperry and their families. Mr.
Carter was a member of Westover Hills United Methodist Church, Manchester Lodge #14 AF&AM, Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies, ACCA Temple Shrine where he was the Director of the Million Dollar Band and the Sauerkrauts German Band, a member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court #16, and the 90 & 9 Breakfast Club. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, and where a Masonic Memorial Service will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday followed by visitation until 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 27 at Westover Hills United Methodist Church. CARTER
Patricia Anne Carter, 68, of Quicksburg, Va. died Friday, December 15, 2000 at her home. She was born October 5, 1932 in Buffalo, New York and was the daughter of the late George and Teresa McGrath Barrick. Mrs.
Carter moved to Quicksburg in April of 1986 from Silver Spring, Md. and was a member of the Catholic church. She had worked for a number of years as a ticket agent for an airline company. On December 28, 1957, she married George Warren
Carter Jr., who survives. Also surviving are two brothers, George J. Barrick and John R. Barrick, both of Buffalo and a sister, Suzanne M. Barrick, also of Buffalo. Memorial serivces will be conducted Friday, January 5, 2001 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Highland Springs, Va. by Father James Guttendorf. Her body was cremated at Harrisonburg Cremation Service and burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the R.M.H. Cancer Center, 100 East Grace St. or to R.M.H. COOLEY
Marian Paige "Peggy" Stover Cooley, 76, died December 23, 2000. She was the daughter of Frank Carson Stover and Mary Virginia Funk Stover. She was the widow of Charles E. Cooley whom she married in 1943. She is survived by three children, Cela Annette Watson of Gloucester, Craig S. Cooley of Richmond and Cynthia Paige Conine of Kathleen, Georgia. She had seven grandchildren. Mrs. Cooley had one sister, Madolyn Stover Kitchin. Mrs. Cooley attended the public schools of Strasburg, Virginia, Mary Washington College and James Madison University. She was a direct descendant of Peter Stauffer, who founded Strasburg in 1761, and of Colonel Joshua Stover, who was killed in the battle of Chancellorsville. Her grandfather and father owned and operated Stover's Funeral Home for several generations. Mrs. Cooley had lived in Madison, Wisconsin, Richmond, Cape Charles and Harrisonburg during her 55 years of marriage before returning to Strasburg. She was a member of the Strasburg Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at the Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, Virginia. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2000 at the Strasburg Christian Church and interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg. DILLARD
Julian M. "Dooley" Dillard of McLean, Va., died on Saturday, December 23, 2000. He is survived by his devoted wife, Brigit U. Dillard; father of J. Scott Dillard and William G. Dillard, both of Richmond; brother of John N. Dillard and Benjamin L. Dillard III, both of Richmond. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Brad Nelson and Jackie McKisson; and his grandchildren, Jessica Dillard of Harrisburg, Pa., and Coleman Dillard of Richmond; many nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren also survive. He was captain pilot for United Airlines, retiring in 1990. As a captain pilot for the U.S. Marine Corp., he fought for the United States effort in the Korean War. Born in Richmond in 1930, the son of the late Benjamin L. Dillard and Julia M. Parsons Dillard, he attended the colleges of the University of Richmond and the University of Miami. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, Va., on Thursday, December 28, 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Dooley Dillard. FISHBURNE
Caroline Bogdanoff Fishburne, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 23, 2000. She died peacefully after a long and exhausting illness. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul G. Bogdanoff; and her second husband, Robert W. Fishburne. Mrs. Fishburne was a teacher and a dental hygenist, a member of Stonewall Manor Garden Club, and Lakeside Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Anne B. Sides and Loraine B. Atkinson; special daughter, Ann F. Duthie; twin brother, Gus Rowe of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; two sons-in-law and one special son-in-law who were loved as sons; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She will remain forever in our hearts. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 1 p.m. at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Lorna E. Golladay, 95, died December 22, 2000. She was preceded in death by her son, M. Charles Steiker. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Bette) Marcussen; three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Golladay was a nurse and a bible teacher. Her greatest joy was in serving others. She was a member of the Patterson Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church. Julia Tanner Harding, age 79, of Keysville, died Sunday, December 24, 2000. Surviving are her husband, Herman P. Harding Sr.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles R. and Betty Harding of Keysville, Herman P. Harding Jr. of Keysville, John D. and Brenda Harding of Midlothian, Tommy and Cindy Harding of Keysville; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Hammett of Orange, California; one nephew, Wayne Tanner of Keysville. Betty S. Hollins, age 65, of Bum-pass, Va., died Friday, December 22, 2000. She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory H. Sprouse, and is survived by her husband, Frank A. Sprouse of Richmond; her grandchildren, Angela Sprouse, Elizabeth Stanley and Mark Stanley; her mother, Grace M. Fuller of Richmond; two brothers, Harold Fuller of Staunton and Doug Fuller of Fredericks Hall; her stepdaughter, Nancy H. Byers of Bumpass; and her stepson, Sam Hollins of Doswell. Louise P. Hurt, 90, of Richmond, widow of Thomas Roy Hurt, died Monday, December 25, 2000. She is survived by her son, Thomas L. Hurt; her daughter, Emily H. Lumpkin; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters and one brother. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 12 noon Wednesday. Jennice Hyatt Sr., 60, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on December 24, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Rosa E. Hyatt; son, Jennice Hyatt Jr.; daughters, Dale E. Tate, Jennifer D. Hyatt; brother, Casey Hyatt; stepdaughters, Kimberly G. Johnson, Rhonda F. Johnson; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Hyatt was a superintendent at English Construction Company. Scott Davis Lewicki, 26, of Midlothian, died suddenly December 21, 2000. Mary Basile McCann born October 20, 1925 in Hopewell, Va., died Sunday, December 24, 2000. She was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Maria Basile, and the widow of Virgil McCann. Mrs. McCann graduated from Hopewell High School, Class of '42. She attended Richard Bland College, graduated from Smithdeal Massey Business College and attended MCV. She was a retired Biostatistician with the Federal Government. She was President of Senior Citizens Advisory Commission, City of Hopewell for many years, she served as vice-Chairman, Board of Directors for Crater Area Agency on Aging for many years, President, Board of Directors, City Point Adult Daycare Center, Board of Directors HPI (Beacon), member of Hopewell Twining Association, Treasurer of Historic City Point Association, member of Hopewell Community Industrial Panel, Charter member Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation since 1984, John Wayne Foundation APVA (Preservation of Antiquities), Army Quartermaster Foundation and Our Lady of Fatima Traditional Catholic Church. She is survived by two brothers, Frank Jeffrey Basile and Anthony (Tony) J. Basile; two sisters, Christine Basile Rose and Janet Basile Beaudet; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening with a Rosary said at 7 p.m. followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m. at the Gould Funeral Home, Hopewell, where a Requiem Mass will be offered 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by interment in Appomattox Cemetery.
