Theresa Fahed Kestle of Richmond passed away October 29, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Edward R. Kestle; three sons and their wives, Edward A. and Donna, Douglas J. and Glenda, and Chris R. and Hope Kestle; 10 grandchildren, Abigail, Katie, Joey, Stephanie and Christopher Kestle, Betty Eshbaugh, Angela, Stephanie, Donnie and Shannon; two great-grandchildren, John and RaeLynne; four sisters, one brother, numerous nieces and nephews. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and where a Rosary Service will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. KINCHEN
Minnie P. Kinchen of Brunswick County, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on October 28, 2001 at the Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, Va. Minnie was born on March 3, 1903 to the late Thomas and Mary Peterson of Brunswick County, Va. She leaves behind her grandsons, Alonzo Kinchen Sr. (Shirley) and Najee Abdullah; a granddaughter, Eugenia Kinchen; great-grandsons, Alonzo Kinchen Jr. and Jason Galloway; great-granddaughters, Sakisa Kinchen and Jasmine Galloway; sisters, Sally Reavis, Jessie Hicks and Virginia Mays; and one brother, Joseph Peterson. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 1 at 12 noon at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with interment in the Mt. Pleasant R.Z.U.A. Church Cemetery. MAITLAND
Isabella Maitland, born August 8, 1907, departed this life Tuesday, October 30, 2001. She was a lifelong member of Aberdour Presbyterian Church, which she served faithfully as Sunday School treasurer and church historian. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Annie Rae Maitland as well as three sisters, Annie Barnes, Mary Barnes and Margaret Dunn; and five brothers, George Maitland, Andrew Maitland, Alex Maitland, Billie Maitland and David Maitland. Mrs. Maitland is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her as a devoted and faithful aunt. The family will recieve friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Owen Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2001 at Aberdour Presbyterian Church. Interment to folow in the church cemetery. Johnny Eugene Mitchell Jr., age 66, of Richmond, died Sunday, October 28, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sylvia E. Mitchell; children, Rebecca Crawford, Rachel Mayo, Johnny E. Mitchell III, Emma Hawkins, Patricia M. Greene, Lutricia M. Bentley, Yvonne M. Williams, Ersenior Mitchell and Christa Mitchell; 24 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Joyce Mitchell; sons-in-law, Robert Bentley and Larry Hawkins; two brothers, Patrick Mitchell (devoted) and James Mitchell; sister, Rosa Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Queen Randolph, Indiana Jordan, Jessie Robinson and Nina Fitzgerald; brothers-in-law, Aaron Robinson Sr., William Fitzgerald, Herman Randolph Sr. and Robert Jordan Sr.; devoted friends, Miranda Bogle and Theodore Crawley; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Gloria Reynolds Morgan of Richmond died Tuesday, October 30, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Leroy M. Morgan; her son, Christopher Lee Morgan; her daughter, Patricia Lynn Morgan Humphries; two sisters, Linda Reynolds Lemieux and Gail Reynolds Burt, both of Florida; four grandchildren, Carl M. Humphries, Karly Morgan Humphries, Clinton Max Humphries, Dylan Shane Morgan; two brothers-in-law, Dave Morgan and wife, Joan, Floyd Morgan and wife, Frances; sister-in-law, Barbara Riddle and husband, Kelly. OGLESBY
Earnest Jackson Oglesby Jr., 82, of Richmond, died October 29, 2001. He was born June 2, 1919 in Richmond, the son of the late Earnest Jackson Oglesby and Katherine Geddy Oglesby. Mr. Oglesby was a retired U.S. Army captain and World War II veteran, a member of the 2nd Armored Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received June 11, 1944, off the coast of Normandy, France. Mr. Oglesby was also the last surviving charter member of Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad, which organized in December, 1953. He served as an active member for 27 years and, later, a life member. A 1942 graduate of VMI, Mr. Oglesby was president of All American Insurance Agency, Inc., and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Society of the Cincinnati. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irmgard Weber Oglesby; two sons, Michael Jackson Oglesby and his wife, Randy, and William Geddy Oglesby and his wife, Marcia; two daughters, Cameron Mathilde Oglesby and Christine Elizabeth Oglesby; four grandchildren, Melanie, Jessica, Pamela and Caroline, all of Richmond; two brothers, Nicholas Perkins Oglesby and his wife, Rosalyn of Greensboro, N.C., and David Berger Oglesby and his wife, Pat of Rolla, Mo.; and two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Oglesby Haugh and her husband, Charles of Charlottesville, Va., and Martha Oglesby Lisle of Kensington, Md. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2001, at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, 10627 Patterson Ave., where the family will receive friends afterwards. Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Pomeroy, age 44, of Blackstone, Va., died Sunday, October 28, 2001. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond B. Pomeroy Sr. Jerry is survived by his mother, Evelyn C. Pomeroy of Blackstone; two brothers, Butch Pomeroy of Conway, N.C. and Michael Pomeroy of Blackstone; a sister, Wanda P. "Sissy" Fore; and two nieces, Jessica Darlene and Amanda Gayle Fore, all of Blackstone. Chapel funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Patsy Trainham Rife, age 60, of Richmond, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 29, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Vincent H. Rife; five devoted sons that she lovingly gave of herself for her entire life, Norman Brooks Jr., Christopher S. Brooks, Kevin Brooks, Vincent Rife Jr. and Spencer Rife. Also cherishing the memory of her life are 10 grandchildren that put the twinkle in Grandma's eye. She is also survived by her sister, Becky Dawson; two beloved nieces, five loving daughters-in-law; beloved cousins, Josephine Hayes and her husband, Jimmy and Betty Lamb; her best earthly friend, Pat Helton; as well as many loving Christian friends from her community Bible study group. Mrs. Rife was a housewife and full time mother and grandmother who loved her family and the Lord above all else for the eternity of her life. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at the West Chapel of Bennett Fuenral Home, 11020 W. James Richard Scott, 99, of Manor Care Stratford Hall Nursing Home, Richmond, died Thursday, October 25, 2001 at Retreat Hospital, Richmond. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, the late Hallie James Scott. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Helen

STEPHENS
Anna Delk Stephens (Mrs. A.E.S.) died on October 29, 2001. She was born Anna Spratley Delk on November 15, 1903. She spent her entire life in Smithfield where she finished high school. She graduated from Hood College in Frederick, Md. and was a member of Mortar Board Society of that college. She was married in 1929 to Allie Edward Stakes "Gi" Stephens of Wicomico Church. He served for many years in the General Assembly of Virginia and for ten years as the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia; he died in 1973. Mrs. Stephens is survived by three children, Jean Stephens Mundy of Richmond, Marthanne Stephens
Smith of Baltimore and George Delk Stephens of Virginia Beach. Additionally, she is survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Until last year she resided in "The Grove," an historic property in downtown Smithfield which was built around 1780. Mrs. Stephens was a member of Christ Episcopal Church where for many years she was active in teaching Sunday School and sang in the choir. A very involved member of the community, she had worked in the PTA and had been a den mother for the Cub Scouts and chairman for the Girl Scouts and the American Red Cross. She had belonged to the Junior and Senior Woman's Clubs and in 1968 she received the Smithfield Junior Woman's Club Outstanding Woman of the Year award. She was on the permanent altar committee of the Historic St. Luke's Church and also served on the building committee for the restoration of the old courthouse in Smithfield. She was a member of the Daughters of the Colonists, the Colonel William Allen Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Shakespeare Class. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 111 S. Church St. in Smithfield or the Historic St. Luke's Restoration Foundation, P.O. Christine R. Stewart, age 67, of Richmond, passed away Monday, October 29, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Carey Stewart; five children, Nadine Trivette and Ricky, Donald, Jessie and Allen Stewart; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Stewart was an active member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church. She touched the lives of many who will deeply miss her. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Richard F. "Dicky" Taylor, 65, of Richmond, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Beverly F. Taylor; two daughters, Susan T. Evans and Robin T. Fulcher; four grandchildren, Blair Patterson, Cody Evans, Shannon
Brown and Taylor Findlay; two sisters, Ellen T. Martin and Carline T. Newby. Mr. Taylor enjoyed drag racing, fishing and hunting. Shirley Elliott Taylor, 64, of Caret, died Monday, October 29, 2001. She was an employee of WalMart and a former employee of French's Supermarket with over 30 years of service. She is survived by her children, Patricia Taylor of Tappahannock and Franklin Jay Taylor of Caret; two sisters, Mary Elliott and Alice Taylor, both of Caret; and her granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Parker. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, November 2, in the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Upper Essex Baptist Church Cemetery, Caret. Maxine LaFoon Tush, 77, of Hopewell, departed this life on October 27, 2001. She was born in Victoria, Va. to Mary C. Tucker of McKenny, Va. and Waverly H. LaFoon of Kenbridge, Va. Her husband, Harry S. Tush Sr., preceded her in death on February 13, 1999. Her son, Harry S. Tush Jr., also preceded her in April 1982. Surviving are two sons, Ronnie W. Tush and his wife, Judy of Hopewell, Mark S. Tush and his wife, Karen of Charles City; grandchildren, Rhonda Mayle of Chester, Jennifer Tush of Prince George, Jonathan Tush of Chesterfield, Andrew Tush of Charles City, Mary Cameron Tush of Chesterfield, Harry Tush III of Lynhurst and Sherry Woods of New Hope; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Costenbader and her husband, Ralph of Gulfport, Fla.; two nephews, Randy Costenbader of Irving, Texas and David Costenbader of Hollis N.H. She worked at Allied Chemical from February 21, 1962 until she retired on May 2, 1989. During her lifetime she was involved with her church, was president of the Business Professional Women's Club and many other activities. Graveside services will be conducted by the Reverend Kenneth Hendricks of Woodlawn Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, at the Virginia Veteran's Cemetery in Amelia, Va.
