HAYNIE
Ralph Braden Haynie, age 74, of Lively, Va., died Wednesday, March 13, 2002. Born in Miskimon, Va., he was the son of the late Samuel Thomas Haynie Sr. and Virginia Gertrude Christopher Haynie. Mr. Haynie was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Thomas Haynie Jr.; and a sister, Adelina Mae Marsh. Mr. Haynie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Helen Jean Clark Haynie; two sons, Ralph Frederick Haynie and his wife, Margaret Ann Johnston Haynie, Chester, Va. and Thomas Gene Haynie and his wife, Teresa LaVerne Bussells Haynie, Mechanicsville, Va.; four grandchildren, Christopher Braden Haynie, Megan Elizabeth Haynie, Thomas Gene Haynie Jr. and Terence Brick Haynie; three sisters and their husbands, Annie Laura and Hobart Beane, Miskimon, Va.; Ruth and Robert L'Hommedieu, Warrenton, Va. and Ruby and Lawrence Payseure, Tappahannock Va.; a brother and his wife, Howard Oswald and Mary Vonne Haynie, Reston, Va.; a sister-in-law, Marie S. Haynie, Baltimore, Md.; and a brother-in-law, Hugh P. Marsh, Lancaster, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Haynie served in the U.S. Navy Reserve in World War II and was a brickmason for forty-three years. He was a member of Bethel UMC of Lively, Va. where he served as chairman of the official board. He was a charter member of the Upper Lancaster Ruritan Club and a charter member of the Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served as secretary and treasurer for seven years. Mr. Haynie's Masonic affiliations include being a member of the Lancaster Union Lodge #88 A.F.&A.M., Kilmarnock, Va. where he served as a trustee and past Worshipful Master; a member of Heathsville Lodge #109 A.F.&A.M., Heathsville, Va.; a past District Deputy Grand Master and District Education Officer of the 9th Masonic District; and a member and past Worthy Patron of King
Carter Chapter #5 O.E.S. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in Bethel United Methodist Church, Lively, Va., with interment in the church cemetery. Eleanor R. Kronimus, 92, of Richmond, widow of Ernest J. Kronimus, died Thursday, March 14, 2002. She is survived by two sons, Ernest Jack Kronimus and J. Kenneth Kronimus; and two grandsons, Brian K. Kronimus and J. Neil Kronimus. Mrs. Kronimus was a member of Bon Air Baptist Church. Sadie E. Lawrence, 84, of Richmond, died March 10, 2002 in her home. She was the widow of Maynard E. Lawrence. She was a charter member of Epiphany Lutheran Church. She is survived by a son, Stephen M. Lawrence; a daughter, Judy Lawrence; three grandchildren, Carrie L. Donley, Sarah L. Meeks and Matthew S. Lawrence; two great-grandchildren, Alex M. and Brianna J. Donley. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother who live in Pennsylvania. C. Minor (Goodie) Martin, 80, of Sandston, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Virginia Martin; a brother, Bobby
Green Martin; his oldest grandson, Cooper E. Hollis; and an infant granddaughter, Erin Naomi Martin. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lena Stuart Martin; his four children, Ray Martin and his wife, Jean, Ambra Hollis and her husband, Frank, Bailey Martin and his wife, Donna and Barry Martin; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jeff Martin; two sisters, Fannie Epps and Cynthia Triplett. Mr. Martin was retired from Nabisco, was a member of Eastern Kiwanis, served as deacon and was a very active member at Fort Lee Baptist Church. Kathleen "Kitty" McKee Sewell, 69, of Richmond, died suddenly on March 7, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Cooper Sewell; and will be missed by many loving cousins and friends. Mrs. Sewell was born in Birmingham, Ala. and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women. She held a Master's Degree from Emory University and was the first female English teacher in that department. She lived in Boston for 30 years, and lived in Richmond for the last seven years. A memorial service will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 5 North 5th St., on Sunday, March 17 at 12:30 p.m.

Marion LaVerne Simpson, 91, of Richmond, widower of Ethel H. Simpson, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002. He is survived by his children, Saundra S. Bowler, Vern Simpson Jr. and Elaine S. Walsh; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Simpson was a member of New Covenant Baptist Church since 1957, member and past president of Richmond Host Lions Club, a Capt. in the Army during World War II and a retired electrical engineer for Virginia Power with 42 years of service.
