Dorothy "Dot" Fitzgerald Watkins, age 59, of Richmond, after a courageous battle with cancer, departed this life August 5, 2001. She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Fitzgerald; and her stepfather, Richard Tyler. She leaves to cherish her memory her faithful and beloved William C. Watkins; devoted mother, Lillian F. Tyler; five devoted and loving children, Reverend Major A. Richardson and his wife, Betty Jean, Valerie R. Virginia C. Brown, principal, dies at 77

Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth Cottrell Brown, 77, a career educator in the Richmond County Public Schools and a two-term member of the Northumberland County School Board, died Sunday.
Mrs. Brown, who taught in Richmond County for 39 years, was the county's first black principal, taking the head job at Farnham-Julia G. Page Elementary School in 1971.
While there and at two subsequent principal posts, Mrs.
Brown built a strong reputation, said Richmond County School Superintendent Karl O'Dell. "Those of us who worked with Mrs.
Brown were deeply touched by her life," O'Dell said, calling hers "a life of dedication and service."
A graduate of Northumberland High School, Mrs.
Brown completed her undergraduate studies at Virginia Union University. She received her master's in education from the University of Virginia.
Mrs.
Brown began teaching in Richmond in 1952. She retired in 1990.
Elected to the Northumberland School Board, she began her first term in 1990. She served until 1998.
Mrs.
Brown was a deacon at Shiloh Baptist Church in Reedville. She was the widow of Vernon Brown, whom she married in 1945.
She is survived by a nephew, Richard T. Ruffin Sr. of Hartford, Conn., and four nieces, Shirley Gray of Fairfax, Iris Anderson of Maryland, Debbie Anderson of Washington and Linda
Brown of Texas.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Reedville, with burial following at Second Baptist Church Cemetery in Warsaw.

Mouin J. Aboulhosn, age 34, of Richmond, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Jamil and Aida Aboulhosn; three brothers, Zouhair, Ziad, Ghassan Aboulhosn; two sisters, Fairouz Makarim and Hanan Ballout. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday. Charlie Howard Allen Sr. entered into eternal life on Tuesday, March 12, 2002. He was born on February 29, 1923 to the late Booker T. and Ida May Allen of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena Allen; his son, Charlie Allen Jr.; his daughter, Patricia Willis; and his brother, Jack Allen. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Julia and Carolyn Lewis; one son, Robert Allen; one sister, Julia Johnson; one daughter-in-law, three sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many devoted family members and friends. Dorothea Patricia Blondell, age 74, of Richmond, died Thursday, March 14, 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Klink of Richmond and Patsy Kraeger of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son, Robert Kraeger of Middletown, Conn.; one sister, Margaret Blondell of Richmond; and one grandson, Mark Kraeger. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave.

Deacon Arthur (Bo) Bodrick, 66, of Richmond, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 10, 2002 at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Hospital. Born September 22, 1935 to the late Bessie and William Bodrick, he is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Rev. Carolyn M. Bodrick; six sons, Melvin Smith, Arthur, Kirk, and Harrison (Nikeyta), Alvin and Marvin (Kimberly) Roane; three daughters, Cheryl Washington (Thomas), Trina Gooding (Jobie) and Crystal Doby (Melvin); two brothers, Jessie and William Bodrick; two sisters, Willie Mae Wimbush and Gracie Bodrick; six sisters-in-law, Aretha Lewis (David), Catherine Edwards, Elaine Pryor, Barbara Ann Battle (Richard) and Janester Briggs; one brother-in-law, John Pryor (Carolyn); twenty-seven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Deacon Bodrick was a devoted member of the Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he served in various capacities, among them as a member of the Board of Deacons, Scouting Committee Member and Scout Master for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Victory Ministry. Deacon Bodrick worked at Reynolds Metal Company, where he retired after 29 years of dedicated service. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 65 and served for over 10 years in the United States Navy. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, 2700 North Ave, where his family will receive friends Friday 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church. Interment Riverview Cemetery.

Beulah Taylor Boyer entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 13, 2002. She precedes her husband of 52 years, Julian "Ed" Boyer of Powhatan; four children and their spouses, Phillip and Debra Boyer, Dan and Susan Boyer, John and Kim Boyer, Mary Etta and Daniel Yu; 14 grandchildren; her sisters, Stella Richardson, Ardean Goss and Irene Gross; one brother, D.C. "Buck" Taylor; and many other dear relatives and friends. In a life of love and service, Mrs. Boyer was a Past Matron of the Powhatan Chapter 146 OES and a fondly remembered Cub Scout Den Mother.
