TANG
Mr. En Hou Tang, 92, of Goochland, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Chu-Han Wang Tang. He is survived by his son, Jack H. Tang and his wife, Ruth Tang of Naperville, Ill.; daughters, Nora Yu and her husband, Larry Yu and Terry Yu and her husband, H.C. Yu; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.
TAYLOR
Ann Baxter Adamson Taylor (Mrs. Robert Hay Taylor), only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Darnley Adamson, born in Richmond June 11, 1919, married Robert Hay Taylor in 1942, widowed in 1952, died of emphysema in Baltimore, Md., February 20, 2001. Survived by her brother, Thomas Darnley Adamson Jr. and his family, all of Richmond; and her only child, Sally Adamson Taylor of San Francisco. Ashes will be placed at the family plot in Hollywood Cemetery.
TYLER
Mrs. Lucy Jane Pope Tyler, age 76, died Tuesday, February 13, 2001, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. Mrs. Tyler was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Barton and Selina Dorricott Pope. She lived in Richmond, Va., moved to Charleston, S.C., and lived in Franklin since August of 2000. A graduate of Randolph Macon Woman's College, she did graduate work at the University of North Carolina in communications and also later took advanced study in theology and social work. She worked in various advertising and public relations positions including: radio station WLAC and Castner Knott; advertising manager and public relations director at Montgomery Fair; vice president of James Advertising Agency; director of TV and Radio at George Washington University; produced and moderated numerous radio and television programs, including "The Other Two Billion," which was acclaimed as the outstanding educational program for NBC; won many national advertising awards; assistant to the program manager for WRVA in Richmond, Va., where she produced and moderated "The Moral Side of the News," which also won several awards. Afterwards, she served as television consultant for the Dept. of Anatomy at Duke University and as a teacher of art. She was a member of the St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C. Mrs. Tyler was the daughter-in-law of the late Dr. Lyon G. Tyler, president of the College of William and Mary, and granddaughter-in-law of John Tyler, 10th president of the United States. Survivors include husband of 43 years, Dr. Lyon G. Tyler (professor of history emeritus at The Citadel) of Franklin, Tenn.; and daughter, Susan Selina Pope Tyler of Knoxville, Tenn. Funeral services will be conducted at Westover Episcopal Church with burial in the church cemetery in Charles City County, Va., on Saturday, February 24, 2001, at 3 p.m. Arrangements by Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel.
WEAVER
Albert Faulkner Weaver, 84, died February 21, 2001, at his home in Midlothian, Va., after a long illness. Mr. Weaver was a member of the Class of 1940, University of Richmond. He served in World War II and in the 80th Division U.S. Army Reserve, where he attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bettie W. Weaver; daughter and son-in-law, Bettie W. Brandt and F. Lamar Brandt; by his son and daughter-in-law, George F. Weaver and Patti R. Weaver; and two grandchildren, Charlotte F. Weaver and Ross W. Weaver of Powhatan, Va. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 23, 3:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Huguenot Springs Road, Midlothian, conducted by Dr. Gary Light, pastor, Winfree Memorial Baptist Church. Family will receive friends in the Bethel church parlor following the service. Memorial gifts may be made to the building funds of Winfree Memorial Baptist Church or Bethel Baptist Church. Sarah M. Able, 21, of Chesterfield, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2001. She is survived by her mother, Kim Able; father, Joe Able; sisters, Joey and Nora Able; nephew, Kodi Loeffelholz; niece, Sydney Gibbs; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sarah was a 1998 graduate of Manchester High School, a nursing student at John Tyler Community College and a volunteer EMT for Manchester Rescue Squad. Sarah was loved by all who knew her and touched many lives. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd, where the family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Elkhardt Baptist Church. Joyce Redford Barker, age 58, of Glen Allen, Va., died Wednesday, August 8, 2001. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Ruth Pinney; a brother, Lewis Redford; and leaves to mourn her husband, Albert G. "Plug" Barker; four daughters, Debbie Nuckols and her husband, Dickie, Vickie Barker and her husband, Scott Griggs, Christy Gregory and her husband, Garland, and Marie Wood and her husband, Tommy; one brother, Hank Pinney and his family; and her stepfather, Joe Pinney. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Mandy Wayne Mills, Shelly Nuckols, Carrie Hawk, Brian Gregory, Emily Gregory, Annie Gregory, Adam Gregory, Sara Wood, Justin Wood and Kristen Wood. There will be open visitation from 2 p.m. Thursday through Friday evening at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St., Glen Allen. Mrs. Linnell E. Blackburn, age 88, of Hopewell, formerly of Richmond, died Tuesday, August 7, 2001 in Hopewell. Mrs. Blackburn was born April 1, 1913 in Richmond, Va., the daughter of the late Asa Claude and Violia Sandridge Evans and was the widow of John T. Blackburn. Linnell retired from the U.S. Government with her last assignment at the State Headquarters Selective Services System. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan U. and John W. Mays III of Hopewell; a son, Howard T. Urbach of Petersburg; and a grandson, Michael A. Stanfield. Melvin Wyatt Estes, 89, of Richmond, died August 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Jane Puller Estes; one daughter, Beverly Estes Bates; a son-in-law, John Wythe Bates III of Richmond; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Puller Bates of Arlington and Dr. Kathryn Wellington Bates of Richmond. He attended the University of Richmond as a member of the class of 1931 and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Mr. Estes was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. He was a member of St. John's Lodge No. 36 A.F.&A.M., Baltimore Royal Arch Chapter No. 40 of Elkridge, Md., a life member of Richmond Elks Lodge No. 45 and a life member of the Virginia Boat Club. Mr. Estes worked for the ESSO Co. and later went to work for Larus and Brothers, Inc. as a sales representative in Eastern and Southwest Virginia and Hampton Roads as military and naval sales representative and as division manager for the State of Maryland out of Baltimore. He returned to Richmond and was the owner of an Exxon Service Center for 20 years before retiring. He loved the outdoors and was a member, over a period of many years, of hunt clubs in New Kent, Prince George and King William counties. Virginia Mae Hasbrouck of Richmond, widow of Lee J. Hasbrouck, died Wednesday, August 8, 2001. She was a member and elder of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, member of Tuckahoe Woman's Club, the Country Club of Virginia, and a board member of the University of Richmond Chapel Guild. She was a volunteer at Chippenham Hospital and Ginter Hall Nursing Home for many years as well as Meals on Wheels. She is survived by three cousins, Diana Queen of Ohio, Edwin Nulty and Eleanor Smith, both of New York.
