Lewis D. Fowler, 83, of Richmond, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2002. Born November 14, 1918, the sixth of nine children to the late William H. and Pattie W. Fowler. He was the widower of Margaret Joyce Page Fowler. Surviving him are his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce F. and Carl E. Stargardt; sister, Charlotte F. Elliott; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fowler was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, a former fireman with the McGuire Veterans Hospital Fire Department, and a retired maintenance worker for the City of Richmond. His family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Branch's Baptist Church Cemetery. Cindy Wolfrey Frazier, 45, of Prince George, died Saturday, September 14, 2002 in MCV Hospital. Mrs. Frazier was born in Petersburg and was a fiscal assistant with 18 years of service with the Virginia Department of Transportation. Preceded in death by her father, Wilton Bryant Wolfrey, she is survived by her husband, Michael A. Frazier of the home; two daughters, Jamie Frazier Van Epps and her husband, Todd of Surry, Samantha Marissa Frazier of the home; a very special friend, Jennifer Moogalian
Jones of Prince George; her mother, Frances S. Wolfrey of Sussex; two sisters and three brothers, Linda Dianne Lewis of Dinwiddie, Raymond B. Wolfrey of Colonial Heights, Wilton Wayne Wolfrey of Sussex, Frances Dale Alter of Matoaca, George Eric Wolfrey of Dinwiddie; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18 in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Lawson, pastor of Faith Baptist Church of Waverly, officiating. The entombment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Shirley H. Geddes of Williamsburg died September 14, 2002, after a long illness. Mrs. Geddes is survived by her husband of 51 years, Allan Geddes; a daughter, Nancy L. Geddes of Williamsburg; three sons, John H. Geddes of Plantation, Fla., Brian P. Geddes of Shelby Township, Mich., William W. Geddes of Birmingham, Mich.; two granddaughters, Kathleen Leupold of Williamsburg and Brittany Geddes of Birmingham, Mich.; her mother, Mrs. Eleanor W. Hughes; and a brother, William K. Hughes, both of Corning, N.Y. Following her marriage to Allan at Christ Episcopal Church in Corning, she and Allan lived in Rapid City, S.D.; Rockford, Ill., and Bloomfield Hills, Mich., before retiring to Williamsburg 15 years ago. Shirley was a loving mother, fine homemaker and an active and participating member of
Green Springs Garden Club and the P.E.O. during her entire life. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown, with inurnment following in the church cemetery. HUSKE
Leighton Huske III, 63, passed away on September 14, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anne Rawles Goolsby Huske; two children, Anne Gibboney Huske and Isabel Kyle Huske, who reside in New York City; and his sister, Janie Huske Satterfield. He was predeceased by his parents, Verna Worthington Huske and Leighton Huske Jr. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and in 1994 from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was employed for 42 years by the former Branch Cabell & Company, now RBC Dain Rauscher, beginning his career as a chalk boy. He became a partner in 1970, was elected president in 1997 and was elected chairman in May 2000, and served in that capacity until the company was aquired. Mr. Huske was the former president of the Securities Association of Virginia and the Bond Club of Virginia. He served as chairman of the Securities Industry Association Sales and Marketing Committee. He was a former allied member of the New York Stock Exchange and a member of the Midwest Stock Exchange. He was involved in many civic activities, including serving as a trustee for the Virginia Student Aid Foundation and a trustee of Historic Richmond Foundation. He was current president of the Alliance Franchise Chapitre Rochambeau and current president of the West End Civic Association. He was a parishoner of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Funeral service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 6000 Grove Ave., Richmond, Va., on Tuesday, September 17, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. Richard C. Levers, Major, U.S. Army, Ret., age 84, of Sandston, passed away September 15, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn

Daniel, also of Newport, Va.; his sister, Virginia Schmitt of Wilmington, N.C.; his brother, Leroy F. Levers of Orange, Calif. Mr. Levers retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service and served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Sandston V.F.W. Post 8529. Jimmy McLennan Sr., 70, of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, September 14, 2002. Ethel L. Childress Melton, 88, widow of Raymond E. Melton, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 14, 2002. She was preceded in death by two sons, Lewis E. Melton and Raymond E. Melton Jr.; one daughter, Madeline M. Johnson; and granddaughter, Brenda M. Lund. She is survived by two daughters, Gloria M. Meador and Audrey M. McClure and their husbands, Earl F. Meador and Willard D. McClure Jr.; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Julia M. Melton; other devoted family and friends. Ethel was a longtime member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church, and was retired from Thalhimer's (Children's Shoe Department), and the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation. Martin Stanford Nordlinger, 72, of Richmond, formerly of Norfolk, a longtime real estate broker in Richmond, died September 15, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Zela Kingoff Nordlinger; two daughters, Joanne Faith Nordlinger, and Sharon Hope Nordlinger; two stepchildren, Debra Margaret Markel and Samuel Andrew Markel; sister, Gertrude N. Hoffer; seven grandchildren, one niece. Mr. Nordlinger attended Maury High School, Salisbury School in Connecticut, and received his bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1951. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He later received a master's degree from New York University. He was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Richmond, the 5400 Men's Club, and the American Civil Liberties Union. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Virginia Aldona Brannon Pate, 85, died Saturday. Surviving are her daughter, Kay Pate Gray of Richmond; sons, Michael, Gerald and Phillip Pate; sister, Agnes Brannon Perry, all of Zebulon, N.C.; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. David Nathaniel Perkinson, 53, of Hopewell, died September 14, 2002 in John Randolph Medical Center. Mr. Perkinson was born in Petersburg a son of the late Ollie and Frances Wilson Perkinson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a heavy equipment operator with Tarmac. Survivors include his wife, Trudy Perkinson of the home; three children, Valerie Perkinson of Florida; James and Johnny Perkinson of Arkansas; two stepchildren, Carol Coker of Hopewell, Jimmy Upton of Prince George; two sisters, Lucille Edwards and her husband, Tommy of Prince George, Phyllis Colvin and her husband, John of Dinwiddie; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17 in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The interment will follow in Merchants Hope Cemetery.
