SCHUMANN
Louis Albert Schumann Jr., 77, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue Harper Schumann; a daughter and her husband, Carroll S. and Jim Savage; a son and his wife, Robert H. and Debra Schumann, all of Midlothian; a daughter and her husband, Martha S. and Scott Synnott of Reston, Va.; a son-in-law, J. Carter Ramsey III of St. Simons, Ga.; a sister, Doris S. Butler of Richmond; and was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet S. Ramsey; and also survived by eight grandchildren, Lindsey and Kathryn Savage, Brian and Corinne Schumann, John and Ashley Ramsey, and Amanda and Andrew Synnott. Mr. Schumann was a member of River Road Church, Baptist, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, and active member of the Ruben Alley Men's Class. He was a graduate of the University of Richmond, a retired naval reservist, who served on active duty during WWII, a retired employee of the C&P Telephone Company with 43 years of service, and a member of Midlothian Masonic Lodge #211 AF&AM. His family will receive friends at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at River Road Church, Baptist, with interment in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the River Road Church, Baptist Building Fund.

SELDEN
Richard Angus Selden, 69, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2001. He was preceded in death by his son, Court P. Selden and a son-in-law, Fred A. Hamilton Jr., and is survived by his wife, Gladys M. Selden; three daughters, Donna R. Taylor and her husband, David of Apex, N.C., Debra K. Selden of Ossining, N.Y. and Evelyn M. Hamilton of Mechanicsville; eight grandchildren, Cole and Michelle Taylor of Apex, N.C., Ashley, Tyler and Courtney Selden of Mechanicsville, and Taylor, Nash and Court Hamilton of Mechanicsville; four sisters and two brothers, all of Richmond. Mr. Selden was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict, a member of the American Legion Post #125, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6364, the Tuckahoe Moose Lodge, and a lifetime member of the Pioneer Club. He retired from the C&P/AT&T Telephone Company with 38 years of service. His family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

ST-ONGE
Donna J. Ferguson Pasko St-Onge passed on October 6, 2001. She was born on November 25, 1935. She is survived by a large and loving family and will be especially missed by her daughters, Lisa, Lori and Kelley; her beloved grandsons, Robert L. Parrish III and Brian C. Eubank; and her brothers, Edward and Carlos and their families. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2001 at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, 10551 Chalkley Rd., Chesterfield. Pastor Fred Spivey will conduct the service. Remembrances are welcome at 11312 Regalia Dr., Chesterfield, Va., 23832 where the family will receive friends following the service.

Departed this life October 9, 2001, Ollie H. "Teddy" Trice of Richmond, Va., formerly of Louisa Co. He is survived by his wife, Pricilla Trice; three sons, Quenton E., Mark A. and Ollie R. Trice; three daughters, Thelma Boone, Nicole Thomas and Helen Pace; 26 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Jean Altizer Belter, 73, of Mechanicsville, widow of Dr. Lester F. Belter Sr., M.D., died Tuesday, March 13, 2001. She is survived by a son, Lester F. Belter Jr. of Hesperia, Calif.; and a brother, E. Ray Altizer Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va. Mrs. Belter was the president of the Pamunkey Garden Club and a member of the Maymont Foundation and the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Immanuel Episcopal Church, Mechanicsville, Va. Interment church cemetery. Helen L. Cecil, 92, of Ruther Glen, died March 15, 2001. She was the widow of Albert T. Cecil. She is survived by two daughters, Mary C. Lindsey and Virginia L. Moran; four grandchildren, Varney C. Lindsey III, Thomas C. Lindsey, Albert Lacy Moran and Cynthia Wray Curtis; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Adelle L. Carter. The family will receive friends at Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Haywood L. Christian, a native of Manakin, Va., residing in Washington, D.C., departed this life March 14, 2001. The staff of the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home is serving his family.

Departed this life March 13, 2001, Mrs. Dorothy Ford Coles, formerly of 1918 Maplewood Ave. She is survived by one son, Samuel Thomas Coles Sr.; one grandson, Samuel Thomas Coles Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Saida Coles; great-nephew, William Quarles; great-niece, Rosa Quarles; and cousins; one daughter-in-law, Gertrude Coles; great-niece-in-law, Jean Quarles and Andrain Smith and husband, Swann Smith; and other relatives and friends, among them caretakers, Ann Motely and Jackie Battle. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Saturday, 12 noon at Moore Street Baptist Church, 1408 W. CONNER
Howard Thomas Conner, 70, of Dundas, Va., died March 15, 2001. Mr. Conner retired as supervisor of Lunenburg County Schools Transportation Department, served his country in the Marines during the Korean Conflict, and was a life member of the Kenbridge Emergency Squad. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jansch Conner; his son, Tommy Conner of Dundas; his sisters, Mattie Byrd of Chase City, Alyene Neal of Victoria, Christine Hardaway of Blackstone, Hazel Williams of Williamsburg, Ann Reese of Colonial Heights; his brother, Early Conner of Victoria; his brother-in-law and cousin, Ottie M. Conner of Kenbridge; and his nephew, Woody Conner of Kenbrige. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17 in the Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge with burial in the Kenbridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Kenbridge Emergency Squad in Howard's memory.

COUTLAKIS
Phyllis Elizabeth (nee Seay) Coutlakis of Lighthouse Point, Fla., passed away on March 15, 2001. Born in Fluvanna County, Va., on August 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Seay. She was educated at the Richmond Polytechnic Institute, the Monterey Peninsula College and the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. She had worked as a financial analyst for the Wells Fargo and Crocker National Banks and later as a cattle rancher and prolific artist. She had exhibited and had agents in Carmel, Calif., and New York City, and her paintings of landscapes and portraits were sold throughout the United States mostly under the name of Mattart. She was an accomplished quarterhorse rider and performed in the Cow Palace in exhibitions. She had also been a judge for the U.S. Olympic Equestrian Team. She won numerous awards for her horsemanship and paintings. She retired to Florida in 1968 and had numerous hobbies and interests and in her later years was an ACBL director. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Harry Coutlakis of Lighthouse Point; her brother, Curtis Seay and his wife, Diana; her sister, Marjorie Johnson and her husband, Sidney; and numerous cousins, nephews and a niece, and their families. Memorial contributions may be sent to Fluvanna County Historical Society, Palmyra, Va. 22963. Cremation by Kraeer Funeral Home in Pompano Beach.
