Mrs. Rosa Patterson Wood departed this life peacefully at home on December 24, 2000. She is survived by two nieces, Miss Florence O. Patterson and Mrs. Jean Patterson Brooks; five great nieces, Miss Florence M. Smith of Richmond, Va. Mrs. Wood taught school in Amelia County, Virginia, before joining the Richmond City Public Schools where she stayed until her retirement in June 1968. Mrs. Wood was a devoted member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Gleaner's Bible Class, The American Association of Negro Women, The American Association of University Women, The Retired Teachers of Richmond, Delver Women's Club and the Tents Association. Her remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, After 10 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2000 her remains will rest in Ebenezer Baptist Church where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Pastor Wallace J. Cook, officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family please assemble at Watkins Funeral Home at 10 a.m.
ALSPAUGH
Marylou C. Alspaugh of Richmond, Va., widow of Jasper D. Alspaugh, died October 12, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn A. Chapman of Richmond; two stepdaughters, Anita A. Moorman of Fredericksburg and Vicki A. Cain of Zexina, Ohio; also five stepgrandchildren. Mrs. Alspaugh was a member of Brandermill Woods Woman’s Club. She was on the board of the Shepherd’s Center, member and founder of SAAM Club, Westover Hills United Methodist Church and a member of the Richmond International Council and Friendship Force. The family will receive friends Friday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

SW1, Robert H. (Bobby), U.S. Naval Reserves, age 46, of Doswell, passed away, Wednesday, October 11, 2000. Bobby was the widower of Donna F. Campbell. He is survived by two daughters, Rachel N. Campbell and Jessica L. Mills; three brothers, Andrew G. Keck, Edward L. and Michael W. Campbell; three sisters, Virginia Blaska, Rosemary Campbell and Jacqueline Kirby. Bobby was employed by Martin Marietta Agregates with 26 years of service and also a member of Doswell Ruritan and an active reservist in the U.S. Navy. Friends may call at the Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, on Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m., and where services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, with burial in Mt. Mario F. Esposito, age 68, of Prince George, died Thursday, October 12, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Esposito; a son, Mark M. Esposito; a daughter, Autumn E. Bedwell; four grandchildren, Mark and David Esposito and Mary Katherine and Erika Bedwell; a sister, Dolores Soich. Mr. Esposito was a retired vocational director for Hopewell City Schools and was a U.S. Army veteran. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gould Funeral Home, Hopewell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery. Ida Haeberlin of Richmond died on October 11, 2000 at the age of 88. A native of Zurich, Switzerland, she was the widow of George Haeberlin. Dwight (Spec) McKee Hash Sr., 87, of Chesterfield, died October 13, 2000 at John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell. Phyllis Jean Fritts Jeffries, 63, of Southaven, Miss., and formerly of Kenner, La., and Richmond, Va., passed away on October 10, 2000 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall W. and Betty A. Fritts of Richmond, Va. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Robert Thomas Jeffries Sr.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marshalene F. and Warren Reeves of Goochland, Va., and Sue H. and Charles R. Caldwell Jr. of New Kent, Va.; two stepsons, Robert T. Jeffries Jr. and Phillip C. Jeffries and his wife, Ruth; three stepgranddaughters and five nephews. A memorial service was held on October 12, 2000 in Southaven, Miss., with private memorial services to be held on October 14, 2000 in New Kent, Va.

Mrs. Verona G. Montero, 93, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Raysal, W.Va., departed this life Thursday, October 12, 2000, in Forest Hill Manor, Richmond. Born June 6, 1907 in Craigesville, Va., Mrs. Montero was the daughter of the late Pearl Rosie Walton. She was of the Methodist faith. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd Halterman and Manuel Montero; two sons, James E. Halterman and Alfred Walton; two daughters, Eva Rexrode and Verona Mae Sleboda; and three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Rosa L. Burker of Baltimore, Md.; three sons, Douglas L. Halterman of Richmond, Lloyd Halterman Jr. of Needmore, Pa., and Frank Halterman of Baltimore. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, October 14, 2000, at 1 p.m. from the Glen Haven Memorial Park, Ritchie Highway at Glen Burnie, Md., where committal will follow. George C. Nash, age 83, passed away October 11, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen. He is survived by his daughter, Georgia Carole and his son-in-law, Ray Pollard; granddaughter, Kimberly; grandson, Brandon; and devoted friend, Ethel Cashell. He retired from Air Conditioning Suppliers and was a member of ASHRAE and RSES. A private family service will be held. Shirley "Pat" Patterson, 88, of Natchitoches, La., formerly of Richmond, died October 12, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Pauline E. Patterson; daughter, Ann P. Clingenpeel; stepson, Dr. Milton R. Eichmann; brother, Luther Patterson; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild. Howard S. Richardson, age 93, of Richmond, departed this life Friday, October 13, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel M. Richardson and is survived by his only daughter, Carol A. Richardson; one grandson, Richard Blackwell; one granddaughter, Lynda Turner and her husband, William; a great-granddaughter, Stacy Turner; two nieces, one nephew; and two beloved companions, Sweetie and Maxine. Cortlandt R. Rosebro Jr., 89, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, October 12, 2000 at Mary Washington Hospital. Born in Norfolk, Mr. Rosebro was a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College class of 1932 and the University of Pennsylvania. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by two sons, Randolph C. Rosebro of Fredericksburg, Donald J. Rosebro of McKinney, Texas; and three grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 15, 2000 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Found & Sons Funeral Home of Fredericksburg.
