The funeral for Grover V. Dudley, 82, of 304 3rd St., Martinsville, who died Friday, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens.

Eddie Otis France, 90, of Petersburg, formerly of Martinsville, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg.

George W. Metz Jr.
The funeral for George Wilbur Metz Jr., 77, of 404 Robin Ridge Road, Rocky Mount, who died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at the Veterans Medical Center in Salem, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Norris Funeral Services Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Charlie Lumpkin and the Rev. James Alsop will officiate. Burial will be in Henry Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time for the service Wednesday at Norris Funeral Services.

Metz was born in Henry County on Sept. 11, 1928, to George W. Metz and Elsie Thomasson Metz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Inez Miller and Julia Metz; and a brother, Ralph Metz.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Bassett American Legion Post 11.
Metz was a longtime farmer and a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau of which he had held various office positions. He also was a member of the Farm Service Agency of Henry and Franklin County.
He was a member of the Franklin County Planning Commission, a charter member of the Oak Level Ruritan Club, a member of the Fork Mountain Fire Department and a member of Oak Level Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Betty M. Metz of the home; one sister, Elsie Metz Young of Oak Level; a brother, John Metz of Oak Level; and several nieces and nephews.
Erma H. Minter
Erma Louise Haynes Minter, 60, of Blue Ridge Court, Rocky Mount, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at her home.
She was born in Martinsville on Nov. 11, 1945, to Russell R. Haynes Sr. of Mount Gilead, Ohio and Louise Graves Haynes of Martinsville.
She graduated from Martinsville High School and was employed as a legal assistant by Daniel L. Crandall and Associates, Attorneys and Counselors at Law.
She was a member of Blue Ridge gospel Tabernacle in Rocky Mount.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Lewis E. Minter of the home; one daughter, Tammie Martin of Belleville, Ill.; two sisters, Vivian Haynes Mosher of Cardington, Ohio, and Margaret Haynes Nagle of Morehead City, N.C.; four brothers, Lowell Haynes of Ridgeway, Russell Haynes Jr. of Ohio, Taylor Haynes of Pinehurst, N.C. and M. John Haynes of Jamestown, N.C.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McKee-Stone Funeral Services with Pastor Philip M. Crandall and Apostle Joseph Crandall officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at McKee-Stone Funeral Services from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, and other times at the home of Louise Haynes, 1025 Askin St., Martinsville.

James L. Perdue
James L. Perdue, 67, of Bowling Drive, Patrick Springs, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at the Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville.
He was born in Henry County on July 16, 1938, to Theodore Alfonza Perdue and Dovie Zieglar Perdue Frye. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Mae Moore.
He retired after working at several furniture industries, and became self-employed as a carpenter and painter. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Eva Thomas Perdue of the home; a daughter, Eva Lynn Goad of Stuart; two sons, James Daniel Perdue of Stuart and Kenneth Wayne Perdue of Patrick Springs; a brother, Dewey Lee Perdue of Bassett; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Spencer-Shough Family Cemetery. Elder Kenneth Hopkins will officiate.

Naomi K. Robertson
Naomi Kallam Robertson, 85, of Ridgeway, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born on May 3, 1920, in Rockingham County, to Joseph S. Kallam and Cornelie Clifton Kallam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. Robertson; a daughter, Wanda Robertson; brothers, Muncy, Roy, Mack and Joel Kallam; and sisters, Grace Martin, Fuchie Lemmons and Olie Mae Kallam
She was a homemaker, and a member of Morgan Ford Christian Church and the Horsepasture Home Demonstration Club.
Surviving are three sons, Dwight C. Robertson of Ridgeway, James D. Robertson of Martinsville and David L. Robertson of Ferrum; three daughters, Brenda Secord of Waynesboro, Gilda Compton of Axton and Betty Merchant of Ridgeway; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral home with the Rev. Ron Mateer officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Roselawn Chapel, and other times at the home of her daughter, Gilda Compton, 2863 Hobson Road, Axton.
Lewis Sigmon
M. Lewis Sigmon, 74, of Bassett, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Franklin County on May 20, 1931, to Melvin J. Sigmon and Edna Feazell Sigmon, both deceased.
He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and he was a member of Northside Baptist Church at Bassett.
Surviving are his wife, Gracie Spence Sigmon of the home; three daughters, Teresa Sigmon of Collinsville, Karen Sigmon of the home and Lea Sigmon of Harper, W.Va.; two granddaughters; two brothers, Robert Sigmon of Bassett and Charlie Sigmon of Axton; five sisters, Evelyn Dunford and Mabel Martin, both of Fieldale, Gay Thomas of Collinsville, Mae Naff of Henry and Dorothy Saul of Athens, Ga.; a stepsister, Louise McGhee of Bassett; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Northside Baptist Church with Pastors Ron Peal and John Shelly officiating. Burial will be in Blackberry Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Robert Wingfield Sr.
The funeral for Robert Wayne Wingfield Sr., 63, of Collinsville, who died Nov. 23, 2005, was held Monday at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Daryl Martin presiding. Burial was in Henry Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were John Hawkins, James Foley, Jimmy Griffin, Anthony Brim and Joseph Stewart.
Melvin B. Carter
The funeral for Melvin Burke Carter, 66, of 131 Sellers St., Martinsville, who died Nov. 27, 2005, at his home, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Hairston Funeral Home with Bishop J.C. Richardson Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens.
Carter was born in Martinsville on July 18, 1939, to Mary Catherine
Carter and John Willie Carter. He was preceded in death by his father.
He graduated from Albert Harris High School, attended Kentucky State College and New York State University. He was a veteran of the Army and worked at Goodyear Tire for 20 years.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are three sisters, Linda C. Faulkner, Deborah J.
Carter and LaVerne Carter, all of Martinsville; and a brother, William
Carter of Martinsville.
