Diane Elizabeth Parks, 53, of 9953 Friend Ave., Chesterfield, Va. went home to the Lord Saturday, February 24, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Melanie Denise Mason Powell; son-in-law, Demont L. Powell; two grandchildren, Tamera Regina and Demont Lacue II; a sister, Edna C. Edmonds; a nephew, Kevin Parks; a niece-in-law, Barbara Parks; and grandnephew, Marques Parks. Richard F. Payne, of Hadensville, Va., died February 25, 2001. Survived by his wife, Bertha W. Payne; three sons and their wives, Lee and Sharon, Curman and Christie Payne, both of Hadensville, Va., and William and Janet of Mechanicsville; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Kristin, Ashley, Emily, Morgan, Holly, and Bethany; four brothers, Martin, Marvin, Ernest, and Elvin Payne; three sisters, May Sorell, Nancy Hodges, and Joyce Ann Barden. Florence Medlin Pearson, 83, of Richmond, died February 25, 2001. She was the widow of Otis B. Pearson and was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles L. Fleming Jr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte P. and Charles L. Fleming Sr.; sisters, Helen O. Kidd, Ida L. Crawley, Willie B. Rowbottom and Dozine J. Saunders; brothers, Wilbur W. and Forest C. Medlin Jr.; grandchildren, Theresa Gillum and her husband, Ron, and Jeff Fleming; granddaughter-in-law, Diane Fleming; great-granddaughter, Meagan Fleming; stepgrandsons, Charles and Jeffrey Tanner. Miss Gracie Pearl Vandervall, age 103, formerly of Quioccasin Neighborhood, died February 24, 2001 in University Park Nursing Home. Surviving are six nephews, Phillip and Herbert Jackson, Ulysses and Thomas Vandervall, Welford Burrell and Lester Norrell; six nieces, Bernice Talley, Jean Carter, Adelaide Warren, Mable Jackson, Marian Scott and Anita Washington; host of great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Marlowe of New Jersey, Lowell Bland Marlowe of Sandston, Catherine Marie Turner of Chesapeake, Betty Ann Palmore of Highland Springs and Susie Mitchell Hudson of Chester; devoted grandsons; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who dearly loved her. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Joe Marlow of Richmond. She was the center of her family and loved by all who knew her. Mittie Alena Wilson, a resident of The Hermitage for 28 years, formerly of Petersburg, Va., passed away February 26, 2001, at The Hermitage in Richmond. She is survived by her brother, the Rev. Lewis Allen Wilson Jr.; and three nephews, David Allen Wilson, Dwight Lyman Wilson, Robert Grant Wilson of Ohio; and one niece, Susan Carol Rude of Massachusetts. Miss Wilson attended Longwood State College, University of Virginia and Madison College. She was an elementary teacher for 37 and a half years, primarily in Petersburg. Miss Wilson was a lifelong United Methodist. She loved The Hermitage and enthusiastically supported its work. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 1, 2001, 3 p.m. in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. A memorial service will be held in The Hermitage Chapel, 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2001. Mr. James Franklin Wright Jr., age 39, son of the late James Franklin Wright Sr., died February 24, 2001. He was a member of Ridge Baptist Church. He is survived by his beloved children, Rebecca L. Lottie Sykes Beasley, 85, of Chesterfield, died November 7, 2001. A member of Kingsland Baptist Church, Lottie's life was spent serving the Lord that she loved so much and caring for her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She will truly be missed by all. Preceded in death by her husband, Duncan Steele Beasley Sr., she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Duncan Steele Beasley Jr. and Trish; three grandsons, Scott, Greg and Kevin Beasley; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Albert Sykes. Martha Tilman Boelt died November 8, 2001 after a long illness. She was married to the late Clemens E. Boelt Sr. and she was registrar at the Valentine Museum in Richmond for 14 years before her retirement in 1975.
