Lenora G. Gill, of South Hill, died July 18, 2001. Survived by a daughter, Linda Gill of Bracey; a son, H. Dr. Tianjue Gu, 78, of Richmond, died Sunday, July 15, 2001. Dr. Gu was a very well known biochemist in China. His passions consisted of research and teaching. In his career as a professor, Dr. Gu has published over 80 papers and mentored 21 Ph.D. students and 15 masters students. He is survived by his wife, Jingui Jiang; four children, Xinjia, Xinyi, Xinbin, Xintin and all of their family members. The remains rest at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street, Glen Allen where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. William S. (Bill) Hall, Jr., 61, of Midlothian passed away July 17, 2001. He is survived by his wife Kathryn L. Hall; father, William S. Hall, Sr.; sons, Barry Hall, and Brian Hall and his wife, Tara; sister, Bobbie Bultje; granddaughter, Madison Hall. Bill was an avid baseball fan. He was loved by all he knew and met and will be greatly missed. Alice Yeadon Haupl of Petersburg died Wednesday, July 18, 2001. Originally of Yorkshire, England, she was the youngest daughter of William Henry and Minnie Mawson Yeadon. She served in the Royal British Air Force during WWII, where she met her future husband, LTC (ret) John Haupl. They were happily married for 54 years. In addition to her devoted husband, she leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Christiane
Powell (George) of Charlotte, N.C. and Stephanie Keck (Berkeley) of Midlothian, Va. She is also survived by five grandchildren, George, Allison, Jonathan, Phillip and Christopher; and two great-grandchildren, Addison and Jacob. A memorial service, followed by reception, will be held at the Memorial Chapel, Ft. Lee, Va. on Friday, July 20 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association or the charitable organization of your choosing. HOBSON
Raleigh Colston Hobson, 90, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Beth Sholom Home in Henrico County. Mr. Hobson was educated at St. Christopher's School,
Williams College, and the Richmond Professional Institute. He served as Superintendent of the Richmond Social Services Bureau from 1940 to 1943 and then in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1950 he was appointed Director of Public Welfare for the City of Richmond and served until 1963 when he accepted the job of director of Maryland's State Department of Social Services. Later he worked with the Federal Supplementary Security Income program, returning to Richmond after his retirement in 1978. Mr. Hobson was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Wood Hobson of Richmond, his oldest son, Raleigh C. Hobson, Jr., also of Richmond, and a daughter by an earlier marriage, Elizabeth Hobson Congdon, of Bennington, Vermont. He is survived by his sister, Annie Leigh Hobson Broughton of Charleston, South Carolina; his son, William Gray Hobson of Palmdale, California; his daughter-in-law Lynn Riley Hobson of Richmond; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held in Hollywood Cemetery on Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Christopher's School, 801 Henri Road, Richmond, Va. 23226.

Virginia Lee Corsa Howell, of Monroe, Wis., formerly of Reedville, widow of Harry W. Howell, died July 18, 2001 in Wisconsin. Surviving are a daughter, Jeanne Leuenberger of Wisconsin; two granddaughters, four great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, one great-great-grandson; three sisters, Madelyn C. Davis of Arlington, Frances C. Stine of Tequesta, Fla., Charlotte C. Haynie of Reedville; a brother, Carl D. Corsa of Ophelia. Pastor Roger W. Jarrell, age 67, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 19, 2001. He was a pastor for 46 years, being at the Manchester Baptist Church for the last 13 years. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Coleman Jarrell; children, Connie Vaughn and her husband, Daniel, Jeffrey Jarrell and his wife, Nancy, Daniel Jarrell and his wife, Tricia, Terri Jarrell; grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Zachary, Jasmine, Tiffanie, Steffanie and Daniel Jr. Jarrell, Natalie, Andrew, and Adrian Vaughn; brother, Graham Jarrell and his wife, Terasa; father-in-law, Clyde J. Coleman Sr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerome A. Kennedy was born May 19, 1956 in Richmond, Virginia to Avis G. Kennedy and the late Isreal Kennedy. He departed this life on Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond. He is preceded in death by his father, Isreal Kennedy; and brothers, Isreal J. Kennedy Jr. and Bruce W. Kennedy. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 20 years, Darlene Young Kennedy; two sons, Jerome A. Kennedy Jr. and Marcus J. Kennedy; one step-daughter, LaVon R. Hardy; his mother, Avis G. Kennedy; four brothers, Michael E. Kennedy, Leon D. Kennedy, Warren A. Kennedy and Edward M. Kennedy; one grandson, Terell Williams; two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, father-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring after 19 1/2 years, and was employed by URS/VDOHT/Smart Traffic Center. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Christ Church, 39 Joynes Road, Hampton, with Suff Bishop Robert A. Baker presiding.
