CAVIN
Mary W. Cavin, 91, widow of O. Fred Cavin, died Saturday, September 30, 2000. She is survived by four nieces, Patricia W. Burcher and her husband, Robert W. Burcher, Mary W. Thompson and her husband, Edward C. Thompson, Betty W. Bootier and her husband, Frank Bootier and Carole Williamson; and a nephew, F. Meade Williamson and his wife, Margaret Williamson. Her remains rest at the Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, 3 p.m. in Westhampton Memorial Park.
CONNER
Eugene O. Conner, 75, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on October 1, 2000 after a long and valiant battle against cancer. As a U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Conner participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy during WWII. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Whitlow Conner; daughters, Iris C. Esenberg and Jeanne C. Hensel; son, David Eugene Conner; sister, Ethel C. Giles; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). His funeral service will be held at the Beulah United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Dale Memorial Park. FORD
Earl Edward Ford Sr., age 81, of Chesterfield, departed this life suddenly on Sunday, October 1, 2000. He passed away quietly in the loving presence of his family and the spiritual comfort of God’s love. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Elna Brock Ford; and his parents, Ishman Allen Ford and Lola Hendricks Ford. Mr. Ford is survived by his brother, William "Jack" Ford; three sons, Earl E. Ford Jr., Rev. Russell Ford, and Rev. Richard Ford; one daughter, Audrey Ford Cash; one son-in-law, Ray Cash; three daughters-in-law, Sue Ford, Teresa Ford and Sandy Ford; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Ford was a loving husband, father and grandfather; a man devoted to his family. A man of quiet strength and solid integrity, he was the rock upon which his family stood and remains the example they aspire to be. A faithful servant of the Lord, Mr. Ford was a founding member of Manchester Baptist Church and a longtime deacon of the church. A veteran of World War II, he served in the 148th Engineer Combat Battalion, attached to the 3rd Army throughout the major campaigns in Europe. He was a brickmason by trade and a lifelong union member. Mr. Ford’s earthly remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where the funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by interment in Dale Memorial Park.
GARNETT
George Wilson Garnett, age 75, of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, September 30, 2000. He was retired from the State Fair of Virginia, where he worked for 42 years, making many friends and will be greatly missed. His oldest daughter, Rebecca Watach predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Duncan Garnett; his daughter, Terri and her husband, Danny L. Phillips; his son-in-law, John H. Watach; two granddaughters, Monica and her husband, Linwood Burrow and Elizabeth Watach; and four great-grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Holly and Julie. Other survivors include sisters, Emma Sawyer, Dorothy Putze, Jane Martin, Elizabeth and her husband, Julian Whipple, Shirley and her husband, Thomas Carter; one brother, James Carrington Garnett and his wife, Fran; one sister-in-law, Mary Warren; six nephews, four nieces and many grand-nieces and nephews. His remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends Monday, October 2, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at 2 p.m. Interment in Signal Hill Memorial Park.
GINN
Nancy Allen Ginn, 62, of Caret, a retired controller with 18 years of service with the American Lung Association, died Sunday, October 1, 2000. She was an active member of Upper Essex Baptist Church, and was the daughter of the late Lenwood and Ellen Allen. Survived by her husband, Robert "Jimmy" Ginn; two sons, Rodney Allen Ginn of Mechanicsville, and Randal Joseph Ginn of Tappahannock; one sister, Phyllis A. Hanzlik and her husband, Lewis of Prince George; one brother, Stuart L. Allen also of Prince George; and a special friend, Mary Ann Hancock. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Interment Upper Essex Baptist Church Cemetery, Caret. HARVEY
William Campbell Harvey, 76, of Kents Store, passed away suddenly September 29, 2000 at his home. He was born January 9, 1924 in Fluvanna County, son of Dora Y. Harvey and the late Dennis F. Harvey. Campbell was retired from Medical College of Virginia, V.C.U. as purchasing agent. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 8th U.S. Air Force in England, was a member of Cabell Lodge No. 328 A.F.& A.M. and a member of Byrd Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his mother; his twin brother, Warren F. Harvey of Charlottesville; two sisters, Geraldine H. Richardson of Kents Store and Gloria H. King of Palmyra; three nephews and one niece. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 2 at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Jim Thornton. Lillian L. Jennings of Richmond, died Sunday, October 1, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Frances K. Allen; son, W.D. Jennings; her sister, Kathleen H. Larsen; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. MACRINA
Frank L. Macrina Sr., 86, died Saturday, September 30, 2000 at the McGuire’s Veteran Administration Medical Center in Richmond. He had been a resident of Hodge’s Manor in Richmond since 1997. Prior to that, he was a lifetime resident of Herkimer, N.Y. He was a U.S. Army veteran, who fought in the Normandy Campaign and was wounded in action during the Battle of the Argentan-Falaise Gap. He achieved the rank of Private First Class and received decorations, including a Purple Heart, two Battle Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and the American Red Cross Boxing Award. He was honorably discharged on February 10, 1945. During 1932 through 1936, he was a professional prize fighter. He won 16 of 20 professional bouts and was the sparring partner of world lightweight champion, Lou Ambers, a boxing Hall of Fame inductee. He is survived by one son, Dr. Francis L. Macrina Jr. and wife, Mary Young Macrina of Richmond; two daughters, Sharon and Denise Macrina of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren, Laurel Macrina Moore and husband, Michael Moore and Francis L. Macrina III of Richmond; two brothers, Nick and Ezzio Macrina; and one sister, Clara Perruccio, all of Herkimer. His wife of forty years, Agnes, died in 1985; and his twin brother, John, died in 1984. He was a communicant of the Church of the Epiphany in Richmond. Funeral services will be held on October 7 in Herkimer, N.Y.

Doris Lee Childress Marks of Richmond, died Friday, September 29, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Ernest M. Marks; a daughter, Carolyn Marks; a son-in-law, Gary Ford; two granddaughters, Nicole and Beth Ford; four sisters, Lucille Frye, Virdie Regensburg, Erma Taylor and Hazel Childress; a special friend, Pam Sears Kilgore, whom she thought of as a daughter; two nieces and three nephews. Mrs. Marks was a member of Skipwith United Methodist Church. Katherine Eltinge Fensom Moss, a lifelong resident of Richmond, Va., departed this life Sunday, October 1, 2000 at Riverside Convalescent Center, Smithfield, Va. She was the last surviving child of William Rowe Fensom and Blanche Ardell Fensom. She is survived by her son, Howard T. Moss; daughter-in-law, Susan G. Moss; and her brother-in-law, Herndon Lee Pemberton. Mrs. Moss was a retired employee of the C.F. Sauer Co. in Richmond. Russell Parrish, 84, of Goochland, Va., retired Army veteran, departed this life September 30, 2000 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was preceded in death by his dedicated wife, Gracie. He is survived by four stepsons, Rodney Parrish, Lewis, William, and Augustus Rogers; three brothers, Andrew, Herbert and Curtis Parrish; three sisters, Gertrude Clayton, Katie Maston and Pearl Randolph; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Walter (Odell) Pugh, 80, of Charles City, went to be with the Lord Friday, September 29, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marion Lee Pugh; his son, Ronald O. and his wife, Susan Pugh; his daughters, Carolyn P. Whitfield, Sharon L. and her husband, Ken Hicks, L. Diane and her husband, Robert Sams, Judith P. Adkins and Candi L. and her husband, Bradley Briggs; his sisters, Ethel Lane, Edna Guiliani and Bessy Phelps; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mr. Pugh was a WW II Army veteran.
