Valle, Katherine Andrea
VIRGINIA BEACH - Katherine Andrea Duncan Valle, 41, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many.
She departed this life to rest in God's hands June 7, 2002 after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.
Born in Norfolk she was the daughter of her loving parents, George and Juanita Duncan.
Andrea had worked for J. B. Robinson Jewelers and Kay Jewelers for more than 20 years as a manager in their stores.
Other survivors include her devoted sister, Chrissie Arocho and her husband, Jose and her most treasured nephew, Jose, Jr. all of Virginia Beach.
Andrea touched lives of many with her vibrant personality, her sunshine smile and her desire to help others.
She leaves her beautiful memory to her grandmother, Ellen Duncan, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and her mentor Dr. W. Emmett M. Diggs.
A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 p.m. tonight, June 9, 2002 in Faith Wesleyan Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Duncan and family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the love and support of the many friends, doctors, and nurses at M.C.V. Richmond and Sentara Bayside Hospital this past year.

Vaiden, Esther Brooks
Esther Brooks Vaiden, 94 of Dinwiddie died on Monday, February 17, 2003 in Southside Regional Medical center, Petersburg.
She was born in Virginia and was the daughter of the late, Royal R. and Cedelia E. Borum Brooks.
Mrs. Vaiden was a member of Matoaca Baptist church.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Ellis Vaiden Sr.
She is survived by a daughter and son in-law, Judy and Robert "Bob" Fletcher of Richmond.
A son and daughter in-law, John E. and Shirley Vaiden of Chesterfield.
Three grandchildren, Patti Watkins, Vicki Tomko and C. Hart Fuller.
Two great grandchildren, Zack Fuller and Briana Tomko.
Two brothers and sister in-laws, Stanley and Katherine Brooks, Lawrence and Pearl Brooks.
Also survived by special caregivers, Alice Croft, Donna King and Marie Tench.
A funeral service will be Friday 11 am in the Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights with the Rev. Donald R. Joyner and Rev. R. Roland Powell. Officiating.
Burial to follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-8:30 P.M. at the funeral home.

Valenta, Anthony T.
Anthony T. "Tommy" Valenta, 50 of Dinwiddie died Monday, December 13, 2004 at his residence.
He was a native of Dinwiddie and the son of the late Tony W. Valenta.
Mr. Valenta was a member and usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the sons of the American Legion Post #2 and the Knights of Columbus, Petersburg Council #694.
He was a former employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco.
He is survived by his mother, Christine Ann Blaha Valenta, sisters, Catherine Ann Valenta, Joan Marie Harrington, Vera Valenta Ellison all of Dinwiddie, Patricia Valenta Davis of Colonial Heights and a brother, James Albert Valenta of Dinwiddie, two nieces, Julia Rene Ellison and Christina Elizabeth Davis, a nephew, Anthony Eugene Davis, numerous aunts, uncles cousins and friends.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, December 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m in St. Joseph Catholic Church; Father Robert Spencer will serve as celebrant.
The interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Petersburg.
A Christian Wake will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Rd., visitation will follow.

Vairo, Barbara Ann Wynn
Barbara "Ann" Wynn Vairo, 73, of Matoaca, died on Sunday, March 7, 2004, in Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.
A native of Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Archer P., Sr., and Erdean Tatum Wynn.
She was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church.
Mrs. Vairo is survived by her husband, Lawrence C. Vairo; daughter, Debra Vairo of Matoaca; two sons, Louis Anthony "Tony" Vairo and wife, Melinda, John Phillip Vairo and wife, Shelly, all of Matoaca; five grandchildren, Lisa, Angie, Louis, Kendal, and Mackenzie; three great-grandchildren, Julia, William, and Nathaniel; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Matoaca Baptist Church.
Reverend Donald Joyner and Reverend R. Roland Powell will officiate.
Interment will follow in East Matoaca Cemetery.

Wade, Myrtle B.
Myrtle B. Wade, 81, of Chesterfield, died Monday, February 03, 2003 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.
A native of Chesterfield, she was the daughter of the late Wesley Edward and Mary Butler.
Mrs. Wade was retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company.
Mrs. Wade is survived by her son, Joseph R. Perkinson and his wife, Mary, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, Colonial Heights, with Rev. R. Roland Powell officiating.
Interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 5, 2003 from 7 until 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
Wagner, John Edward
John Edward Wagner, 76 of Greenbackville, VA, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Margaret Wagner.
Mr. Wagner was a U.S. Navy veteran. He lived most of his life in Salisbury, he was now living in DeBary, FL and Captains Cove in Greenbackville, Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Joan L. Madden Wagner; two sons: John E. Wagner Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Minneapolis, MN and Jeffrey David Wagner of Seattle, WA; and grandchildren: Chelsea, Katie and Eric Wagner.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 2 PM at Holloway Funeral Home.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
The Rev. Glenn Catley will officiate.
Interment will be in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.

Yancey, Margaret Rutherford
Margaret Rutherford Yancey, 95, of Disputanta, VA., widow of the late Clyde Walton (C.W.) Yancey, died Thursday June 20, 2002 at the Mayfair House in Petersburg.
Nieces and nephews of her and her late husband's family survive her.
She is the daughter of the late William Samuel Rutherford and the late Sallie Anne Carter Rutherford of Goochland County.
In August 1929, she graduated from State Teachers College in Farmville (now Longwood College) with a Diploma in Kindergarten-Primary Education.
She became a schoolteacher and taught in Goochland and Prince George Counties.
At one time, she taught seven grades in a one room school.
She was beloved by her students, many of whom continued to contact her from time to time.
She and her late husband have made significant charitable gifts to the Southeastern 4-H Educational Center, Wakefield, VA., including the donation of several buildings at the center.
She and her late husband were long-time members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Disputanta.
She is well known for her kindness to others and is much loved by her family and friends in her community and church.
Remains rest at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, where the funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2002, the Rev. Burton White will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park, Patterson Av. and Gaskins Rd., Richmond.

Yarborough, Jeannette Prokofieff Romanov
Grand Duchess Jeannette Prokofieff Romanov Yarborough, daughter of Leona Victoria Ackerman and Grand Duke Victor Maxim Prokofieff Romanov who was the son of Czar Alexander, II of Russia and Dr. Marie Vereschagen Prokofieff, died Thursday, July 7, 2005 at her residence.
She was the widow of Walter Dance Yarborough, Sr.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Leona Y. and Michael Hawkins of Petersburg; four grandchildren, Trey Whitman and Cara, Dakota and Cheyenne Hawkins; two sisters, June P. Hawkins of Alexandria, VA and Camilla P. Burkette of Florida; a nephew, Robert T. Jones, Jr. of Richmond and three great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. in the Petersburg Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 South Crater Road.
Father Robert Spencer will officiate.
Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg.

Abbott, Rev. Emerson
The Reverend Emerson M. Abbott, 80, a retired minister of Roanoke, Virginia, and formerly of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2007.
After a valiant battle for several years, Reverend Abbott, a great preacher, pastor, and Christian Leader with the Church of God, succumbed to congestive heart and renal failure.
Emerson Marcellus Abbott was born December 2, 1926 in Cambridge, Maryland, the son of the late Reverend Clarence J., Sr. and Lola Abbott of Bridgeville, Delaware.
After serving as Radioman for the Coast Guard in World War II, he married his childhood sweetheart, Kathryn Dize, who graduated from Crisfield High School Class of'43.
They began their fu1l-time ministry for the Church of God, with pastorates in Phoenix (Jacksonville) and Ft. Mead (Odenton), Maryland.
Their leadership has been far-reaching---with pastorates in Parshall, North Dakota; Baltimore, Maryland; Milford, Delaware; and, Alexandria and Pulaski, Virginia.
In addition to his appointments to Indiana and the DelMarVa Peninsula, as the State Christian Education and Youth
Director, Reverend Abbott was appointed Administrative Bishop for the states of Northern New England, Missouri, Michigan and Tennessee.
He has served on several national committees for the Church of God, including State Councils, the General Radio and Television Board, the General Publications Board, and the General Study Task Force.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Dize Abbott of Roanoke and formerly of Crisfield; their two daughters, Sharon and Reid Morgan of Greer, South Carolina and Michelle and Mark Tozier of Roanoke, Virginia; two granddaughters, Kathryn Aprille Morgan and Matthew Tobey of Salem, Virginia, and Adrianna Rose Tozier of Roanoke, Virginia; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Elyse Tobey of Salem, Virginia; four sisters, Elizabeth and Edwin Tull of Harrington, Delaware, Emily Cook of Kokomo, Indiana, Etta Hastings of Laurel, Delaware, and Delma Bowden of Laurel, Delaware; six brothers, Clarence, Jr., of Crisfield, Fred and Nell of Salisbury, Samuel and Shirley of Cleveland, Tennessee, Lloyd and Doris of Bedford, Pennsylvania, Bill and Jan of Atlantic, Virginia, and David and Linda of Phoenix, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Norma Caldwell of Pocomoke City.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Crisfield Church of God on Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.
The Reverend Dr. Michael Baker and the Reverends Philip Morris and Harold Bowman will officiate.
A viewing will be held at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield on Friday, April 6, 2007 from 6-9 PM.
Interment with military honors will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
