Ann D. Smith
Ann Dollins Smith, 70, of Gordonsville, died Monday, July 10, 2006 at the Culpeper Health Care Center.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Alan Acree, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13 at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel, Gordonsville. Interment will be in the Mechanicsville Baptist Church cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Alice Smith Broyles and her husband, Chuck, of Brightwood; a son, John Christopher “Johnny” Smith and his wife, Karen, of Scottsville; and two grandchildren, Rebekah Marie Broyles of Brightwood and Jennifer Lorraine Smith of Scottsville.
Mrs. Smith was born December 3, 1935 in Newport News, the daughter of the late Henry Webster “Buck” Dollins and Vivian Russell Broadwell Dollins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Critten Smith; and her grandson, Zachary James Broyles.
She was a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church, Gordonsville.

Dorothy V. Hall
Dorothy Virginia Hall, 76, of Bumpass, died Friday, July 28, 2006.
Graveside services, conducted by Pastor David Boston, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 31 at Spring Grove Memorial Park, Mineral.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Stuart E. Hall Sr.; six children, Roy Lee Luck of Bumpass, Herman Warren Luck of Richmond, James “Bill” William Luck of Bumpass, Charles Wesley Luck of Richmond, Stuart “Curly” E. Hall Jr. of Bumpass and Dottie Waugh and her husband, Festus, of Bumpass; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hall was born August 31, 1929, the daughter of the late James G. and Daisy Edwards Butler.
She was a homemaker.

Ivonne R. Hernandez
Ivonne Aida Rivera Hern-andez, 62, of Louisa, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Hospice of the Piedmont.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mineral.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Julio Hernandez Jr.; five sons, Bernardo Hernandez and his wife, Daisy, of Stuart, Ricardo Hernandez and his wife, Pamela, of Gordonsville, Julio Hernandez and his wife, Nicole, of Waynesboro, Charles Hernandez of Charlottesville and Pedro Hernandez of Charlottesville; seven grandchildren, Heather Nunnally, Gabriel Hernandez, Ramon Hernandez, Jonah Hernandez, Molly Hernandez, Anna Hernandez and Javier Hernandez; a brother, Hector Rivera Correa of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a sister, Mirtelina Rivera Correa of Long Island, New York.
Mrs. Hernandez was born February 6, 1944 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Pedro Rivera Cabrera and Marie Magdalena Correa.

Ruth H. Jaeger
Ruth Helene Jaeger, 90, of Crofton, Maryland, formerly of Louisa, died Thursday, July 20, 2006.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23 at Arlington National cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce J. Dail of Crofton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jaeger was born April 26, 1916 in Edwardsville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Edward and Elsbeth Plassman Fresen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Jaeger (Cmdr. USN Ret.); a son, Robert E. Jaeger; and a brother, Edward Fresen.
She attended Elmhurst College and the University of Illinois where she earned her bachelor of arts degree.
She was a homemaker and a member of Louisa United Methodist Church.

Lawrence Mason Payne, 56, of Louisa, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006.
Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Jerry Hall and the Rev. Robert Haley, were held Sunday, July 30 at Mineral Baptist Church. Interment was at Spring Grove Memorial cemetery, Mineral.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Walton Payne; a daughter, Angela Payne Spears of Fredericksburg; a son, Jacob Walton Payne of Louisa; two grandsons, Dylan and Hunter Spears; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Payne was the son of the late Russell A. Payne and Thelma Seay Payne. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Warren A. Payne.

Helen L. Richardson
Helen Lovetta Moore Richardson, 81, of Chesterfield, died Saturday, July 22, 2006.
She will be interred with her husband at Arlington National cemetery.
She is survived by a son, Randall Moore Richardson and his wife, Isabel, of Mineral; a daughter, Rhonda L. Richardson of Portland, Oregon; a son, W. Reid Richardson Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Powhatan; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Richardson was born August 15, 1924 in Harrisonburg, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Wallace Reid Richardson Sr.; and a daughter, Morgan Jean Richardson of Coeur d’Alene, Indiana.
She and her husband lived at Lake Anna for a number of years.

Daniel W. Shifflett
Daniel “Danny” Wayne Shifflett, 57, of Louisa, died Sunday, July 30, 2006.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 3 at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa. Interment will be in Hillcrest cemetery, Louisa.
He is survived by his parents, Pettie Shifflett and Louise Shifflett; two brothers; one sister; a granddaughter; and a number of cousins and close friends.
Mr. Shifflett was born November 17, 1948 in Louisa.
He lived and worked in Louisa all his life.
Alma T. Berry
Alma Lucille Talley Berry, 85, of Louisa County, died Monday, August 7, 2006.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 9 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home. Interment was in Washington Memorial Park.
She is survived by four sons, Howard W. “Sonny” Berry and his wife, Betty, Wayne A. Berry and his wife, Helen, Lawrence P. “Pete” Berry Jr. and his wife, Debra, and Charles S. Berry and his wife, Nancy; two sisters, Mabel Wuckovich and Maybelle Moore; a sister-in-law, Reba Talley; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Pate Berry Sr.

Alice Ann Dillon, 51, of Lake Monticello, died Thursday, August 3, 2006.

James W. Pleasants
James Ware Pleasants, 77, of Mineral, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at his residence.
Graveside services, conducted by Pastor Mike Durham, were held Friday, July 28 at Hillcrest cemetery, Louisa.
He is survived by his brothers, John T. Pleasants of Fredericks Hall and Edward A. Pleasants of Richmond.
Mr. Pleasants was born November 29, 1928, the son of the late John T. and Merle Moss Pleasants. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Rosson Pleasants.
He served in the United States Marine Corps between the years of 1946 through 1951.
He was elected in 1994 the Board of Supervisors representing the Mineral District and in 1997 was elected vice chairman on the board.
Prior to serving on the board, he was the Mineral district planner for four years. He was vice-chairman of the Louisa County Planning Commission for two years during his term. He was also the board’s liasion to the commission.
Mr. Pleasants was recognized by the Virginia Certified Planning Commissioners’ Program and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University for his completion of their programs and graduate seminars.
He also served on the Board of Zoning committee.
