Freddie E. Marshall Jr.
Rev. Freddie Earl Marshall Jr., 39, of Grandview, Missouri, died Saturday, January 1, 2005 at St. Joseph Health Center.
Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 7 at South Haven Baptist Church, Belton, Missouri, and at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 12 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Hampton. Interment was private at South Anna Baptist Church cemetery, Mineral.
He is survived by his wife, Maryann; five sons, Michael, Joshua, Caleb, Daniel and Benjamin; three daughters, Maribeth, Rebekah and Leah; his father, Freddie Earl Marshall Sr. of Mobile, Alabama; and two brothers, Kelley Marshall of Richmond and Timothy Marshall of Mobile, Alabama.
Rev. Marshall was born July 7, 1965 in Hampton, where he lived most of his life before moving to the Kansas City area in 2002.
He was licensed to the Gospel ministry at South Anna Baptist Church. He was pastor of Belvedere Heights Baptist Church and had previously served as pastor of churches in the centeral Virginia area as well as eastern Virginia and North Carolina.

Olive S. Mundy
Olive Snyder Mundy, 98, of Gordonsville, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at the Orange County Nursing Home.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. James Thornton, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 8 at Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store. Interment was in the cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Daisy Ripchick of Knoxville, Iowa, Ruth Lindsay and her husband, Ronald J., of Orange, Charles Arnold Mundy Jr. and his wife, Mary Lou, of Gordonsville, and George “Buzzy” Mundy and his wife, Mary, of Charlottesville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Mrs. Mundy was born March 14, 1906 in Alice, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John Martin Snyder and Daisy Shaffer Snyder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arnold Mundy Sr.; three brothers; and a sister.
She grew up in Kents Store and was employed at the American Silk Mill in Orange from 1930 until her retirement in 1968.
She was a lifelong member of Byrd Chapel Methodist Church, Kents Store, and attended Forest Hill Baptist Church near Gordonsville.
Frank L. Shelton
Frank Lloyd Shelton, 80, of Kents Store, died Friday, January 7, 2004.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 12 at Galilee Baptist Church, Louisa.
He is survived by a son, Lloyd C. Shelton of Montana; two daughters, Pamala M. Shelton of Kents Store and Rebecca S. Askew of Chesterfield; a stepson, Kim L. Bradshaw of Louisville, Kentucky; stepdaughter, Tracy L. Bradshaw of Mineral; a brother, Lewis Shelton of Kents Store; a sister, Dorothy Shelton of Fredericksburg; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shelton was the son of the late James and Alice Irving Shelton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Samuel Shelton, James Shelton, Charlie Shelton, Casi Shelton and Arthur Shelton; and his sister, Pameila Shelton.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked in farm work, construction and for VEPCO.

Mavis B. Southworth
Mavis Louise Black Southworth, 87, of Palmyra, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 in Charlottesville.
Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Emerson Shelton, were held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 7 at Westhampton Memorial Park, Richmond.
She is survived by a son, Henry Lee Southworth and his wife, Judith, of Palmyra; two granddaughters, Laurie S. Thompson and her husband, Daniel, of Fork Union, and Andrea Southworth and her husband, Jason Weiss, of Mount Airy, Maryland; and three great-grandchildren, Anne Elizabeth and William Henry Thompson of Fork Union and Virginia Elaine Weiss of Mount Airy, Maryland.
Mrs. Southworth was born September 13, 1917 in Fluvanna County, the daughter of the late Everette and Mary Johnson Black. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Taylor Southworth; and a sister, Gene Black.
She was a member of Cunning-ham United Methodist Church and a retired sale person with Miller & Rhoads in Richmond.

Doriane Yancey
Doriane Yancey, 46, of Mineral, died Wednesday, January 6, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Frederick Sales, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 9 at Rising Sun Baptist Church. Interment was in the Spring Grove Memorial Gardens, Mineral.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Joseph Yancey Sr.; her daughter, Kimberly Michelle; her son, Joseph Jr.; her parents, Lewis Sr. and Rose Shelton; four brothers, Lewis Shelton Jr., Roger Shelton and his wife, Patricia, James Shelton and his wife, Patrice, all of Mineral, and Allen Shelton of Louisa; two sisters, Christine Shelton of Deptford, New Jersey and Gail Lemon and her husband, Ed, of Richmond; great aunts and uncles, Loraine Jackson, Emma Shelton, Loraine Shelton, Eva Mae Anthony, Charles and Hannah Hunter, Norris Jackson and Viola Russell.
Also, she is survived by 10 uncles; 14 aunts; four brothers-in-law, Charles Houchens, Thomas Yancey and his wife, Lori, of Mineral, Robert Yancey and his wife, Joyce, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Griffin Yancey and his wife, Joy, of Richmond; six sisters-in-law, Fannie Shelton and her husband, Robert, Lucille Shelton, Shirley V. Henson, Carrie Yancey, Christine Mack and Gayle Yancey; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Yancey was born March 2, 1958.

Polly A. McBride
Polly Ann McBride went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 29, 2005. She died at the age of 77 at Avante Nursing Home in Harrisonburg.
Born October 10, 1927 at Wilmore, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy Gibson Riffe.
She was married
to Luther McBride who preceded her in death in 1980.
She was a housewife and a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of the Church of God in Elkton and lived a life dedicated to her family and, most importantly, to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Emily McBride of Elkton, Deborah Shifflett and husband Ben of Louisa; two grandchildren, Dana Painter and husband Trent of Stanley, Adam Shifflett of Louisa; one great grandchild, Ryan Painter of Stanley; one step-son, Earl McBride and wife Lorraine of Toledo, Ohio; three step-grandsons, Fred, Frank and Tom McBride; nieces and nephews, Arthur Gross of Shenandoah, Tony Gross of South Carolina, Carlas Gross and Barry Gross, both of Luray, Brenda Sickles of Colonial Heights, Darlene West of Baltimore, Maryland; one great nephew, Trever Blevins of Atkins; two brothers, Ben Riffe of Florence, South Carolina and Carl Riffe of Baltimore, Maryland; one sister, Bertha Cecil of Collinsville.
One sister, Lois Gross, preceded her in death.
Rev. Sam Sponaugle conducted the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at the Elkton Church of God. Burial was at the Evergreen cemetery in Luray.
The family received friends on Tuesday, February 1, from 7-9 p.m. at the church.

Ray C. Omohundro Jr.
Ray Compton “R.C.” Omohundro Jr., 85, of Fork Union, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the Ruxton Health Center at The Village, Fork Union.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Bill Bess and the Rev. Warren Johnson, were private.
He is survived by three daughters, Courtney Omohundro of Fork Union, Sue Omohundro and Sally Compton, both of Richmond; three grandchildren, James Ray “J.R.” Omohundro, Jennifer Leigh Whitescarver and William MatthewWhitescarver, all of Richmond; a sister, Virginia O. Purcell and her husband, Harold, of Louisa; two sisters-in-law, Ruth A. Greene of Charlottesville and Julia A. Wallace of Richmond; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Omohundro was born March 6, 1919 in Wildwood, the son of the late Ray Compton Omohundro Sr. and Maude Wood Omohundro. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Alexander Omohundro; and a brother, John Wood Omohundro.
He served 42 months in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After his tour of duty, he returned to Fork Union and continued working with his father in the family oil business. He took over in 1966 at the death of his father and remained as president and owner of R. C. Omohundro Inc. until his death.
He was the last living charter member of the Fluvanna Lions Club; a previous member of the Ruritan Club, Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Development Board and an avid member of the Fork Union Sanitary District Board, from which he resigned after 29 years of service.
Mr. Omohundro was a deacon and trustee of Fork Union Baptist Church and a member of 73 years. He was also trustee and trustee emeritus of Fork Union Military Academy.

Thyra Grinels Webb, 101, of The Meadows, Goochland, died Thursday, January 27, 2005.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 29 at Hillcrest cemetery, Louisa.
She is survived by her niece, Linda G. Irby and her husband, William; a great-niece, Carol Ann Irby; and a number of cousins.
Mrs. Webb was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Mildred C. Grinels. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David B. Webb; a sister, Edith Grinels; and a brother, John S. Grinels.
She was a member of Mineral United Methodist Church and graduated from Blackstone College for Girls.
