Margaret H. Walker
Margaret Harris Walker, 83, of Mineral, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at Heritage Hall, Charlottesville.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 4 at the Woodward Funeral Home Chapel, Louisa. Interment was in Salem Christian Church, Bumpass.
She is survived by her daughter Bettie Holford and her husband, Ralph, of Rockville, Maryland; two sons, Edward Walker and his wife, Aileen, of Gastonia, North Carolina and Jerry Walker and his wife, Debbie, of Staunton; a brother, Irvin Harris of Mineral; two sisters, Louise Daub of Paunta Gorda, Florida and Katherine Williams of Yorktown; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Walker was born August 16, 1917, the daughter of the late Jerry and Fannie Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Walker; and two sons, Billie and Nelson Walker.
Betty K. Digges
Betty Kathleen Digges, 97, of Louisa, died Thursday, January 24, 2002 at her residence.
Graveside services, conducted by Rev. Lowell Vaught, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 27 at the Bybee Road Baptist Church cemetery, Bybee.
She is survived by a sister, Frances Digges Hulley of Louisa and daughter Joan, a niece, Merry Lena Glascoe; three great-nieces, A. Marguerite Bybee, Merry Lynn Mozingo and Cheri Lynn Bennett; and a great nephew, Eric Louis Jennings.
Ms. Digges was born on February 5, 1904, in Virginia, the daughter of the late William B. and Nora S. Digges. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Willie Lewis Digges; and two sisters, Mary Lena Wright and Nora Emma Digges.
She was a member of Bybee Road Baptist Church.

Niketa Gardner
Niketa “Skeetz” Gardner, 30, of Maryland, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001.
Memorial services, conducted by Pastor John K. Jenkins Sr. and Rev. Thomas H. Sims Jr., were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 31 at First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Landover, Maryland.
He is survived by two daughters, Namesha and China; his mother, Lois Gardner of Lanham, Maryland; one brother, Michael “Tony” Nuckols and wife Pancy of Woodbridge; two half-brothers, Don and Ricky; one half-sister, Deniseone niece, Chelsea Nuckols; two great aunts and two great uncles; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Gardner was born on December 6, 1971 in Cheverly, Maryland, he was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Gardner.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden and received his education in the public schools of Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Janie R. Holley
Janie Ratcliff Holley, 66, of Charlottesville formerly, of Gordons-ville, died Thursday, January 24, 2002 in Charlottesville.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Greg Compton, were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 26 at Mechanicsville Baptist Church, Gordonsville. Interment was in Maplewood cemetery, Gordonsville.
She is survived by two sons, Glenn A. Holley of Charlottesville and Ronny Holley of Gordonsville; a brother, Gene Lester Smith of Rockville, Maryland; and a sister, Patricia A. Brown of Troy.
Ms. Holley was born on April 21, 1935, in Orange County, the daughter of the late John Ratliff and Mary Elizabeth Smith.

Randy J. Lane
Randy Jerome Lane, 43, of Louisa, died Sunday, January 27, 2002 at his residence.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Walter Jones, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thurs., Jan. 31 at County Line Baptist Church, Kents Store.
He is survived by his wife, Toby Lane; his mother, Mary Lee Butler and step-father Norman, two daughters, Tameka and Danielle; one son, Randy J. Lane Jr.; one stepson, Brandon Mickens; four sisters, Dolly Jackson and Bessie Lane, both of Culpeper, Cindy Lane of Alexandria, Elizabeth Lane of Oxon Hill, Maryland; four brothers, Ronnie Lane of Rustburg, Charles Lane and Hugh Lane, both of Culpeper, Edward Lane of Silver Spring, Maryland and Gary Robinson of Culpeper; two grandchildren and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Lane was born on November 6, 1958 and was the son of Mary and the late Charles Lane.
He was a member of Anioch Culpeper Baptist Church.

Charles D. Peoples
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2002 at Arlington National cemetery. Those wishing to attend should arrive at the administration building by 1:30 p.m. Mr. Peoples obituary appeared in the Jan. 24 issue of the Central Virginian.
William F. Russell Jr.
William F. Russell Jr., 85, of Marlow Heights, Maryland, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, February 1 at Fort Washington, Maryland.
He is survived by his sister, Louise E. Russell of Louisa; a sister-in-law, Viola Russell of Louisa; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Russell was born August 31, 1916 in the Cuckoo district of Louisa County, the son of the late William F. Russell Sr. and Mary Anderson Russell. He was also preceded in death by his wife Claudia Johnson Russell; a sister-in-law, Edith Russell; and two brothers, Robert L. Russell and Edward S. Russell.
He attended Louisa County Training School, and joined the CC Camp receiving a medal in culinary education.
He served three years with the Navy Seabees and fought at Iwo-Jima and Okinawa.
Upon his return, he was an officer for the Environmental Protection Agency for over 20 years and transferred to the Central Intelligent Agency where he served for over 10 years.
He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Mineral.
Terrell G. Smith
Terrell G. Smith, 78, of Charlottesville, formerly of Louisa, died Friday, January 25, 2002.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29 at Hillcrest cemetery, Louisa.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Louise Hottinger Smith.
Mr. Smith was a United States Army veteran and a retired landscape designer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

Lena E. Thompson of Louisa, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at the Louisa Healthcare Center, Louisa.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. George West, were held on Saturday, January 26 at First Baptist Church, Louisa.
She is survived by her brother, Charles Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia; a nephew, George Fuller of Maryland and other family and friends.
Ms. Thompson was the daughter of the late Leois and Jane Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband Jessie Thompson.

Annie J. Walker
Annie J. Walker of Louisa, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Sherman Hudson, were held on Monday, January 28 at Peach Grove Baptist Church, Louisa.
She is survived by a son, Thomas E. Walker of Louisa; four daughters, Lucy E. Walker of Orange, Mary J. Anderson of Gordonsville, Alice K. Jones of Charlottesville and Isabelle B. Walker of Louisa; a sister, Lucy J. Talley of Louisa; 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
Mrs. Walker was the daughter of the late James and Jane Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Iziah Walker Sr.; and one son, Emmett Iziah Walker Jr.
