Roberta G. Wagner
Roberta G. Wagner, 64, of Bumpass, died Monday, August 7, 2000 at Medical College of Virginia Hospital, Richmond. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Austin Arnett
Austin “Squeaky” Arnett, 61, of Kents Store, died Monday, January 8, 2001 at his home.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Otis Spellman, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 13 at Galilee Baptist Church, Ferncliff. Interment was in the church cemetery.
He is survived by three brothers, Ralph D. Arnett of Brooklyn, New York, Burley W. Arnett of Kents Store and Sidney B. Arnett Jr. of Louisa; a sister, Flossie M. Quarles of Kents Store; six nieces; three nephews; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Arnett was born April 26, 1939, the son of the late Massie Boyd and Sidney B. Arnett Sr.
He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church.

Catherine G. Atkins
Catherine Marie Gallihugh Atkins, 70, of Gordonsville, died Thursday, January 11, 2001 at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Larry Lane and the Rev. J. J. Hill, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 14 at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel, Gordonsville. Interment was in Maplewood cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Everett Atkins; two daughters, Judy Peyton and her husband, Ray, and Sharon Gipson and her husband, Walter, all of Gordonsville; two sons, Dwight Atkins and his wife, Sandra, and David Atkins and his fiance, Donna, all of Gordonsville; two brothers, Thomas Gallihugh of Maryland and William Gallihugh of Manassas; six sisters, Mary Marks, Rosa Jones and Betty Baltzelle, all of Manassas, Nina Shutlock of Madison, Virginia Jones of Mineral and Georgia Pearson of Louisa; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Atkins was born November 10, 1930 in Madison County, the daughter of the late Lester and Annie Deal Gallihugh. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Stonewall Gallihugh; a sister, Judy Lohr; and a great-grandson, Shane Amos.
Mildred G. Coleman
Mildred G. Coleman, 97, a native of Hampton, died Friday, January 12, 2001 at the James River Convalescent Center, Newport News.
Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Perry Clore, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 14 at Hillcrest cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bryan Coleman, Will Coleman, Phillip Goodwin Jr., Greg Madison, Robert Mitchell and Mark Wood.
She is survived by a sister, Helen Gage Cole; three nieces; and two nephews.
Mrs. Coleman lived most of her life in Hinton, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Sidney and Bessie Gage. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Coleman; a brother, Sidney Gage; and a sister, Edith Niles.

J. Lewis Dobbins
John Lewis Dobbins, 85, of Louisa, died Wednesday, January 10, 2001.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 12 at Oakland cemetery, Louisa.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Dobbins; a daughter, Betty Blaire Talley and her husband, Page, of Sebastian, Florida; a sister, Elizabeth D. Snead of Arizona; a number of nieces and nephews; and his dog, Lady Bug.
Mr. Dobbins was born August 19, 1915 in Richmond, the son of Arthur S. and Lannie McCulough Dobbins. From the age of four, he was raised by John Q. and Lillian E. Williams in Poindexter.
He was a graduate of Louisa County High School and numerous insurance institutes through Oberlin College, Rollins College and Stetson University. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Southwest Virginia.
In the mid 1940s, he started to work for the Lewis Insurance Agency in Louisa and married
Martha Allen Hunt in 1944.
In 1952, he established Dobbins Insurance Service, which was family owned and operated, until his retirement in 1990. He was a founding member of the Louisa County Rescue Squad; a past president of the Louisa Rotary Club; member, legislative chair and past president of the Professional Insurance Agents Association of Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
He was honored by the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce as the Business Person of the Year in 1993 and was honored for service by the Friends of the Rural Water Authority in 1998. He was a founding member and chairperson of the Louisa County Water Authority. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church.

Gail Romona Fountain, 32, of Charlottesville, died Sunday, January 14, 2001.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Dr. George W. McLaughlin, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 17 at Wayland Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her parents, Louise Jackson of Charlottesville and Henry Jackson of Louisa; three sons, Sergio, Kyle and Michael, all of Charlottesville; her husband, James Fountain of Gordonsville; a sister, Cathy Sims and her husband, Larry, of Louisa; two brothers, Barry Jackson of Kents Store and Larry Morris of New Jersey; a niece; three nephews; two aunts; an uncle; a devoted friend, Jose Guia; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Fountain was born February 7, 1968.

Lenice I. Koehn
Lenice Irvine Koehn, of Louisa, died Monday, January 15, 2001 at Louisa Healthcare Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Karol Koehn Lynn and her husband, Harry L. Jackson of Louisa and Lenice May Snyder of Springdale, Arkansas; a son, Harold R. Koehn and his wife, Barbara, of Elk Grove Village, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Ralph Kane of Wooster, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Robert L. Miller of Kent, Ohio, Larry A. Miller of Palmyra, Vicki M. Holloway and Theresa K. Meyers, both of Louisa, Tamara Faching of Overland Park, Kansas, Annalee Koehn of Chicago, Illinois, and Charles Kane of Williamsburg; and seven great-grandchildren.

Harold N. McClary
Harold Newman “Buck” McClary, 80, of Gordonsville, died Saturday, January 13, 2001 at Country Side Nursing Home, Gordonsville.
A graveside service, conducted by the Rev. Katha Bollsrass, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 16 at Maplewood cemetery, Gordonsville.
He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Rose and her husband, James, of Orange and Gail Shumake and her husband, Charles, of Gordonsville; a brother, Earl McClary of Richmond; a sister, Ruby Fincham of Gordonsville; and four grandchildren, Tony O’Gorman, Wendy Rose, Warren Rose and Michael Shumake.
Mr. McClary was born March 22, 1920 in Louisa County, the son of the late Littleton and Nanny Christ McClary. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Mahanes “Caddy” McClary; six brothers, Littleton Jr., Irving, Woodrow, Johnny, Willard and George McClary; and a sister, Hazel Riner.
He was a member of the Gordonsville VFW and a past member of the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company.

Hugh C. Perkins
Hugh Carrington Perkins, 88, of Ferncliff, died Saturday, January 13, 2001.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Jim Thornton, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 16 at the Woodward Funeral Home Chapel, Louisa. Interment was in Hillcrest cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel Bibb Perkins; and 15 nieces and nephews.
Mr. Perkins was the son of the late Frank Vivian and Mary Chewning Perkins. He was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
He was the owner of Perkins Kennels and was a highly regarded trainer of hunting and field trail bird dogs.
