Phillip Hammock
Phillip Dwyane Hammock, 36, 114 Harris Place, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, at his residence.
Born June 8, 1961, in Danville, he was a son of Jimmy Rodgers Hammock and Dora Talbard Walton, who survive.
He was married
to the former Tammy Carter, who survives.
A resident of Danville for most of his life, he was employed as a sheet metal mechanic for Phillips Staffing in Greensboro, N.C.
He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, his father of San Antonio, Texas, and his mother of Danville, survivors include a daughter, Jessica Hammock of the residence; a son, Christopher Hammock of the residence; and a brother, Barry Hammock of Danville.
Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m., Monday in Danville Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jack Robertson.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, 87 Bishop Ave.

Henry Lambert
Funeral services for Henry I. Lambert, 77, 209 Summit Road, will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday at West Main Baptist Church by the Rev. Bruce Wilson. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
He died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 24, 1919, in Hopewell, Ala., he was a son of Nathan Lambert and Mary Benefield Lambert.
On Aug. 22, 1942, he was married
to Reba Hartley Lambert, who survives.
He was a member of West Main Baptist Church, where he served as a former deacon and a Sunday school teacher.
For 35 years, he worked for Dan River Mills as a cost accountant before retiring in 1985.
He was a life member of DAV. He was also a member of Civitan Club of Danville for 30 years until his health forced him to retire.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Nancy Davis of Shelby, N.C., and Melodie C. Williams of Danville; four sisters, Dorothy Cook of St. Simons Island, Ga.; Sara Esterly of Biloxi, Miss.; Velma Shackleford of Bremen, Ga., and Florence L. Wilson of Cedartown, Ga.; two brothers, Clarence Lambert of Tallapoosa, Ga., and Coy Lambert of Forest City, N.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Elton Lambert, G.B. Lambert, Lucius Lambert, Thaniel Lambert and Curtis Lambert.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Townes Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
Edward Miller III
Funeral services for Edward Howe Miller III, 82, 878 Main St., will be conducted 2 p.m., today at Townes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Richard Cobb. Burial will be in Greenhill cemetery.
He died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 7, 1915, in Danville, he was the son of Dr. Edward Howe Miller Jr. and Elizabeth Noel Miller.
He was married
to Louise Wetterstrom Miller, who died May 7, 1985.
He was a graduate of Episcopal High School in Alexandria, and also graduated from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
During World War II, he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
He was self-employed in the real estate business. He was also an author, having written the book, "Blood On The Sea." He was also an artist.
He was a member of Danville Golf Club. He was also a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda M. Burford of Danville and Deborah E. Miller of Boones Mill.
Helen Moore
RICHMOND - Helen P. Moore, 81, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997.
Survivors include her husband, Wilson W. Moore; a daughter, Margie Moore Farley; two sons, Otis M. Moore and Allan Randell Moore; six sisters, Mabel Everett, Marie Fusco, Margaret Day and Lizzie Grubbs, all of Danville, and Judith Holder and Nancy Swann, both of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 p.m., today at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Road. Burial will be in Signal Hill Memorial Park.
Larry Rye
DRY FORK - Funeral services for Larry Clayton Rye, 40, 13325 Mount Cross Road, will be conducted 11 a.m., today in the mausoleum at Danville Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Lewis Harris. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 325.
He died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at his residence.
Born Sept. 24, 1957, in Tazewell, he was a son of Henry Clayton Rye and Pasty Taylor Carter, who survive.
On July 6, 1983, he was married
to Vicky Conard Rye, who also survives.
A life-long resident of the Danville and Pittsylvania County area, he was of the Baptist faith.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
In addition to his wife of the residence, his mother of Danville and his father of Danville, survivors include his grandmother, Ida Mae Taylor of Dry Fork; his stepfather, Edgar Grady Carter of Danville; his stepmother, Lois Rye of Danville; a stepson, Michael Edwards of Danville; a brother, Bob Rye of Danville; a stepbrother, Henry Clayton Rye Jr. of Roanoke; two sisters, Brenda Turner of Tazewell and Pam Williams of Danville; and a stepsister, Connie Scearce of Danville.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Ruth Still
Ruth Jeanette Still, 59, 509 N. Ridge St., died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
A native of Martinsville, she was born June 7, 1938.
She was a retired educator with Pittsylvania County Public Schools.
She was a member of Loyal Baptist Church, where she was a member of Fidelis Class.
She was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, board of directors of Habitat for Humanity and Danville Cancer Society.
Survivors include a sister, Mary S. Payne of the residence; and a brother, Robert L. Hairston of the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m., Monday at Loyal Baptist Church by the Rev. Lovelle A. Maxwell Jr. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
There will be a viewing from 4-8 p.m., Sunday at Cunningham & Hughes Funeral Home.
The family will be at the residence.
Florence Hanks
Florence Yeatts Hanks, 84, of 173 Apple Lane, Danville, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, in Piney Forest Health Care Center. She had been in declining health for several years.
Born Feb. 20, 1913, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Robert Yeatts and Mollie Clay Yeatts Waller.
On Nov. 30, 1935, she was married
to John Will Hanks, who died Sept. 19, 1986.
A resident of Pittsylvania County all of her life, she was employed as a spinner for Dan River Inc., in the #6 Mill, Riverside Division.
She attended Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church, where she was a member of the Chapel Bible Class.
Survivors include two brothers, Claude Swanson Waller of Danville and Daniel Thornton "D.T." Waller of Gretna; and four sisters, Juanita "Nita" W. Clark, Alberta W. Goard, Betty Jean Waller, all of Danville, and Janie W. Robertson of Gretna.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Virginia W. Robertson.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m., in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the residence of her sister, Alberta W. Goard, 133 Apple Lane.

Anne Perkins
Anne Kent Thompson Perkins, 75, died Friday evening, Nov. 14, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1922, in Halifax County, a daughter of John Samuel Thompson and Hester Kent Richie Thompson.
Mrs. Perkins was formerly employed with H.P. Green Shoe Company and was later associated with Sears Roebuck and Company for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church, Circle #6 and the WMS. She was also a member of the Sears Retirement Club.
Mrs. Perkins was married
to Franklin Earl Perkins, Sr. on Oct. 24, 1942. Mr. Perkins died June 13, 1995.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia P. Dalton of Danville; a son, Frank E. Perkins Jr. of Jacksonville, N.C.; six grandchildren; three sisters: Sallie T. Adkins of Reidsville, N.C., Ada T. Bennett of Ringgold, and Virginia T. Walker of Providence, N.C.; four brothers, James Thompson of Ringgold, Johnnie Thompson of Richmond, William Thompson of Catlett, and Sam Thompson of Danville. She was also predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Richard Cobb. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8:30 and at other times will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Dalton, 2189 Franklin Turnpike.
