Jacqueline Bryant
A graveside service for Jacqueline Young Bryant, 73, of Blue Ridge Rehab Center, will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in Schoolfield cemetery by the Rev. Larry Hill.
She died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville-Henry County.
Born Aug. 16, 1923, in Danville, she was the daughter of Minnie Y. Dix. Her stepfather was John Cook Dix.
She spent her entire life in Danville, and worked 30 years for Dan River Inc. She was a former member of Southall Baptist Church.
She was a member of Dan River Retirees Club.
She was married
to Howard Winston Bryant Sr., who survives.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Carole Marsh and Joyce Bryant both of Greensboro, N.C.; three sons, Kenneth Bryant of Chatham and Julian Bryant of Semora, N.C., and Howard Bryant Jr. of Danville; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Barker Funeral Home.
Lena Burnette
The funeral for Lena Taylor Burnette, 87, of 1328 Aspen St., will be conducted 11 a.m. today at Grace Design United Methodist Church by the Rev. William C. Taylor. Interment will be in Leemont cemetery.
She died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, in Stratford Health Center, where she had been a patient for two weeks.
Born Aug. 27, 1909, in Halifax County, she was a daughter of John Henry Taylor and Alice Arendall Taylor.
She spent her life in the Danville area, where she worked in the home.
She was a member of Grace Design United Methodist Church.
On Dec. 24, 1932, she was married
to Otha West Burnette, who survives.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include one son, Bruce Burnette of Halifax; one daughter, Linda B. Lee of Galax; one sister, Edna T. Hardy of Hampton; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Cordie Dalton
A graveside service for Cordie Booth Dalton, 92, formerly of 231 Orchard Drive, will be conducted 2 p.m. today in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Frederick J. Vicks.
She died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996, at Piney Forest Health Care Center. She had been in declining health for several years.
Born June 1, 1904, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of John R. Booth and Fannie Lou Hall Booth.
She spent her entire life in Danville, where she was a homemaker. For 37 years she raised Boston terriers.
She was of the Christian faith, and was married
to Glady Dalton who predeceased her.
Survivors include two sisters, Sally Carter and Blanche Whitfield, both of Danville; two brothers, Robert Booth of Danville and Hugh Booth of Staunton; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Dewey M. Rutledge Sr.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Dewey Rutledge Jr., 988 Poplar Trace.

Helene Dix
Helene Freida Dix, 66, 107 Epps St., died Thursday, Nov. 7, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 12, 1929, in Danville, she was a daughter of Barnum Dix and Nellie Hudson Dix.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She was employed by Orange County and Charlotte school systems as a teacher. She was also a member of the National Business Teachers Association and the North Carolina Educational Association.
She is survived by two brothers, Roland Dix of Los Angeles and Benjamin Dix of Oakland, Calif.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Trinity Baptist Church on South Main Street by the Rev. B. Smith. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Daisy Ferguson
The funeral for Daisy Dye Alverson Ferguson, 93, of 1025 N. Main St., will be conducted 2 p.m. today at Townes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Lee Ellison. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
She died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 10, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 25, 1903, in Rockingham County, N.C., she was a daughter of J.D. and Mary Davis Dye.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Elma A. Alverson, and her second husband, J.D. Ferguson.
For 35 years she owned and operated Ferguson Boarding Home for the elderly. She had also been employed by Dan River Inc., the Danville Knitting Mill, and Life Insurance Co. of Virginia.
She was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, where she served as an officer in the Double M Circle, past president of Senior Citizens Club, and past president of the Sewing Room Club. She also was an officer in the local AARP, and was a member of Wynette Council No. 22.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen A. Parrish of Texas City, Texas, and Doris A. Barrow of Danville; two brothers, H.J. Dye of Eden, N.C., and H.S. Dye of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, C. Dennis Alverson, and 11 brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Ada Haley
CHATHAM - Ada Mae Shuping Haley, 91, 243 Catalpa Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, in Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
Born Dec. 18, 1904, in Morganton, N.C., she was a daughter of Charlie A. Shuping and Alice Chapman Shuping.
She was married
to Everette Haley, who predeceased her.
She was a member of Chatham Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mildred H. Baum of Greensboro, N.C.; a son, George O. Haley of Chatham; a sister, Lillian Williams of Danville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. today in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Kyle Flora.

Ruth McCall
A graveside service for Ruth Harris McCall, 69, of 873 Arnett Blvd., will be conducted 11 a.m. today in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Don Davidson.
She died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at her daughter's home, 381 Homestead Road, Ringgold. She had been in declining health for one year.
Born April 26, 1927, in Danville, she was a daughter of Ira Harris and Mamie Harris.
She spent her entire life in the Danville area, where she worked 30 years at Dan River Inc.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Her husband, Hubert Frederick "Bill" McCall died in 1976.
Survivors include three daughters, Faye M. Phillips of Ringgold; Billie M. Fuquitt of Houston and Sarah M. Scearce of Pelham, N.C.; two sisters, Captola Davis of Hawkers Island, N.C. and Pearl Fern of Rancho Cucamongo, Calif.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one sister, Ida Pickeral, and one brother, Chyle "Bud" Harris.
The family will receive friends at her daughter's home, 381 Homestead Road, Ringgold.

Dale Price
A graveside service for Dale Robertson Price, formerly of 110 Westmore Drive, will be conducted 2 p.m. today in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Bruce Wilson.
He died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 10, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 9, 1909, in Russell County, he was a son of David Walter Price and Minnie Frances Ferguson Price.
He spent most of his life in Danville and was a former manager of Glen-More Clothing Store. Later he was a field representative for International Shoe Co. of St. Louis for 25 years.
He was a member of West Main Baptist Church.
On Nov. 24, 1928, he was married
to Mary Lou Leonard Price, who survives.
In addition to his wife of Danville, survivors include a daughter, Jo Greenberg of Danville; a son, Raymond Dale Price of Fairfield, Pa.; a brother, Reynolds Price of Kingsport, Tenn.; three sisters, Irene Devine of Aberdine, Md., Molly Dingus of Kingsport, Tenn., and Margaret Price of Abingdon; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his daughter, 173 Linden Drive.

Harry Swanson
Harry R. Swanson, 82, of Riverside Health Care Center, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 13, 1914, in Danville.
He was self-employed as a tailor and was a member of High Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Julian Swanson of Danville, Carroll A. Swanson of Washington, and Fredrick E. Swanson of Columbus, Ohio; and three sisters, Anne S. Drew of Washington, Marguerite S. Hopkins of Danville, and Catherine S. Barlow of Hartford, Conn.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday from Loyal Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerome B. Morris. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
The body may be viewed 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cunningham & Hughes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence of a brother, Julian Swanson, 117 Fairlawn Drive.
Kenneth Woodall
RIDGEWAY - Kenneth Wayne Woodall, 39, Route 1, Ridgeway, died Saturday, Nov. 9,1996.
He was born Aug. 13, 1957, in Danville.
He was employed in construction and by the City of Danville Public Works Department before retiring in 1988 due to illness. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his mother, Dereene Stewart of Ridgeway; his step-father, Roger Stewart of Ridgeway; his step-mother, Nancy Denny of Danville; and two sisters, Mitzi Powell of Dry Fork and Cheryl Parker of Eden, N.C.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Keatts Family cemetery in Axton.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at McKee Funeral Services in Martinsville, and other times at the residence.
